Finger Lakes Finest 2013

There’s been some exciting placements in recent days and I wanted to give a shout-out for Whos Living Bettor. Granted he’s an older horse, but he’s a sturdy, beautiful boy. I watched him race on Saturday and, while he wasn’t disgraced, he did finish last. Horses like him have strong, reliable wheels and he is a good citizen. His trainer walks him from the walker to his stall by his halter for goodness sake!

Also, the lovely, quiet mare Whos Zat Girl’s price has been reduced to $1,000 I believe. Take another look at her pictures and video.

One of the mares listed on Saturday, You Will Remember Me, has already been placed. And good thing she has her new home because I was quietly obsessing over her.

I think this year’s crop of Finests has been remarkably good.

I agree foundationmare…I am in love with Better with Butter, someone please grab her. She is running again today and has won her last 2, I love hard knocking runners!

And also Landlash is beau-t-ful. If only I were a millionaire (or had a sugardaddy)

You Will Remember Me, is now called MeMe and although not enjoying stall rest is very sweet when her bandages are changed.

OH NO—I just read the chart that Inger Management broke down…I hope he can recover

Sadly, Anon, he was euthanized on the track. RIP Inger Management.

Poor Inger Management – RIP. When I photographed him only two weeks ago it was obvious his trainer really liked this horse, so I assume he is grieving too. He also lost his lovely mare Spanish Luck this week.

But Better with Butter won her third race in a row! She is a really lovely mare, a very nice mover, and obviously has a big heart. I hope someone will step up for her. Although she is running very well Jamie does not want to keep her over the winter and wants to find a non-racing home for her so she can excel in a new career.

i love hookdonchurchpunch! wow!

Yay for Beowulf, finally someone has noticed the oh so cute Hookdonchurchpunch! His trainer is “highly motivated” as they say, to find him a new home, so please call her if you are interested, since she is likely to be negotiable on his price.

10 horses have been placed in the past two weeks – how gratifying! Many went to people that we have been in communication with, and we are already getting happy updates. The lucky horses are: Money Charger; You’ll Remember Me; Tower Close; Pure Grit; Evil’s Brother; Dutch Smoothie; Ruby Red Wine; Launch N Relaunch; Jammin Cat; and Silver Gladiator.

If any of these were on your wish lilst, don’t despair, more Finests are coming on to the listings soon. We saw some more beauties this week!

Thinking about calling on Peaked Performance- has anyone seen him in person?

Yes, several times! Love this horse. Beautiful mover – he just floats at the trot. He has a puppy dog personality; super friendly. His legs are clean, and he seems very sound. Christine Attwood adores him, and has been on again, off again about selling him, but when she asked us recently to move him back into the available group, she said due to changed personal circumstances she really did need to sell him this time. She has ridden him in western tack hacking him all over the stable area, and nothing seems to bother him.
Go for it! The person who finally persuades Christine that they are worthy of her pet will be lucky indeed.

I’ve been coveting Ferocious Won, in no small part because I’ve known a few other Air Forbes Won grandsons, and they’ve been really, really cool horses. But the whole good citizen thing Whos Living Bettor has going sounds really tempting, too. Yep, I definitely have a thing for old campaigners.

I don’t really need another horse, but I’m down to two (I’ve had 4 for most of the years I’ve owned horses). And it looks like the younger one of them may be on permanent pasture pet duty <sigh>.

:frowning: Very sorry to hear about Inger Management, and also Spanish Luck. I honestly don’t know how the connections can keep going after the losses, it must be heartbreaking. My heart goes out to them.

I have been drooling over Better with Butter and love her heart…3 in a row is amazing!!! Thank you for only listing boys this week

Oh Wayside, please follow your gut and get both of them!!! Both are lovely boys and Ferocious Won has an incredible race record, so you would have many stories to tell his admirers in your travels with him!

The Finests have been flying off the track in what is turning out to be a banner year for us. And we added several more from our trek on the backside on Wednesday, cute and stunning and personable. Wow!

I would wonder how they can keep pushing the envelope really. Hoping there is a bit of guilt… RIP Spanish Luck, it really did not have to happen… one more race… sigh

shrug You gotta do something with them. No one buys it, you need to race it, or there’s no point in paying for a stall and why put it down if it can still run? People need to buy the horses or not complain when they keep racing (and I wonder about the phrasing of the ads sometimes about needing to move on, because for example Better With Butter and Miss Tiny Rolecks were listed before I saw them on TVG’s webstie and don’t perform the way their ad text suggests. Glad I ignored BwB’s ad, actually, and bet on her anyway as she’s clearly competitive right now.)

Who’s Living Bettor

Oh, somebody grab this ol’campaigner up! In December of 2008, I brought a 12 year old finest home, Online Intime. I brought him home just to give him a good retirement home and I had no intention of riding him. He was retired until just this Spring, when my little cousin was coming to town and wanted to ride. Online was the calmest, most polite one of my finests, so I tacked him up to give him a try, and he loved it! He just thinks who he is now when we go out for our little trail rides and hacks around the farm, and he will baby sit anyone! I imagine Who’s Living Bettor would be the same way. Talk about professional and unflappable.

Never underestimate the older campaigners.

P.S. They are great for your confidence, too, after working with many baby greenies.

Two recent listings running today

Heads up to anyone who might want to see a couple of stunners who are entered to race today.

Ming’s Revenge is a 6 y.o. gelding making his racing debut and he stops me in my tracks every time I see him in the barn. His trainer raves about his affable personality and easy-going nature. He is in the 4th race.

Great Bear is in the 7th race. He’s a big, well conformed boy who has almost unlimited potential but I see eventer stamped all over him.

Oh my, Lil Tahiti Sweetie is a lovely looking girl. I really shouldn’t look at those horses.

^^^^^see? Clint! I’m in love! Some one stick her on a trailer to me and I’ll keep her safe!

I guessed right. She is stunning; I hope you can get her here.

Anyone wanna trade hauling for a wedding dress? Lol, it’s really pretty… (Getting desperate? Haha)

You Lil Tahiti Sweetie droolers, better jump fast. Someone tells us they have called on her and really want her.
Ming’s Revenge ran a good third in his first race today. That probably means his owner will want to keep racing him some more.
