Finger Lakes Finest 2013
Yay for Beowulf, finally someone has noticed the oh so cute Hookdonchurchpunch! His trainer is “highly motivated” as they say, to find him a new home, so please call her if you are interested, since she is likely to be negotiable on his price.

10 horses have been placed in the past two weeks – how gratifying! Many went to people that we have been in communication with, and we are already getting happy updates. The lucky horses are: Money Charger; You’ll Remember Me; Tower Close; Pure Grit; Evil’s Brother; Dutch Smoothie; Ruby Red Wine; Launch N Relaunch; Jammin Cat; and Silver Gladiator.

If any of these were on your wish lilst, don’t despair, more Finests are coming on to the listings soon. We saw some more beauties this week!
i am thinking of calling her… his list price is a little out of my comfort range but maybe if she’s willing to be flexible…

has anyone seen him in person?! it drives me nuts but i cannot view his video… so i don’t know what he moves like. FL isnt that far from me… 2 hrs…

You Lil Tahiti Sweetie droolers, better jump fast. Someone tells us they have called on her and really want her.
Ming’s Revenge ran a good third in his first race today. That probably means his owner will want to keep racing him some more.
i called on her…

Sorry, we did not get a video of him. I can’t completely recall why. I recall that he moves OK; nothing WOW, but not bad. As I recall (although he is now getting to be many photographs ago!) he struck me as a cute and well put together horse who seemed to be sweet and laid back. If you want to watch some videos of his races, Finger Lakes offers a free replay service through the racetrack website, under the drop down menu for racing. You can check on equibase to see what dates he raced and in what race number, and then go to that date and race number in the replay section of the track website. Best to focus on races where a horse won or ran close up. The camera focuses on the winner on the gallop out after the finish line and in the canter or trot back to the winner’s circle.

HorseKrazy, I see you are in Northern California. On our FLF Facebook page (link below with my signature line), by now several posts down the page, there is a thread on shippers who regularly go west. I posted asking for recommendations for FLF shoppers in Colorado and Illinois. The Illinois buyer wound up doing her own shipping, and I don’t know who the Colorado person used. But, the post elicited several recommendations of nationwide shippers who make western runs. Many of them consolidate loads to keep the price down.

there is a video on his page – am i just confused? i could have sworn it said there was, but my decrepit laptop does not download/buffer videos.
Oh Wayside, please follow your gut and get both of them!!! Both are lovely boys and Ferocious Won has an incredible race record, so you would have many stories to tell his admirers in your travels with him!
Soo tempting. I’m not deterred by their ages at all. My older mare is a very young 18. She could be going strong for quite a while yet, so I’m trying to decide how many horses I have the time and energy to ride at any given time.

No, I was the confused one! On a later track visit after our initial photo session for Hookonchurchpunch, we asked his trainer to pull him out for a video and another one of our volunteers took it and it is indeed on his listing page on our website! Beowulf, although you cannot view it, I just did and his jog jogs my memory. He looked like a nice mover, with a flat kneed trot, good reach to his stride, correct straight movement, i.e. no obvious winging or paddling, well behaved – and this is on hard asphalt.
Perhaps you can prevail on some friend with a smart phone or I-pad or a more up to date computer to show you his video! Or take a leap of faith and come look in person.

Does Cool Operator have a video? Did not see one on his page.

I am far away, but my brother lives in Sacketts Harbor… maybe I will have to visit him with horse trailer in tow…

i am going tomorrow with a fellow COTHER. will i see you there?

We went yesterday and had a great time! Saw Cool Operator and he was sooo fancy, really loved him, but came home with Badge of Red. If I had room I’d take Cool Operator too!

Great news TBD! Badge of Red is a handsome hunk of a horse and so sweet and sensible too. We can’t wait for updates.

My happy news is that Whose Living Bettor has found a home with my DD and her BF, who just happens to be his regular rider. He will be a pleasure horse for them and I couldn’t be more tickled! DD’s 7, almost 8, year old daughter is an excellent rider and he may be her show mount as well.

There are so many quality horses on our website but every once in a while I have to give a shout out for some of our less recent listings who might get lost in the dazzling array of available Finests. Beacon Beach deserves a second look. Very beautiful, accomplished and “been there done that” horse.

i thought beacon found a home?! i went with TBD and i think i overheard someone had gotten him?

i would steal cool operator in a heartbeat if i could… i really liked meeting him!

Just tossing “Thats Vistas Girl” into the ring to be admired, she’s at the bottom of the list and I worry she gets lost.

Every year there’s always a few horses who catch my eye. I am trying very, very hard to ignore my extra stall and current FLF mare who is exceeding all expectations now that she’s back in work…

So someone else needs to buy her and post frequently!

It was so gratifying to see Badge of Red find a home! Too bad Cool Operator couldn’t have been on the same trailer, but he had to race today to fill a race. He ran last, so perhaps now the Breeds will be ready to let him go.
I got a video of him on Saturday while he was strutting his stuff for TBDressage, and will upload it on our you tube channel tomorrow, and then it will be on his listing on our website, and I will post it with his album on our FB page as well. He is a seriously nice horse – the person who gets him will be lucky!
And as for the beautiful Beacon Beach, yes indeed, we were informed on Saturday that he did find a home at a H/J barn not too far from Rochester.
The wonderful news about Who’s Livin Bettor just makes my whole season doing the listings! So heartwarming that race track people have stepped up for one of the gallant old campaigners. We had a hoot visiting with this gorgeous hunk of horse on Saturday. When we asked his trainer’s brother what “Papa” was like to ride, he tied the lead rope to the halter, we gave him a leg up, and off he trotted bareback!

So happy for Badge of Red and Who’s Livin Bettor - now to find shipping for Say Halo Sandy to Dutchess Co., so if anyone is heading that way, let me know.

Congrats on all the recent homes found!

I have an unexpected stall for a filly or mare in need of rehab/stall rest, so if a girlie becomes available that needs a home and she is injured please tell the trainer not to be afraid to post her. Sadly, a mare that I was in love with was put down on the 20th. She raced on the 12th so I am guessing she injured herself fairly badly in that race…I am heartbroken and want to help another one out in her honor.

She will have the stall between MeMe (You’ll Remember Me) and Pave the Way (from last year)

She races today in the first at FL, field long shot at 11-1.

Hmm I posted earlier today and it vanished but anyways…in that post I said I had an empty stall…well after tomorrow afternoon it will be filled. Gazellephant will have her own paddock too! I cant wait to meet her

There are so many wonderful and exciting updates to post and hear about. I must confess to a gasp and misting up to read your news, Anon, about Gazellephant! Such a lovely and sweet creature. May you have many happy adventures together for years to come.

Wow horse people might be crazy, but also generous and compassionate. I love COTH!

Foundationmare, I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. For the last 6 months, I have been keeping a stall open for a mare that I knew from the past…I just found out today that she was put down on 8/20 due to a racing injury from the week before. I was absolutely heartbroken (still am), my phone rang and it was Gazellephant’s owner/trainer. The stall has been filled and Gazelle is no longer an elephant.
