Flea and Tick help for a tiny baby Puppy !!!!

Poor Baby Polo was covered in Fleas before his first Groom and Spa day today.
14 weeks and 9 lbs.

WTF can I use ??
Old Wives Recipes welcome, feed additives or herbs too.

Off to research Burt’s Bees for now

Hm, seresto collars can be used on babies that young, but they’re supposed to be at least 18 lbs. Might be worth a convo with the vet? They certainly work, and work well!

And AHEM where are the puppy pictures???

So fluffy!!! Babies are the best! <3

He got a full on first puppy groom today so I need to load those pix.
I’m gobsmacked that I didn’t know about fleas, they normally flock to the Irish Ei’s buffet…I AM the flea magnet.

Capstar. I just learned about it from a kitten rescue.

Bathe with dawn dish soap and you can always use a conditioner so the skin and hair won’t dry out

Also use oils or creams and rub into fur down to their skin. It will smother the fleas

At this point Ill cook up some UltraGuard Green and pyrethrin onto wipes and see if hell eat garlic

Ugh…ordered Espree flea and tick wipes, allll essential oils.

The “Fragrance” was sooooo obnoxious poor pup cried while trying to rub it off and started retching while tying to lick it off.

I took him out to distract him and 20 minutes later had to pick 15 fleas off him.

awww, poor guy. Much as I hate chemicals, I used Vectra on Piper starting at about 4 months, and they say you can use it on really young pups. We just have too many ticks. A friend swears by wondercide (or is it wondracide?), but her dogs reacted like Polo did (except the licking - poor guy) so that was a deal breaker for me.

Sadly my previous LhasaPoo developed an unmangeable epilepsy at 6 years old and had to cross the Bridge.
Yup, used the Advantage/Advantix products, drops between the shoulders.
Maybe coincidence maybe not.

The small Seresto collar is for dog over 7 weeks and up to 18 lbs, not over 18 lbs. There’s your answer. You’re going to have to wash all bedding in hot water and vacuum, vacuum., vacuum. Dispose of vacuum bag or dump the vacuum cleaner in a well sealed garbage bag outside.

Most vets carry it, Chewy delivers in 1 to 2 days.

Nope, the small is for dogs up to 18 lbs, not over 18 lbs.

Ask your vet about Capstar. It will immediately kill any fleas on your dog. It won’t prevent the dog from picking up more, but in combo with a Seresto collar that might be the answer.

Thanx, poor kid is officially a flea magnet at this point and he`s totally fed up with me picking at them

Hopefully, they`re not biting OR looking for me.
Trying to find side effect info as we speak

Ah. Indeed. Great option for this puppy then!

I used Credelio on my 8 week old puppy. Super safe. It’s oral, once a month, effective against fleas and ticks.

PetSmart will price match. I was there recently and the price at the store was $61 for the Seresto collar. The cashier found one for me for $46 on line so I only paid $46. I was buying large dog. Here is a link for small dog for $38.50.

Gotta love it when low tech & inexpensive is the best option. Yay for Polo! Oh, yeah, and you.

After 4 days of picking fleas offa SquirmySnake and bothering you guys and googling til the sun came up.

Simple is rarely obvious

Well guess what…didn’t work.

Sentry Flea spray…carcasses are dropping off him.
