Gottagrey I have said not so much as a syllable of untruth about Mr.Flynn or any other person. I have FACTS that would back me up in ANY courtroom setting so it doesn’t concern me in the slightest. Secondly as far as being employable I have 9 racehorses, owners that have been with me for YEARS, and have previous employers far more successful than Mr.Flynn in show jumping and 3 day that would verify that with me “no drama” exists. I come down to Ocala in the winter so our racehorses can train and I over 15 years of wintering here have taken a job in either show jumping or eventing because I ENJOY IT and not for the need of a pay check that I can promise you. If I was so unemployable as you suspect in the future I guess that kind of character flaw just happened when working for Mr. Flynn. Because clearly his fellow professionals would have made my perpensity for “drama” known to Mr.Flynn when checking my references before hiring me don’t u think??? This is about him doing the wrong thing to NUMEROUS people before me. If your ok with the exemplary manner in which he conducts himself then u go work for him. He has an opening at this very moment your in luck !!
Please don’t end sentences in prepositions!
Matt knows it or he wouldn’t havr reached out to me twice today my boyfriend 3 times offering to pay me in full today
So he’s offered to pay you.so it sounds like the paycheck situation is resolved? For someone who states they
have taken a job in either show jumping or eventing because I ENJOY IT and not for the need of a pay check that I can promise you.
I’m not sure why you didn’t just walk away I think your posts kind of show your propensity for drama… posting derogatory statements (true or not) on a sponsors facebook page, sorry I think those sort of actions would deter an employer and quite possibly clients. I’m glad you have a happy clients and a string of racehorses as your main source of income. Hopefully his offer of paying you in full will end this matter.
Going forward there is no need for me say anything more I know as well as Mr. Flynn knows what happened. As does the Eventing community as a whole and the other employees that where never paid. Mr. Flynn will hopefully have learned that he can’t behave like this in the future if he hasnt that I cannot help. It is my hope perhaps nobody else will go through such an experience. Given the people who have reached out to both Mr. Flynn and I to try and remedy this off social media. Those individuals deserve the respect due them given there efforts to attempt to end this dispute with agreeable solution. As for others who decide to comment on this post that I cannot or will not attempt to control. Social media is a tool that is invaluable for making people aware of things both good and and in this world. That being said when that tool is used as a weapon it can never solve anything amicably.
I choose to not continue to comment on this subject at this time. As for others commenting I can’t control that nor would I attempt to. Mr. Flynn knows where this situation stands as do I. #neverblinkfirst LOL
It’s actually ok now. Because English isn’t Latin. We took a vote.
You go girl. Seriously.
I personally would suggest that this person give up their horse dreams and attend college. You’re unlikely to win many court cases without the use of paragraphs and the repeated misuse of punctuation, even before you get to the misspellings and “words that don’t mean what you think they mean.”
add in the person making her brother and boyfriend fight her battles. If you’re older than 20, you’ve certainly got all of us fooled with your maturity.
We have removed sone comments pertaining to non-horse-related issues involving third parties and addressed some inappropriate language.
Please avoid further comments of this nature going forward.

The professional way to handle this is to go to the labor board period. As a race horse trainer of over 20 years I can not fathom having time to work for someone else full time while training 9 horses though. There are not enough hours in the day to do both and do it right. I hope your clients were aware you were gone all day because if they find out via your plastering this all over the net they likely won’t be your clients anymore.
Regardless of what has happened- to come on here like this is in poor taste. It doesn’t mean you do not have a right to tell your story- if you had to put up with terrible working conditions - but you walked out- you didn’t give notice- and unless you were in danger, you should have given notice and just chalked it up to “not for me.” There is way too much in your story to be seen by many of us as anything other than drama laden and unreliable. I have learned from the horse world that there are 100 sides of a story and the truth sometimes is in another field! Some of the most seemingly truthful people downright lie on others. I hope you can reflect on the situation and from a viewpoint of what you could have done better and what you should have done and learn and grow from that.
While coming on a public forum and airing her grievances may not have been the most professional or mature thing in the world to do (though, how many times in the horse world have we all run into a scumbag and wish someone would have TOLD US ABOUT THEM before they took us for a ride, broke our horses, or were just generally scummy?), the fact that she walked without notice does not negate the fact that she is still entitled to her pay. Even if she worked a day and realized she couldn’t take the situation, for one reason or another, she is STILL owed that day’s pay.
It also doesn’t negate the fact that this dude has a reputation. I know two people who can tell similar work environment stories and have heard that he’s not the kindest to his horses (now THAT’S just a rumor in the particular case I have in mind, so take that with a healthy pile of salt). I don’t doubt my friends’ stories, though.
It’s still extortion if you threaten to distribute information (even if it is factual) against someone’s wishes in order to get them to perform an action. “The practice of obtaining something, especially money, through force or threat.”
Please don’t try to make other posters look stupid by calling out their failures to abide by archaic rules of grammar that are no longer universally applicable.
See, e.g. Grammar Girl’s web site:
One of the most frequent questions I’m asked is whether it’s acceptable to end a sentence with a preposition. I know many of you were taught that you shouldn’t end a sentence with a preposition, but it’s a myth. In fact, I consider it one of the top ten grammar myths because many people believe it’s true, but nearly all grammarians disagree, at least in some cases…
or YourDictionary:
At one time, schoolchildren were taught that a sentence should never end with a preposition. However, this is a rule from Latin grammar that was applied to English. While many aspects of Latin have made their way into the English language, this particular grammar rule is not suited for modern English usage.
What is it that people here say all the time?
BNT is abusing his horses behind the scenes, what should I do? Speak up!
BO is verbally abusive to workers, what should I do? Speak up!
Horse dealer is drugging his sales horse, what should I do? Speak up!
BM is sexually harassing teenage boarders, what should I do? Speak up!
So I’m kind of mystified by the posts suggesting that the OP ought to just shut up and stop posting about Mr. Flynn and the posts that are really nothing more than personal attacks on the OP.
@NoSuchPerson I don’t think anyone had an issue with the first post. It was the subsequent posts that caused the issue. Like the one blasting mmequcenter for saying the sponsor had every right to ask the OP to delete her tirade from their FB page.
Also, I cannot believe as laurierace pointed out, the OP has time to train 9 racehorses and be a working student. The OP sounds young and I think the race training is a family business where she takes the opportunity to be a working student in Ocala when her parents make the move south.
The only other “negative” was people saying it’s pretty unprofessional to just up and leave, then have ones brother and boyfriend call the employer when the OP got no response. I high tailed it out of a very bad working student position. It was also by choice my last. That being said, I did not ask for my last check. I called it a wash. I left with no notice and with it went without my last pay check. Even trade in my book.
This is great! And i completely i agree. I only saw the OP’s first post, i did not see the responses so I wont speak to that. But i think she is right to speak up about the situation, wherever she pleases to do so.
Is commenting on his sponsors Facebook page the best way to get the message to them? Maybe not. But I also think that sponsors should be informed of this type of behavior by their riders. Especially when it can be verified that it has happened in multiple instances. In my office job (something someone suggest the OP get instead of pursuing horses), I am still expected to act in an appropriate manor IN and OUT of the office. We are REQUIRED to report any behavior that implies otherwise. There are a lot of riders out there deserving of sponsorship - if you cant represent the company appropriately, time to be replaced.
OP - keep riding if you enjoy riding. If you dont, i hope you find another avenue! Use this experience as another notch on our belt of knowledge, mature from it - but by no means, do not stop speaking up
My grammar is awful btw, but I am OK with that. I work with numbers not words!
Well, that escalated quickly.
I’m all for outing dishonest or abusive employers and people who treat horses poorly by presenting the facts, but there is definitely a right and wrong way to do it.
The OP has stated on here (which I quoted previously$ that Matt has offered to pay her in full. Of note I was recently contacted by someone who was hired on as a groom in another discipline it didn’t work out and heir corrspondence to me was similar to this thread - can’t ride abusive to horses, gossiping about other people etc. Sound familar. Funny I heard similar stories about another event trainer in Potomac/Boyd’s many years ago too
