Laurierace…We have 2 groom and a hotwalker that come with our horses, as well, an exercise rider to gallop 5 while my boyfriend oversees the training and galloos the other 4 when necessary. If you’ve been training for over 20 years you are well aware that not all 9 will train everyday due to racing, breezing, time to off etc. We have had one owner for 11 years, and the other for 6 years. I also run our farm in Pa.when we return home in the summer while maintaining a string at the race track. We didn’t purse out for 2017 at $387K as of December and coming to Ocala because of being jips and our shedrow being filled with imcompetance and mismanagement. Please gets all the details before commenting with assumptions.

Agreed. Where things started to take a wrong turn for OP was criticizing Matt Flynn for sharing personal information about a sponsor rep with her, a stranger, while she in turn names the person and repeats more than enough of the same information to a wide audience of internet strangers. That’s hardly taking the high road, then when people started pointing out that was a bad choice to share that, the OP ignored that and got angry. Over-sharing aside, the OP is still entitled to be paid for the work she did and it sounds like that resolution may now be possible.

Soluinhere…its extortion? Are u serious? You missed the entire point of why I originally posted. I did this to bring awareness to the 3 Day community as to how Mr. Flynn conducts himself with his EMPLOYEES. I never said he abused his horses because I didnt ever see him do such a thing. If others who came on here that worked for him described such things I have no control over that. They have a right as do I to speak of my experience with Mr. Flynn. By last evening 10 people had made me aware he had done the same thing he did to me in regards to getting paid. I have chosen to not post the messages and people who requested animinty because I don’t need to disregard or disrespect there request to make myself look believable. Mr. Flynn knows each and everyone of these people exist as does 99% of the 3 Day community. His reputation speaks volumes as I have since learned of the last 2 days by people who are in the Top Ten of the standings currently reaching out to me with such phrases as “your the best” and “its about time this was made public”. If it walks like a duck amd quacks like a duck its a duck. I had NO idea when posting this originally so many people where victims of Mr.Flynn refusal to pay employees I knew of 2 before now there are 10 including the ones to publicly same something on this post. With every fiber of my being I am happy this went the way it did because if by my doing what I did perhaps Mr. Flynn will take pause before doing it again or stop doing it all together. If that’s what comes of it than that to me is worth far more than the $583.00 owed to me. You clearly just don’t get it do you? When you know better you do better. Mr. Flynn knows each and every person that he screwed is not a figment of my imagination or a lie to embellish my story. If he didn’t he wouldn’t have been tripping over himself in efforts to settle with me over the entire course of the day yestersay. If you think he isn’t devoid of ethics you go work for him. Let me know how that works out for you. Ill get paid you best believe I will and I was pursing this through the court system and other agency’s. Posting this was in no way extortion it was a better to protect my fellow horseman/women in this industry. Have a great day !

I was ok with the first post but she definitely went overboard and acted inappropriately in subsequent posts in my opinion. It is wonderful to speak up factually and professionally. See the EDH thread for a wonderful example of the right way to get the word out in the first post. She factually told her story and left it at that.

I actually agree. And I have no issue with dispassionately pointing out that better choices might be made or calmly suggesting alternative courses of action, e.g. contacting the state DOL. But, none of what you say justifies attempting to silence the OP or the personal attacks on the OP that were made by some posters.

Then I guess we should amend our statement to “speak up clearly and concisely” because nobody is going to care if you’re telling people to “stay in their lane” and “sit down” since nobody is going to care if they can even decipher your text speak long enough to understand what you’re on about.

Could he be a right jerk? Yep. I don’t know him and have never dealt with him. But your grievance is resolved and you yourself didn’t behave completely above board.
OP, you’re losing yourself some friends by screenshotting this thread and adding it to your comment on the sponsor’s FB page. I am not totally anonymous on COTH, and now people can see what I said here (I would never have any intention to adding to a thread like that), and I’m now getting messaged. it would be awesome if you’d take that screenshot down.

Other types of threats sufficient to constitute extortion include those to harm the victim’s business and those to either testify against the victim or withhold testimony necessary to his or her defense or claim in an administrative proceeding or a lawsuit. Many statutes also provide that any threat to harm another person in his or her career or reputation is extortion.

And why was it okay for Stormy17 to post her long tirade on EDH both here and on Facebook, and for COTH toi basically say “you go, girl?” And for some to suggest that John Nunn be notified of the thread and the issues raised?
Is it because in Stormy17’s situation, money wasn’t directly involved?
AFAIK, it’s not extortion to publicly demand that someone pay money that is legitimately owed. It may be crass, but why would it be extortion? Isn’t Extortion demanding money that is not legally owed to you? It’s illegal in this country for someone to work for less than minimum wage, and no pay is certainly not minimum wage.

If I recall correctly, many of the early responders on Stormy’s EDH thread did push back and offer other possible explanations for some of the Stormy’s complaints. But as the thread progressed and so many other posters joined in and corroborated things Stormy said or shared other EDH horror stories, it kind of took on a life of it’s own.
I think this poster is trying to do the same type thing but not being quite as well received because there is an overtone of extra drama and text speak, and her only verifiable complaint seems to be about the withheld pay.

@runNjump86 … Mod1 did edit some posts that apparently contained some sort of personal information about someone not directly involved in the dispute between OP and Matt Flynn. However, there were several other fairly “intense” posts by the OP that have completely disappeared (although some parts still show up where they were quoted by other posters).

The situation between Stormy and a Trainer from Texas was concerning abuse/neglect of her horses if I remember correctly. Please someone correct if I’m wrong as it happened quite some time ago. Stormy publicly asked John Nunn who sponsored the trainer to drop said trainer as a rider. Why is it not ok to make sponsors aware that riders they support have done unethical things for any reason that pertain to business practices involving horses or humans? In my case I worked and didn’t get paid along with a long list of people before me. Stormy’s horses where abused or should I say severely neglected resulting in 2 horses deaths. Turns out her situation wasn’t the first time it happened with that trainer and others came forward when she made her story public as did people involved in my situation. If anyone reading this was a sponsor you wouldn’t want to be made aware the rider you sponsor had a long history of not paying employees or abusing/neglecting horses in there care? I certainly would and if others on here wouldn’t then they would deserve the negative publicity that comes with continuing to support those riders. I assuming people who have started referencing the Stormy situation have only done so as to the similarlity of the rider/sponsor detail. Because as I see it its the only similarity in Stormy and I’s posts. Let me make this PERFECTLY so there is no confusion. I NEVER saw Mr. Flynn abuse or neglect his horses quite the opposite. If others have commented on this post saying they have seen or heard of Mr.Flynn doing such things I cannot control that. I worked and didn’t get paid as have many others before me if a sponsor if fine with continuing to support a rider that has a long history of not paying employers that I also can’t control. In my opinion sponsors don’t choose to do due diligence when taking on riders then that’s on them. If there reputation may be affected negatively by that choice then that’s also on them. It doesn’t make sense to me from a business stand point but as I said that is exactly that my opion nothing more nothing less.
