Oh wow, what a face! Cute cute cute!
Congratulations, @EventerAJ! I see your theme for the year continues. He’s a cutie.
Arielle is at 359 days and STILL just kind of barely creeping along. Her tail head is sinking in even more, which hardly seemed possible a few days ago. Her udder isn’t FULL full, but it is well on the way:
Yet her milk is still testing under 200 ppm Ca and right around pH8:
Argh.
Finally! I come and check this thread every couple of days to get a hopeful dose of baby cuteness. Yay for another healthy boy! What a looker!
It confounds me how all that leg is folded up in there!!
I’m always TG for uneventful deliveries! and beautiful babies in the straw.
YAY!!! Good job, Barb! @EventerAJ, you’ve got enough matching ones to have trouble telling them apart (size & age not withstanding). Glad everything went well!
Any updates on this little guy?
I just wanna say, I was in a terrible mood until I read through this thread again and saw all the adorable babies. Thank you for sharing them with us!
Here are a few pics from today. Bloodwork came back good and he’s doing great. Seems like a really nice mind, so far. Or maybe I just have PTSD from the last Khozan foal, lol.
Today is day 362 for Arielle, and her pH is just slightly below 7.8 this morning. Her calcium was still just shy of 200 ppm last night; fingers and toes crossed that it finally comes up by this evening’s check. She has a social media following that could rival April the giraffe at this point. Hopefully she won’t keep all of us hanging on too much longer!
Anyone else still waiting? @Trak_Eventer? @EventerAJ, do you have one more to go?
Day 362 here… still cooking… starting to loosen up more, but no pH changes yet. I’m about to name the foal About Dam Time
I’m going to name mine FC Dun It At Last.
What a lovely mare. Remind me if you will, who is the sire?
Foal will be by EH Herzensdieb o/o Aurelia NSF (Windfall *Pg *E */Actress/Avginon II)
Really tempted to call it About Dam Time… but I have had a name picked out for a very long time that I am planning on sticking with. She sure is taking her sweet time cooking this one! She is living with a friend on a breeding lease (though this foal will be mine) nearby. Her other mare is 40 days behind mine and looking more ready than mine. I joked that her mare is an Instapot and by is an old fashioned slow cooker. Ready for her to hurry up though!!!
Oh my… how exciting! He’s a stunner. What a great choice for your mare. I really look forward to seeing the foal. Hoping she goes soon and easy.
I can’t believe Arielle is still holding on!
Jazil’s Dream made some major progress in her udder today. With a lip chain and a lot of patience I was able to get a milk sample; nothing imminent. Color is clear yellow, pH 7.8-8. Her belly is huge, tailhead sunk, I would guess she is about 4 to 5 days out. But as we all know () mares will do what they want!
Day 364 and still no real movement from Arielle.
I’m about to blow a gasket with one of my Facebook friends. I try to cut some slack to my more…senior…acquaintances for their lack of social media skills/etiquette. But this woman - sigh. I do twice daily updates for my friends/family who want to “be a part” of the foaling experience or learn about it. Twice a day, EVERY day, this woman comments, “The apple will fall when it is ripe!” Okay:
-
At no point have I given any indication that I intend to induce my mare. So WTF?
-
Apples are actually ripe well before they fall from the tree. At that point, they’re starting to rot. So it’s not even a good analogy.
Whew. Thanks for letting me vent!
Invite her for a sleepover with her alarm clock.
Gotta love those early to go babies that are an early a.m. surprise in the barn!
Any way you can change the settings where you can’t see what she says?
I can just exclude her from seeing those particular posts if I absolutely have to - that’s a handy trick for a lot of situations.
