Arielle! Arielle! Arielle! Arielle!
BTW, several of y’all’s foal pics have been the background on my computer at work bc they make me smile
Thrilled with the filly! I think we will do a repeat breeding for next year that will be available. She is so sweet… loves to be loved on. Such a Labrador. I can tell her canter is just to die for. Can’t wait to see what she looks like in a month.
How’s Arielle cooking tonight?
No additional wax today, and her milk test is still showing a big fat nothing. But she is super relaxed behind:
I can literally curl her tail all the way over her back, and her tail head is visibly sunken in on both sides and very, very jiggly. She can only hold out like this so long, right? My gut instinct is that her milk will change rapidly when it finally does, but I don’t expect action tonight.
Hang in there, and best of luck!
She’s still taking her sweet time. She has some crystals this morning but no wax. Her milk is still thin but turning whiter, and Ca is maddeningly close to 200 ppm but not there yet, while pH is STILL in the high 7s.
Still on pause. Again. The foal did one big reposition three weeks ago and another one last week. I can still feel movement occasionally, but there’s not a lot of move for dramatic acrobatic action in there at this point I’m sure.
Day 373 this morning.
I hope everything is ok. I check this tread daily just for your posts.
Apparently she is a slow cooker.
Thank you, @Gesaffelstein and everyone who’s been following this saga. I was able to talk to an old friend who is an equine repro vet today, and she thinks it would be best for me to take Arielle to the UT vet school to foal. Between her bizarrely long stall out and my vet’s unavailability, there’s just too much risk associated with keeping her here. So now I’m working on the arrangements for that…
Oh, and did I mention I’ve been trying to buy a trailer for over a YEAR with no luck? I was supposed to go look at one tomorrow, but that’ll have to go on the back burner yet again. Luckily I do have hauling option and this isn’t an urgent kind of emergency.
Jingles and good thoughts would be much appreciated.
Absolutely! Sending all the jingles and prayers we can for Miss Arielle!
Lots of jingles…I suspect I’m not the only one on the board quietly lurking and following. And I hope so very very much that all comes well in the end. I give you breeders credit, I don’t have the courage.
Jingling for Arielle! Really hoping that its much ado about nothing. Like she just wanted her baby to be born a UT Longhorn so she could brag about her foal’s college ties. Best of luck!
Haha. Wrong UT. We’re going to the original one - you know, with the better shade of orange. Lol.
Thank you so much, everyone. Odds are, everything will be fine, but she has pushed past my comfort zone for waiting it out at home at this point. Luckily, I used to work at the university in a different department, and one of the two attending equine internal medicine vets is a very, very good friend of mine. So it’s not like I have to hand her over to total strangers when we get there.
haha sorry, I admit I had to google “UT mascot” - I know nothing of colleges in TX. So glad that you are close w/ the vets and its always better to go in as a preventative as opposed to rushing in as an emergency.
We won’t hold it against you, @BatCoach. Texas gets all the attention, but we here in Tennessee like to poke at bit at them with the reminder that we existed first.
