Gracie’s belly has significantly dropped since this morning! Feeling hopeful!
Fingers crossed for you tonight @Trak_Eventer!
Jaz looks like she is kicking into gear, possibly in the next 12-24hrs. She had wax at 5pm, progressed to very gentle milk drops at 8pm. Milk is white, colostrum is 25+, and pH is as low as I’ve seen it yet this year. PH strip color is bright lemon yellow, not a trace of golden orange, indicating below 6.2. She is mildly restless, tail sticking up, and was slow to finish dinner. Setting my alarm for every half hour tonight.
@CdnRider He looks really nice. He’s got legs for days!
@EventerAJ I love the star on the foal on the top left. Such a pretty face.
It’s a filly! Finally, not a colt!! She does have a star, (of course!) but with a little extended strip. Jazil’s Dream delivered a huge healthy filly at 11pm. Little girl came out scrambling to get up, and actually was on all four feet (briefly) just 10 minutes later. Took some time before she passed all the meconium, and thus didn’t actually nurse until 12:30am. But she’s doing well, Jaz is a good mom if a bit overzealous.
So glad my foal watching is done for the year! Now just to get the last couple mares bred, and coast through summer. Jaz will be bred to Saketini for next year.
YAY! Finally a filly for you!
she is lovely. Who is the sire?
Gracie had a huge filly at 4 AM at 369 days! We had big storms last night with crazy lightening and hail. Storm stopped at 3:45 AM and she went into action! Gracie is doing fantastic and so is baby!
Yay! Congratulations, @Trak_Eventer!
Is Arielle our only hold out remaining? 369 days here and still showing no signs of getting down to business. Sigh.
For the record, one of y’all needs to sign up now to start the 2022 foal watch thread, because I do NOT want a repeat of this experience. I’m not going to risk jinxing myself again.
Congrats!! Glad Gracie and her filly are well.
Now if only Arielle would show up to the party!
St. Patrick’s Day is the sire of Jaz’s filly. We now have 4 SPDs on the farm and they are consistently nice, big and fancy, and kind.
Come on Arielle! #AriellesLastStand
Can’t wait to see a photo of her up and about. Congratulations!
Yay, great job, Gracie!!!
They are all so cute! Thanks for sharing!
Today is 371 for Arielle. How’s this for mixed signals:
For crying out loud, mare! I’m absolutely not trusting her to be unattended for long at this point, but I think she’s going to make me wait at least another 24 hours.
I was supposed to have my vet come do an ultrasound this week to make sure all is okay, but guess who just got diagnosed with COVID? I called FIVE other vets yesterday and none of them even have an ultrasound (yay for living in rural TN, right?), so I’m glad she decided to at least throw me a sign of progress, small as it might be.
Here are some pics of my nugget! After the Storm LSE aka Stormy! Baby Stormy and Gracie are both doing great! Gracie is a fantastic mom, especially for a maiden mare.
