Little boy says hello again!

He’s obsessed with both dogs and will sit and stare at them absolutely mesmerized. He rarely sees my 2 cats since they are disgusted to be sharing a house with a kitten so the dogs are the only role models he sees constantly. He’s going to be one of those really weird bottle babies that thinks he’s a dog. :joy:

My male cat finally being brave enough to see the kitten up close. He immediately hissed in the kitten’s face, who just froze in place until my cat stomped off in a huff.

@Cammie, that is one adorable kitten. Love his white whiskers on his adorable all black face.

I can not get over the whole tennis ball scale idea. He is SO itty bitty!!! Its hard to believe that any cat can by offended by his wittle presence.

Smudge is a former bottle baby orphan himself and my foster failure, and says HE is the only baby boy allowed here, thank you very much. Lol. Plus he’s a candy-ass who absolutely would be scared by a 10 ounce kitten.

He spent 5 minutes hissing at the empty crate last night while the kitten was sleeping in my lap a foot away from him.

My female cat has experienced foster kittens before (Smudge being one of them), and actually likes them from 4-6 weeks of age. She’ll play with them and put them in headlocks to give them a good grooming. She’s a little miffed at the kitten being here but now that he’s starting to toddle around more she’s getting curious about him. Hopefully she’ll decide he’s fun to play with so he can get a little socializing in with his own kind before he gets adopted out.

He is adorable and it looks like he has gotten a smidge bigger. But the bigger cats - so mean to hiss in a little baby’s face. Since they are like what? 200x times his size? Poor baby. Tell Smudge he is the old baby.

When I got Baler mine all acted like I had brought them a cobra. The hissing, spitting and general nonsense was ridiculous.

Little guy is becoming a menace. He is motoring around now and full of energy ready to wreak havoc. My dog licked his face this morning and he chomped on her nose much to her astonishment. :joy: He’s straight up launching himself at her now he’s so fired up to play. She says it’s getting very nerve-wracking being in the same room as the tiny terror.

It is so cute that his nails appear to not go in all the way so he is never with out his talons.

Awww, that tiny little thing… :revolving_hearts: he’s still so tiny. I can just picture the launch.

Babies can retract their claws at about 4 weeks old, until then the tiny little needles are out all the time.

Oh wow! I did not know that. The things I learn on this forum.

I didn’t know that about kittens’ claws, either! And here I thought I was such a cat expert!

@Cammie, I think we need more photos to be sure we have good examples of those cute little cat paws with nails sticking out all over. We can not be too sure we are seeing this correctly…

Trust me, I will be thrilled once he can retract his claws. He’s got a kung-fu death grip on his bottle now and is shredding my hand because he refuses to let go even when it’s empty.

He slept in a big boy crate and had big boy food for the first time yesterday. His ears are getting bigger every day and he now has that super skinny kitten neck with a big bobble head appearance. :joy:

The video wouldn’t play for me, but he’s grown so much!! So cute!!!

All these foster pictures make me want to do it all over again (and I likely will next spring). We just finished with our last batch and got them safely rehomed (one of them with one of our kids so I can visit her!).

We still have two in-house from one of our previous litters; the oldest is 11 years old now :P. He’s a big orange stripey thing and we took him back to the pound to get adopted and couldn’t figure out why he wasn’t getting snapped up. So we visited him one day and there was this cute little kid going “mummy, mummy, look at this orange one; he’s ever so pretty!” and then we saw a paw come slashing out with claws fully extended and SWIPE, dealt a death blow to the tiny child’s arm. We took him back home and he’s been here ever since. Btw, social media has made rehoming so much easier; you used to have to put them back into the animal control pound here because that was the only way to advertise them.
