Well that looks super on him! I love his elegant profile. If i were to try to draw a perfect horse head, it would look like his.
What a beautiful face! That looks fantastic on him! Seriously, that is a fabulous browband on him.
Thanks for the pictures!
Thank you!! I think he’s handsome, but I am also biased!
Ahem. 15% off at Equiture through the weekend. Code SUMMER15
Now I have to measure my mare for that mega-bling number. She has been a Good Girl the past week or two; starting to grow a brain in her 5 year old skull and needs it appropriately ornamented.
Yesterday was final day for Marquis meds…though actually, my “EPM” mare looked to be normal and has had no neurological issues since 36hrs after vet gave her the Excede injection. So, i am thinking she will be back soon. Maybe i’ll celebrate in advance and buy her a bling-bling.
Question: Not a WB, head is feminine and not huge. Broad forehead and wide eyes though.
How ‘mega’ are the megabling browbands…you know, the ones with two rows top and two rows bottom of small crystals and the middle row of larger stones. Would it be too much for a normal sized horse’s head?
And, would a one row top and bottom even show up on a 16’ (blond) horse… ?
I think the Megabling browbands are kind of a lot. I bought one for my barn owner a couple years ago, and it is just right for her Friesian/TB mare. I have one of the regular 3-row browbands and it works well for my 15.2 mare, though she is a darker chestnut and the smaller opal crystals top and bottom are too much contrast for my taste. While I was buying the Megabling for my 17H warmblood, I bought this one for the smaller horse and think it will be just right for her finer features. Even for the bigger horse, I decided to go with something that would not be super contrast-y to the bridle or her coloring. I think something like a clear and sapphire or emerald would be Too Much even with her larger head.
wondering what the next trend is going to be? Anyone see anything new and exciting lately?
I haven’t seen anything new lately. Annabelle was quite on-trend and got some compliments on her Equiture browband when we showed last week. Just have to show off a pic because she’s purty and I’m loving how this browband looks on her, along with a navy pad and navy coat:
As a kid one of my most prized possessions was a ribbon wrapped browband (like the UK showing ones). It was burgundy and navy with a bit of gold and it looked beautiful on my pony. I’ve always wanted another one, although I’m not sure how it falls under the rules. Multicolored, yes, but not leather or leather like material or decorated with metal/beads/gemstones/crystals. I’m sure they aren’t for everyone but I think they can look really pretty and be quite subtle. I prefer them without the rosettes on the sides, although a friend had one that had small flowers at the sides that looked pretty on her mare.
I’ve never been one for much bling myself but my very dark bay gelding actually looks very nice in some bling, so I might be converted. It also fits his drama-king personality well haha.
What brand of bridle is this?
Funny you should ask! I cannot find where i put it! I got it for my adorable young Standardbred i’ve finally started, and now i have NO IDEA where it is, but if i ever find it i can answer you lol
I’m currently (and about 10 years ago) all over onyx and black cut stones. They look understated until the arena lights hit them right and they SPARKLE! Onyx and actual stones are the next thing!
Says me!
I quite like this too.
My Equiture browband hasn’t really held up/been the best quality, so I’m not sure I want to buy one again. I bought it 4 years ago though (but have hardly used it), so maybe they’re a bit better now.
i’ve been daydreaming about making a browband out of gray seedpearls, and gray rice pearls interspersed with gray diamond beads. **channeling this necklace https://www.facebook.com/CasuallyPretty1z/photos/pcb.2463801803858065/2463798950525017/ I’ve been buying rough cut, (multi faceted)drilled diamonds for a few years and probably have enough gray ones to do a browband. (nothing quite shines like a diamond)
So every day, when i’m out on the tractor doing farm-y things (lately digging out a creek and rerocking the driveway) i’m working out how to make a beaded browband that would be devastatingly beautiful and not too DIY. These are the beaded dog collars i made, and though this process is too clunky for a browband, but i think i can make it tighter, trimmer, more tidy by using a loom and smaller beads and not going freehand. https://www.facebook.com/CasuallyPretty1z/photos/pcb.1993735520864698/1994987767406140
I tend to make, tear apart and remake a few times before i get something just right. So maybe in 6 months i’ll have something done for my mare. Must go through my stash of pearls and see what all i have. I kinda already know my diamond inventory.
Ideas for a buckskin? He’s a little bit woolly and sweaty in that picture so excuse that but it does show his face well.
His forelock is pretty lacking. The photo is kind of deceiving as far as how much forelock is there. He also lost the western mane and a sporting a more dressage appropriate cut
What a beautiful horse! He is a creamy, rather than rosey, colored buck huh.
Black and gold would be matchy-matchy. Add a turquoise into the mix for a pop of color?
This one is on sale : https://equiture.biz/collections/gold-and-bronze-browbands/products/monte-carlo-and-montana-browband
edit: gosh, this one was such a good deal i went ahead and bought one, in a V-shape, for my ponymule
Yes definitely not rosey. In the winter he did get a bit smoky looking I would say but in the summer he’s very creamy and bright.
I absolutely love turquoise or light blues on him. I do think black and turquoise would look stunning.
green. For a buckskin, there is nothing like green. Of course, green is my favorite color but try green.
Lovely!!! You can do so much!!
OK, MY opinion, FWIW. He has a lot of bling with his 4 white socks and star, thin blaze and snip. He’ll catch eyes when all dolled up!! I’d go with an understated browband. Maybe black onyx cut stones surrounded by grey crystals. I think clear crystals are too blingy for his already blingy self. Oooo, I can also see deep blue crystals and deep green crystals. Now THAT can look gorgeous on his gorgeous self. I’d even consider deep green cut stones interspersed with crystals. Oooooooo. The green might be a little warmer than blue and would look incredibly fantastic if you had a hunter dressage coat. Reds and such, no. I would not add pearls because they’d look dull with his chrome.
You have so many options!!! He looks like he has a lovely face, a face to show off!
