Just keep a tight leg and soft hand
Markie will teach you to ride, thats for sure! If he doesnt like you, he lets you know, but if you stay nice and forward, yet relaxed…its an awesome ride!
Wingsy! Poor Pockets! I bet he trusts his mommy to lead him around and have some fun, no matter what is in his eyes

I forgot to mention…
Why doesnt everyone bring a dish and some beverages/libations if you want?
I’ll bring something, I’m just not sure what
I’m always good for a case of Sams
(to BRING that is…)

So do we know what everyone is bringing to eat. We know ETBW is brining BBQ. Maybe we should do a list so we will have everything covered. I’d be willing to bring chips, dip and some beer.
JAGold - would love some of your help myself. I’ve had a major ditch problem with my horse. Of course when I took a lesson with Jimmy Wofford he said it’s not the horse who has the problem in this outfit with ditches. He’s better b/c I’m at a farm with a ditch so I school it just about everyday and he always goes at events and I can ride just a plain ditch, but give me a ditch with something else worked into it, like a ditch and wall or trakener or my latest new fear the elephant trap and I freeze. I’m not ready to revisit a ditch with anything else right now (just had a crash at the beginning of the month) but I need to build trust in my horse over ditches. Ok, I completely rambled on here, but the jest is hopefully you will have some helpful insights for us. I just saw you are from CA, are you going to be there on Sunday?
I’m getting very excited now! I took Sonnet on a trail yesterday and I hadn’t ridden her since Friday and before that I hadn’t ridden her all week (Sick and school). She was perfect. We were 3rd the whole time, she didn’t race and try and catch up, she jumped the one jump with out a problem (She did buck after, but ah well…no biggie). And we cantered through the field with practally no reins. I figure if I can’t jump at Frying Pan, getting her out in the field at a new place will be great practice for our hilltopping debut in the Spring.
I’m sure that who ever would drive me there (Hopefully Mom) would be more than willing to stay and take pictures and help anyone hold horses or whatever. She’s a good horse Mom who tries. And my Dad is pretty good too.
The only conflict I might run into is getting a trailer. My trainers Mom has a 2 horse that I could borrow, but my friend used it this weekend, and said that the lights and something else didn’t work. Hopefully that gets fixed.
I’ll let you guys know though!

But we can’t forget Kudos - The wonder pony!
Mr. Wings, maybe Mr. HN73 and Mr. Clive’s Mom?
You’re going to bring CLIVE!!! How exciting!
I have no idea which wild pony to bring, Navaho or Bailey…
Wingsie,
Please send me a goody bag of some BBQ… If I can’t have a breeding contract to one of the Bonita Farm boys I would love to drown my sorrow in some of your most yumcious BBQ!!
If I finish point chasing early I will drop by to meet and greet all of the BB’rs I have yet to meet.
ETBW - the mini quiches are the BEST…that and the RUM! Yipes! I think everyone needs to have their very own ETBW with them at the horse shows!! LOL!
Kennett Square has given me a passing grade in “Trail Riding 101” and will allow me off-property with the perfect Billy. Now I just have to hitch a transport - or maybe I’ll take Elghund’s suggestion and ride across the Dulles runway over to Frying Pan. After all, its not like Dulles is a busy place these days . . .
Margaret are you going?? This will be so much fun, after our Marathon showing at Culpeper and Capital Challenge all within a week period!
Ohhh my, I wonder if suzy, who wields a mighty frying pan of her own, is aware of this?
Have to check and see
I always learn from getting out, especially from being able to see how other riders cope with their horses and the obstacles. Sort of like watching a course ridden on a horse with striding like your mount so you can pick the best line.
Schooling sessions should be fun, we will all make the most of ours
I tried to get on the Fairfax County Park Authority web site today to get some info but the site was down. Anyone know if the indoor or other rings are booked for the 7th?
This WILL be a rain or shine excursion. The Difficult Run site gives very good descriptions of the footing around the jumps and what one can expect from each effort. I suggest participants in our little soiree check out the pictures and think ahesd to what will be the “problem” jump for the individual horse/rider combos. It isn’t always the jump we expect that is SCARY!!!
I noticed a pony eating chicken coop! But I would bet that Pockets handles the logs just fine (he has done them on trail for years!)
Bring a towel and spare clothes, someone is bound to get wet! Sure hope it isn’t a despicable pony laying down in the water
We’re in, just need some advance notice. I think the first weekend in October would work.
If you and the “wagon-o-delicacies” will be there at nine, I will be there with you!
I’m all for an entire day…We may even ride more than once! So its official…Get there when you want But if you want to enjoy all that mother Wing’s has to offer, I suggest you get there early
More importantly…We need a name for this festival. Alright people…gimme some suggestions.
The first annual COTH CROSS COUNTRY CONFRONTATION.
Come on folks…Help me out here. Standing at a Hay auction half the day has turned my brain cells to mush!

The barbecue has to have time to heat up in the crock pot.
Besides, this is one outing that I am closer to than you!
I’m not sure yet…But I might be there for the sale with a friend

I saw her! Shese riding again! Theres PROOF!
Last time I was there I had brought both the boys. Ordained-the-annoying (GOT to STOP calling him that!) was perfect. No stops, actually he was taking me upto the fences. Finish with him and get on Mardi-the-perfect (he used to be Mardi-the-@ss). Schooled around nicely having a blast. Come up to one of the big coops. It had been angled tward the cow pasture. Beautiful approach, Mardi’s doing his thing. As SOON as we take off over the coop a cow moos. Mardi’s heads pops up and BAM we’er outta there! I have never seen a horse do a U turn while in mid air (much less been on top)!! It would have been scary if I hadn’t been laughing so hard…
