Full seat breeches for schooling, without diaper butt

I need some light-weight full-seat breeches for these hot summer months. The knee-patch ones are slippery when I’m schooling dressage, especially on greenies. However my current hard-wearing breeches which are great for fall/winter/spring (Tuff Riders and Irideon) give me extreme diaper butt in the summer. The Inverness Problem is… a problem.

Has anyone tried the ones with silicone strips, like these? This is an Australian site, but I can’t get the shopping cart to work to even see if they ship.

Or these, with dots? From a German site.

Are the Kerritts Flex Tights light enough? I like their Sit Tights for shows, but they are so sticky they cause sauna-like sweating and rip the skin off if you’re not careful!

I love the flex tights and pretty much ride only in them now; I just put them on over woolies in the winter. The fabric is much lighter than the sit tights, and the patches breathe better. I save my sit tights for those XC days when I think may need to hang on with one sticky butt-cheek.

Hands down, my favorites are FITS. I love the microfiber fabric, and the deerskin and design are great IMO. I think I find they are cooler and more comfortable than just about anything (the only thing maybe cooler for me are the Irideon tights, but not nearly as grippy). They seem to keep their form under any conditions, and those full seats keep me in the saddle!

I have a pair of the old Kerrits sit tight things, and hate them! Those feel disgusting to me, even when I’m not that hot! I think the fact that they don’t breathe at all. I’m not sure if the new ones you linked to are like that, so maybe someone else will chime in. ETA that I see someone else has chimed in on the Kerrits…

The Kerrits flex tights are not very breathable…they make you sweat in uncomfortable places.

Tropical Rider makes very durable, lightweight tights. I had a pair of Tropix with a clarino full seat that was ok in summer weather. The Prixtec knee patches are my favorite summer tights, hands down. They have a good sale going on until the end of today!

How about these for summery breeches? But maybe they only come in knee patch. Quel dommage.

Now that I’m in 90F (it’s all F here – tell someone it’s 30 and they look at you like you’re nuts) Southern Pines, the Horseware jeans-esque breeches are my favorite. Not really full seat but they ride like it, and the fabric is mostly cotton so very breathable. I can even forgive the horrid pocket logo for their comfort.

The sizing is a little odd, however. I take a 28, they do run small (not short, just tight) in the legs and have more room at the waist.

FITS are amazing in hot weather! Super grippy and very breathable…love the gusseted crotch and I don’t feel like I’m tugging at my breeches to get them back in the right place all the time. I also like Irideon products a lot but you can’t beat the segmented design of the FITS full seats.

Another vote for FITS. Although for the record, I solved this problem in another, cheaper way: a suede seat cover for my saddle. (Yes, I take it off for shows and don full-seat breeches, but it’s still way the heck cheaper than owning a million full-seat breeches.) You can buy them direct from theotherseat.com, or you can get them from ridingright.com. I’ve done both.

As you like the Kerrits why not just try their Ice Fil Tights

I didn’t know about these- they seem perfect!

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone! I look forward to more comfortable riding…

I love the Kerrits Crossovers and that’s pretty much all I wear now. I’ve got three pairs of FITS that I would like to rehome.

I think the Kerrits are best for someone who has more narrow hips (or wider waist).

30+ years riding. FITS are the best ever. Pricey, but worth it IMHO. I take good care of mine and launder them exactly as recommended by the manufacturer.

I like the Kerrits flex tights, wear them all summer. The full seat material is perforated, so it’s quite breathable.

I’ve tried on FITS, a few different models, they were all extremely high waisted and just did not fit correctly and were very unflattering. They seem way over priced for what they are.

So my vote would be Kerrits.

I was going to order a pair and then saw all the negative reviews. Apparently the “ice fill” part is made of cheap plastic. No thanks. I’m going to fork out some extra dough and invest in FITS.

I love the icefil tights.

Icefil is a material…the whole breech is made of icefil.

The little carrots are silicone and no, they’re not glue, but I have no issues with mine. They’re so soft and fuzzy it’s like riding in pajamas. Love mine.

This is great news - I have a pair of Kerrits knee patch breeches like this that I LOVE - they are so cool in the summer and so, so soft. But so slippery for dressage! And I like the price on the Ice Fils - will give them a try.

Imagine the look on GM’s face when I submit my photo for Jumping Clinic

I bought the black and gray from riding warehouse with 15% off through Evention.

FYI: the waist on the Kerrits ice fils are little bigger than their other breech lines.

The Elation Platinum Hudson full seat breeches are really comfortable, and breathe/wick well in hot weather. I like the wider waistband, too. I’d call them mid-rise, and they have the stretchy ankle instead of Velcro. The seat is not too slippy and not too grippy. The sizing is a smidge smaller than TS, but pretty similar. No diaper butt.

I like the look of those; and available in Canada - bonus.
