Full seat breeches for schooling, without diaper butt

Not a Kerrits or FITS fan. Spent the winter in Ocala in 2012 and it was HOT. VERY HOT. Tropical Riders were diaper -esque. I found some Ariat Olympia breeches. They are da bomb–wash up nice with regular detergent and can go through the dryer too. Great material, no diaper, very lightweight. Love them.

Lori T, wasn’t Devon Aire making something like the All-Pro or X-Pro full seat last season that was supposed to be very lightweight? I saw them mentioned on another thread but never ended up buying any and now am regretting that decision as I have only a single pair of Smartpak Pipers which are great up until about 80 but get very hot after that, and I missed the ebay auction on a beautiful pair of All-Circuit full seats in my size :frowning:

I haven’t ridden in the Kerrits Crossovers yet but I will say I got to see some in person at a local shop and the style is super cute and the material FELT like it would be very light and cool…

Yes! The All Pros come in a ribbed full seat. This is a great fabric, very light weight and moisture wicking. Great for hot and humid weather. They changed them up a bit, with a contrasting seat color:

You can also find photos on my facebook page, LT Equine, just scroll down a bit.

FITS here. We came out with a tropical weight breech that is easy care- both machine wash and dry- for hot summer weather riding. And the price is great too. Of course we are biased and completely agree with the other FITS lovers on this thread about our segmented full seats… But for hot weather, easy care at a budget, try these: http://www.fitsriding.com/collection/A613

Everyone should just wait a decade or two and then we will all need the breeches with a diaper butt.

Checking in

Hi all, just checking in. I have now tried a few of these suggestions.

Next on the list was Flex Tights. Once I got them I realized I had owned a pair of these about 8 years ago. They have very thin material (quite cool and breathable, but also shows all the lumps) except for the full seat patches. Although I agree I do get sweaty butt in them, it’s not as bad as normal full seats - doesn’t feel like diaper butt and seemed like the seams wouldn’t rub the way normal full seats do. The gaps between the seat and the leg material does help. They are nice and grippy and I quite liked them for XC.

I stumbled upon a pair not mentioned here, the Lauria Garrelli Dots full seats and splurged - they have the silicone grips (love) which totally prevents the diaper butt. They are thicker, structured fabric which isn’t as cool as some of the others - but they also look fabulous, hide the lumps, and every time I’ve worn them I’ve had compliments.

Anyway - it’s July 28, it was 37*C today (about 100 degrees F) and I don’t have the Inverness problem yet - so I consider that a success!

The Kerrits Kombi has different fabric and while still cool, are a bit more modest. They are not as cool as the Flex Tights but still very comfortable in hot weather.

Also, I have one pair of Flex Tight II’s in the grey houndstooth and that material is different than the regular Flex Tights. Not sure if all the IIs have this different material of if it’s just the houndstooth ones. Its a bit more substantial than the regular Flex Tights, hides more.

Blugal - those Lauria Garelli breeches look pretty nice!
How does the waistband fit - is it normal or lower style (meaning, does it come over your bellybutton or not?). I don’t see that in the description on the website.

I’d call them a mid-rise. They aren’t low, but not as high as belly button either. I’ve worn them without a belt with no problem (and I don’t “do” low-rise at all).

Piping back in here. Tried on the Kerrits Crossovers at the tack shop today and LOVE the material. Sized up a little to get a slightly looser fit which made them feel even cooler. I think the full seat would be reasonably grippy without being too sweaty.

Bought and rode in a pair of the FITS Treads Lite - for epic 100+ degree days they are AWESOME. So they are definitely tights and mayyyybe a little lumpy looking but the material is silky and amazing feeling, and they have a super useful cargo pocket on the leg that my iPhone fits in perfectly. I will be using these a LOT for my conditioning and xc schoolings! I would love them even more if they were like a dusty blue or light grey color (their “lead” is a little dark for summer riding for me)… Also my athletic 7yo did a massive buck-wiggle move trying to catch up to the horse we were doing canter sets with and despite getting somewhat shuffled to the left I managed to stay on, so the dots definitely helped at least somewhat with grip!

Finally I also tried on the new Goode Rider Perfect Fit full seats today. Of the three of these, these might be my favorite in terms of having a very lightweight breech that’s actually a breech and looks grown up. The breech material itself is super stretchy and the lightest weight of any of the Goode Riders that I’ve seen (I’ve avoided them until now b/c they always seem overly sturdy/heavy). The back pockets are really cute and the wide waistband is really comfy. Size is similar to the Ovations I would say. The “Khaki” color is just a little darker than the kerrits and FITS tan/sahara colors, I actually really like it. Apparently these come in a “graphite” as well which looks to be a very pretty light grey - so I am going to order those for sure! LOVE the Goode Riders. Wish they were more affordable.

The FITS lite look interesting. I’m not sure about the sizing - I am usually a 4 or 6 depending on the cut, so that would be a small, but I take a 28 breech in most brands, so that would be a medium? Anyone care to help?

Justhoofit - I wear a 6 in most women’s pants (sometimes I can squeeze into a 4 at the Gap if I am lucky) and I am usually a 28 in Ariat, SmartPak, Tredstep breeches. I size up to a 30 in Ovation, and also sized up to the 30 in the Goode Riders. I tried a pair of FITS Beka breeches in small earlier this year and I was strangled by the small waist on them so I ordered the Treads Lite in M and they are great. They are cut quite long and go right down to my ankles (I am 5’5" on a good day) so unless you’re ultra-tall length shouldn’t be an issue. IMO if you want to minimize lumps and panty lines etc, especially in the very pale “Sahara” color, maybe go with the medium?

I love Kerrits Cross Overs! They are still nice looking but not super expensive and I don’t find them extremely hot. I’ve been wanting to try FITS but so expensive!

Thanks - how is the rise? Sounds like I would be a medium, but sometimes when I size up I wind up having pants that come up too high for my taste.

Cross overs - I have them, and I like them. They aren’t perfect though. I am in Florida so super hot and humid, especially this summer. The cross overs are a tad tight in the leg, and after you’ve been sweating they can be hard to remove - the material seems to glue on to your skin and you have to literally peal them off. But, I find them comfortable, fit well, and the look is flattering. The full seat cross overs are similar in price to the FITS treads lite (can get the FITS for $115 shipped on ebay and crossovers on Smartpak are $105 shipped).

Justhoofin - the rise on my M FITS Treads Lite measures about 10.5" from the top of the waistband to the midpoint of the crotch-gusset thing. It’s about 8" from the top of the waistband to the top of the crotch-gusset area.

If I got the crossovers at some point I would actually get them in a L. I tried on both the medium and the L (almost all the other Kerrits I have worn have been M and I think my sit tight n warm are actually S?!) and I would agree with you about the legs being very snug on them. Especially in the light tan color I felt like I had major VPL and you could even see the pocket outlines. The larges were pretty gappy in the waist but I am a freak about always wearing a belt, and I thought they might be cooler if they weren’t superglued to my thighs.

Promise - thanks for those measurements I’ll have to compare.

As a note to the cross overs, you might want to try them on before ordering a large. I am a bit roomy in the mediums; 5’7" approx 130 lbs. If the rise were any higher I would be unhappy. Technically I could squeeze into the smalls.
