Further frivolity here... browbands.

We are recovering from a hoof abscess, so we need a new sparkly thing to make us feel better…

We have a Dobert split crown bridle, which complicates the issue–the loops on the side need to be quite big to accommodate two padded straps and the little separator thing that looks like a keeper turned sideways. (It is ancient, looks lovely, fits the old man beautifully and he’s more comfortable in it than any other bridle we’ve tried, so here we are…)

I’d like to find a narrow-ish swoopy browband with sapphire blue crystals. I’d really like to not pay the painful price to have a Dobert one sent to me from Europe.

Any ideas I may have missed, please?

Try googling Montar browbands their loops are pretty big. PS of Sweden might have big loops also.

I had a great browband made by Dark Jewel Desgins on Etsy. The loops are pretty big and I think will work for your needs. The plus side is she has endless options to choose from and will mock up a few samples and send photos during the design process to help you choose!

Equiture will make whatever you like… I sent them pictures of my rolled bridle which had a bit of an unusual shape and they made one that worked perfectly. And she has a ton of blue options to choose from! https://equiture.biz/collections/blue-and-teal-browbands

Signed, one abscess, one NQR, one retired and one new pony… let’s say I have been doing a lot of shopping lately…

Thank you–that gives me some options to play with! (Lucasasb, I also have the retired-but-decided-he-isn’t-any-more… he needs some shopping doing as well.)

ps of sweden has these button loops that if i remeber right are pretty big although they are quite the investment att about 80€

I am a big fan of POH. The prices seem expensive but I’ve never had a POH break down on me. I’ve had plenty of other brands lose jewels, settings, etc. I won’t buy anything else anymore and I always get wonderful compliments.

There is nothing wrong with a little therapeutic shopping!!!

Lucasb, until your post, I didn’t realize I needed one of these! They are lovely!! It will be very difficult to pick one.

Oh, you will definitely need more than one, LOL… sorry not sorry!

FSS. Pretty sure I ordered mine on either British or german eBay and the seller gave three options for shape and three for size, then about twenty colors. Probably paid less than $50 shipped. I’d get a larger one and tweak it to fit your bridle.

Thanks for all the suggestions–it’s turned into the abscess from hell, still fighting it and it’s goo, two vet visits so far, now blown out the heel bulb and onto a course of antibiotics, so I’m way too superstitious to buy anything fancy and new until we are on the upswing… sigh. He’s a very sad horse at the moment.

If you are still shopping - take a look at this website. They have LOTS and the price is right.

Recent hunter convert here… are clinchers still a thing or are they super passé now? I don’t know if I’m quite ready for full rhinestone bling (yet ), but I was always jealous of those for some reason.

2tempe, have you bought browbands from that site? If so, how is the fit? They seem a little shorter than I would expect with “full” at 15.5".

Clinchers are kind of out of style, but no reason not to get that kind if it’s what you like. However, you might look at browbands with natural stones or glass beads as a subtler option than rhinestones.

Ah, Lucassb, now you have done it.

And here I thought I just had a saddlepad ‘problem’.

MsM - no I was about to order, but someone gave me a blingy very long browband. I personally was going to order the oversize (warmblood). And I figured, maybe incorrectly , that the curve would give me a bit of flexibilty. They sure were pretty and I might still go down this path give the price.
