"Fury"

Did you spend Saturday mornings watching this?

“The story of a horse and the boy who loved him”

Yup, one of my Sat morning staples way back when…

You bet!

Of course.

Absolutely, though I saw it in reruns on WGN 9 out of Chicago after the wonder of cable TV came to southwestern lower Michigan in the early/mid 1970s.

Ah the memories

Oh, yes! I had a crush on Jim Newton (Peter Graves). From what I remember, I believe “Fury” was played by an American Saddlebred Stallion and was pretty darn smart.

There’s a story (best as I can remember it) where a ‘bad guy’ is supposed to try to steal Fury, who is in a stall. When the bad guy opens the stall, Fury runs past him to escape. Supposedly, the actor playing the bad guy was SO surprised by “Fury” galloping by him that he forgot his lines. At that, “Fury” stopped, gave him a disgusted look, and walked back into the stall for the re-take.

Absolutely!

Yes! Peter Graves was my first “crush” too. But he still only came 2nd to Fury. Did you know that Peter Graves’ brother was James Arness?

One of my favorites as a horse-crazy kid! I’ve still got a couple of old Fury books: Fury & the Mustangs, and Fury, Stallion of Broken Wheel Ranch.

The ASB that played Fury was the same horse that starred in the movie Gypsy Colt, which was a retelling of Lassie Come Home, only with a horse, not a collie. LOL

I remember that movie. He also played Black Beauty. I think he won a Patsy award.

I grew up in France and I watched it too.

oh yes indeed I remember Saturday mornings with Fury!!

Yep, loved that show! We only had one station we could get partly because we were in the mountains of SW PA and partly because Mom wouldn’t even consider an antenna in the new house as the antenna in the old house was struck by lightning. It caused the TV to melt, 22 windows and 3 doors blown off and a couple of windows in the next door neighbors home were blown out. :frowning:
Fortunately there wasn’t a fire. As a result there were a lot of shows I missed growing up but I do remember the Lone Ranger and Tonto and Fury.

I couldn’t wait until Saturday mornings so I could watch Fury. Even as an adult, every time I saw Peter Graves in Mission Impossible, “That’s Joey’s father!” would flash through my mind.

Absolutely. Fury, Lassie and Rin Tin Tin were my lifeblood as a child.

Yup, not the reruns either:no:. Dam I’m old.

It was on with Rin Tin Tin, Wild Bill Hicock, The Lone Ranger, Broken Arrow (I think it was in that group) and…Ummm…Roy Rogers. Flicka too sometimes, didn’t like that one. I think there might have been a Thunderhead too…and Spin and Marty on the MMC after school on I forget which day.

Cool.

I never liked Seventh Heaven, but I wish they’d filmed an episode of “The Colonel” riding with Ruthie. They could’ve found him a chestnut with a white blaze!
