Games Trainers Play: The Florida Horse Saga
I’m stating the obvious, but she needs to put an immediate stop to this bs and get him home pronto…not that it’s any of my business, but you’re friend is kind of starting to piss me off.

How can anyone let themselves be jerked around like this??

WOW.
I know… I just don’t get it anymore. I was trying to be the supportive yet firm voice in the background, but now its just worthless. I just make the correct noises at the correct time when I talk to her.

Oblique fracture of the fibula, and some chips on the top part of his ankle joint. He freaks OUT with needles, so I think he was too tense for the first shots to touch him. My nursing friend called him and told him to ask for hydrocodone… hopefully he’ll do that. And it’ll work.

Poor Horse.

Poor Matt.

And poor Eponacowgirl who is going to be expected to pick up all the pieces as this runaway train continues to derail.

Your friend needs someone to slap some sense back into her.

DITTO!

I regularly provide services such as these in exchange for a nominal fee… but in this case, I am willing to do it free of charge. PM me for details.

There are NO icons to express the emotions that I am feeling right now!!!

These people knew how long the trial period was for. For them to even suggest the idea of extending it so they can show the horse is absolutely ridiculous! It sounds like they really like the horse, but if they are still not certain after this time, then they are never going to know! The trial period is over. I would give them 24 hours to decide yes or no (and that is being generous). They owe your friend the original agreed upon purchase price. If they can pay x-500 now, then they can send her the $500 on the 15th. (If they skip out on a few shows, they will certainly have that money available). As the saying goes “The purchase price of the horse is the least expensive part of horse ownership”. Are they going to be able to afford the horse once they have him?

I am proud of her for trying to stand up for herself. Confrontations are hard (I despise them), but I wish she had not given in.

I know a few people up this way in Maryland who are now looking for horses. She should say she has other people interested and insist on bringing him home if they are not going to make up their mind… see if that gets the ball rolling.

Secretly I think I am glad that this didn’t work out quite as perfectly as planned…I have become obsessed with this thread, and I am not sure what I will do with myself once it FINALLY comes to an end…
That being said, I am also in the process of conjuring up curses!

Im surprised your friend can even stand up, shes been run over so many tmies by these professionals!

I hope they’re at least using lubricant! Because they are really screwing her over.

I’d suggest she demand either horse on commercial shipper van and back in same condition NOW or full payment wired to her account NOW. No more diddling around.

At least it’s an education for her. I hope.

I think what gets me the most about the situation is that the horse is really NOTHING extraordianary.

Don’t get me wrong, he’s nice, and he’s priced appropriately, maybe a little under what she could get for him in peak season, but he’s not some 50k imported, pro-trained warmblood or something.

He’s a solid bay OTTB. He’s a nice mover. He’s scopey. He has flying changes… most of the time. He has lots of miles. He places well at local shows.

I wouldn’t say hes a dime a dozen… but… you know… I just don’t see it being worth it.

I also worry about the home they’re going to give him. If they’re causing this much rukus now, what happens when he belongs to them???

UUUURRRRRRG!!!

i would high tail it down and go and et him back–before she loses him
becuase i dont think they have him –
anyone can send a video if they sold him to new people they just get a video and thn resend to her simple

these people are devious and devious people play scams –
for one thing why chnage his name—

that horse is somewhere else – i think

she got the address - of where he surpose to be no call time just jump on a palne in a car and do surprize visit
if horse is there then get back on to coth to get him back - as iam sure people onhere could and would help out if they have there own transpsort and for a bit of diesel money could move him back home in sections of trips its been done before for a less person thats used people but in this case the horse and the person in question need help to get him home
if he there
i would jump on the plane with your mate and see exaclty what happening no ifs or butts
you can work out the trnasport bit back later if they havent got him then i would take my documents of ownership to the nearest police station and report the horse as stolen by the people her up front fee can be used as depsoit for the horse if they ask for it back its not returnable as they have used the horse in question since november and the fee is charged accordenly-- so there fore in case she spent it and hasnt got enough to return alter the course of the fee —

go down there and see if they still have him- becuase i bet they havent

in comparison a real true storey

as theres good and bad with everyone

there was this dealer - or agent if you like
that took horses for reschooling – or for sale was a trainer hence the reschooling
look for horses for people and sold for a fee
they as people look for persific types of clients having serveral names and moby nos
they would get th horses in from people as most wont to get rid of as to much as in over horsed or to big to small but horses ingernal werent nnaughty itd wasnt the horses that they sort after but the type of client with a horse – ie a doughnut mug twit a perosn that never done it before and has no idea that sort of person ie like your matey a person with lack of expreince
then what they would do is swap it say they selling for you and keep you on the never never saying its on trial - but swap it in- change its name so not your horse
and then if swapped enough neither the buyer nor sellar knows who horse is where and who owns it – goes on

the perosn in question after 12yrs of doing this has now been cuaght and up for fruadulent charges – as a crimnal offence

but it doesnt help the people that have lost there horses or there money if to be sold or exchanged
dont beleive people are as honest as they say especially long distance they think the distance can put miles between them and you wouldnt dream of going all that way to check up on them so they continue the art of deception

mate in real world people are devious and depceptive its knowing when you could be done your freind had all the warning possibale this is a scam

but didnt heed them-- so get on a plane in a car whatever and go and get the horse back if its still there no excuses just do

Don’t forget they have changed his feed and supplements too ! Who wants to bet they will continue to ask for extensions until show season is over. Or they are having multiple kids trying this horse and are getting offers therefore dickering with owner to maximize THEIR profit! Really does you friend care that they could be running her horse in the ground so that IF she gets him back he won’t be the same horse that left mentally or physically? I would have been at there door so fast to pick the horse up they would have thought Scotty beamed me there! I’m with whoever said horse is probably not at origional farm anymore…I bet they are sending them on “trials” of their own. A vid will show the horse but since she didn’t see the origional facilities or the origional buyers she won’t know if he’s at the same barn! The idea of lese fee is nice, but seweing as they haven’ t pd her a dime so far I doubt she’d see of that either. Good luck with this mess,
"

Ah, remind your friend that FLORIDA has the new TRANSPARENCY laws - she can sick the cops on these people…

I will be down there from around the 16th for a week, if she wants to send in a spy…

Seriously, she is getting screwed, to say the least… How much you want to bet the trainer is sellng the horse for 3 or 4 times as much money!!!

Anyone in Fl now who could go check out the situation?? COTHBB’ers to the rescue!!

Let’s see…they have her horse, and have not paid for him. She wants him back, they won’t send him. Sounds like theft to me. Time to call the police.

There are lots of COTHers in Fl.

How can we help?

Sounds like theft to me to. If this were my horse (I wouldn’t have sent him to FL for a trial to begin with but…) I’d be down there now to pick him up.

This is ridiculous! Jingles for Matt. Your friend definitely needs a slap in the head. I’m sorry she’s not listening to your words of wisdom EC. :frowning:

Something that Goeslikestink said resonated with me. I’m thinking these people are flipping the horse: they don’t even own him, and they’ve probably got someone else trying him who needs to go to one show.

In any event, I go back to wire transfer. If they want the horse to stay, they should wire transfer all but the $500 immediately.

I really think your friend needs to take advantage of one of these offers from FL COTH’ers. Perhaps if an actual person were to show up IN FLORIDA on behalf of the owner, these people might quit jerking her around! I’m sure they feel kind of like they can do what they want because they have the horse, and they are so far away and obviously, the owner’s not gonna go get him… That might change if a Florida person steps up (for owner) and, say - asks for the check or threatens to load the beastie up!

Man, sometimes it sucks being right. I really wanted this to work out this time.

I ditto this. It’s way past time.

Now what does the horse owners trainer (the mother of the so called trainer in FL if I have it right) have to say about this whole mess??? Or is she just as crooked??:frowning:

OH MY GOD.

Full payment or on a trailer within 24 hours. Or she calls the police.

But, given that your friend has already said that the trial period can be extended for another 2 weeks I would definitely arrange for an air-tight lease contract WITH a fee. Or, maybe a surprise visit to Florida is in order. Can’t she do something with the trainers that are supposedly her friends or something?

She at LEAST needs to demand a lease fee at this point. Unvelievable!! I would have demanded the horse be at my doorstep the next day. But then I wouldn’t have done most of the things she’s done . . .

These buyers and their trainer deserve to be outed to the world.
