Games Trainers Play: The Florida Horse Saga

The RE market sucks everywhere… Michigan has been hit extremely hard by it. Heck, the foreclosure notices are paying for our newspaper right now!

Looking at those photos made me cringe. I don’t even jump and wanted to scream at the rider to RELEASE!

My guess is that owner will let this horse go for whatever lowball price she can get from these current people IF they offer a price after the PPE. Owner can’t afford the horse so is just looking to get ride of the poor horse for whatever amount she can get. She’s probably afraid that if these people don’t buy the horse, she won’t be able to sell the horse anytime soon. My suggestion would be if there’s SERIOUSLY other people interested in buying this horse, get in contact with the owner and start making offers.

gls, you are really positive if you think the seller will get 5K out of this deal!! The way they have been playing, she’d be lucky to end up with $500 when they take off the board, shipping, commissions etc. That is IF she gets anything at all!:([/QUOTE]

i know she isnt really gonna get that much

but you got stay on the bright side of love------oh um
meaning— be positive –

better to have some sort of good vibes- so positive it is for all - especially nice little horse

I vote owner continues to act as she has been and stays with this deal…and ends up OWING the “buyers”.

Seriously, I wouldn’t get too anxious about hooking anybody else up here without the owner’s participation…and so far she is a bystander in this COTH drama. She has never posted or communicated with us. We probably shouldn’t try to sell her horse for her without contacting her first.

Somebody also mentioned this earlier…we are getting only the one side. While not defending these lowlife “trainers” for setting this up, there may be things we do not know about and communications that were not shared with Epona who then shared them with us.

We probably shouldn’t try to sell her horse for her without contacting her first.

      When has that little bit of protocol ever stopped COTHers??? You guys are truly amazing!!!  I’ve seen some pretty great things happen to some lucky people and horses over the years…

If I were the owner I would put some ads up on the Internet just in case these folks decide they’re not interested after the PPE, or don’t want to pay the big bucks!   That way, hopefully, there would be another buyer waiting in the wings–the one with the most bucks gets the horse…

If the person Woodland contacts is really interested in the horse, I saw a phone number at the end of the video…

(been lurking and enjoying the roller coaster ride. It’s mirrored my week at work!)

Um… they saw it to  They have also enjoyed this thread emensly so far - They wanted to know if the “buyer” was P.T. Barnum

They are going to contact the seller directly as I do not know anything about this horse but what has been posted here. I do not know the owner/seller either - so it is out of my hands. I know that my person had a budget of $10K for an am adult rider. I had connected them with a few other horses. But since they are in Ocala for the winter, and the horse is in Winter Haven I figured why not? I haven’t a clue as to if he is right for them or not - they have to decide if the want to step in this pile or not.

Any who they were at the show last weekend and are tryng to connect the dots to figure out the inept trainer - they think it must be a wannabe instead of an is one. Kimberwick- dead give away.

I advised them to contact seller so she has an option when the low ball offer comes in. Otherwise they might get stuck absorbing the costs the idiot "buyers " have incurred thus far. I thnk it will be a hoot anda half when they say $1500 take or leave it and she says “leave it. he’ll be picked up in an hour.” And they stand there wondering why they spent $2K and have NOTHING to show for it.:lol::lol:

Can not wait until the “buyers” next move :lol::lol:

Oooooh!!! Yet another plot twist! We have so much to look forward to…hearing how the show went this weekend, the PPE, someone else contacting the owner who is seriously interested in buying the horse. Can’t wait to see how all this plays out. Usually, I just look at these boards during the week when I’m at work but this thread is good enough to make me come here on the weekend!! :D:yes:

Woodland {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}

I LOVE YOU!!! YOU ARE MY HERO!!

Sometimes I wonder if these people have a clue?? Donkeyman, did we ever find out if we had an update on the outcome of the show? Did the horse in question pin?

I have been following from the beginning, but I must say… I bow down to Woodland’s superior plot twisting skills. Let’s all jingle that this saintly creature gets a home he deserves

What a great ending that would be!

Speaking of Barnum, I think if it works out, they should change his show name yet again to P.T. Barnum in memory of this fiasco. And he could still be called Mr. T.

I look forward to the update!

good lord people, it’s not a scam if the seller agrees to all of it!!! Unbelievable. Whole thing is unbelievable.

Hmm. Interesting. So buying and selling is now allowed on the board as long as you create enough drama beforehand?

The boards are not a free forum for arranging sales of horses. This thread has been very popular and we will be more closely reviewing it to hopefully remove marketing material instead of closing it.

Thanks.

Thank you for allowing this thread to remain open! This has been one of the most informative threads on horse selling as I’ve seen in a long time. I hope it will be archived and the title changed to reflect the pitfalls of sending a horse out on trial. Now I know why people don’t allow trials away from their farms! I think I always knew that logically it wasn’t a good idea, but this thread just drives that idea home in a big way!

If you can’t find a Thoroughbred in Florida for this kid to ride then you just aren’t looking hard enough! I still don’t understand why you have to import them… That should have been the first big, red, flag…

Oh, eggy! At this point we’ve given up having sympathy for the seller and have just shifted it to the poor horse. I’d like to see this have a dramatic ending… Who knows, this could be the next “made for TV” movie…

Can anybody give me a quick redux of, like, the last 12-14 pages? Plus a link to the video? I appear to have missed a lot of the action. I did see the pics which are terrifying. :frowning:

And I’m with Cherry, this really HAS been an enlightening thread on horse selling. ESG is right, I really must be naive - it just amazes me that anyone would try to take a seller this way and that a seller would continue to bend over for it!

Apparently seller has agreed to let horse stay until 18th because only specialist vet can do PPE on a horse that has been there 6-8 weeks because that vet is a specialist in TB foot problems. Bets being placed on how much the TB specialist will find wrong with OTTB’s feet and legs.

Trainer/Thing 1 has told seller to bascially sit there and take it saying she was “pretty sure” they were going to buy the horse. Pretty much “face the wall and think about England.” Trainer 2 has “learned a lot” in this process as well, according to Thing 1, her mother. She FINALLY noticed the horse was getting hit in the mouth every jump when seller emailed pics to Trainer 2’s mommy.

Folks have stocked up on adult beverages and popcorn to await the end of the saga. Quite a few folks are sure the seller will end up owing the “buyers” money for board, training, etc after the vet(s) are done picking him apart with the PPE. Seller has already turned down their offer to have him put back on a trailer once so basically “buyers” realize they have ALL the leverage. The only outside twist is that another COTHer might know someone who can or will match the uber-lowball offer we’re all expecting.

That’s about it for now.
