as in regards to bit— its a fulmer snaffle---- and in this case does not do what it sould becuase it has something missing

On a plus note for the trainer…if word of mouth is how she works, words of the mouth she is surely getting! This is a lot of free publicity! Good and bad

Even if your horse is a seasoned traveler, there’s a big difference between trailering to shows and rides in the neighboring town and traveling across the country or to another country. So have a look at that.

Well, you KNOW that they’re not going to be able to pay on/after the 15th, because, you know, they just dropped BIG BUCKS on a horse show! Maybe they’ll ask for another drop in price, too, because the horse won’t do as well at the horse show as they wanted it to do…

But, LuckyDonkey, the young owner apparently doesn’t want the horse back… she’s already counting on the dollars for rent/tuition etc… so she doesn’t have much leverage or motivation to drive down or otherwise demand his return.

She has none at all…and she does not have the horse or the money either. Likely will continue to not have either horse or money for some time. Any contract she may have had would not specify Jan 15th so would already be breached. Maybe she really could not afford the keep the horse at all and that is part of why she is letting this continue. Who knows.

There is really nothing we can do but continue to follow this and refer to it when people ask about how to sell a horse and trial periods.

Epona, you need to at least find out which show they are taking the poor horse to so that the Florida COTHers can go see if (and that’s a big IF) the horse is actually there. I am jumping on the horse has already been flipped bandwagon and thinking that he is long gone by now. If the potential buyers are showing, bet it isn’t your friend’s horse the kid is riding.

Worth noting it is that favorite of the bait and switch and frequent ringer-a rather common looking plain bay. Who has addmittedly had a name change.

I’ve looked at alot of horses but if that show is Littlewood or something with 600+ horses? I couldn’t pick out a single plain bay TB type as this horse. Especially if it’s under yet a different name and I have no idea what division it might be in.

It may be the buyer here is just broke and dumb but it may be more and that is troubling.

BTW…where in FL is this horse supposed to be? Do we know it’s Wellington? Or up along the north border for Jacksonville? Or an Ocala pre circuit show?

Friend is going to be in a position to be financially responsible as the owner if something goes wrong at that show. She has every right to know where it is and, exactly, whose name is going on the entry as responsible party-or who is forging hers. Seriously…know somebody who got dinged by a show when a so called friend “borrowed” her horse and the entry and stall check bounced.

These people are cutting friend out of ownership but that will change if something goes wrong. Then it will be all hers again along with the bills. That’s too much risk for a broke college student, she needs to act.

guys, pre-circuit for hits does not start here until the 23rd., i am thinking maybe more towards tampa, or orlando. always small schooling type shows down there. but i tell you what, if that horse does flip out and hurt another horse or god forbid someone’s kid that is showing, you better believe the orginal owner will be contacted, because she will most likely be getting sued! she really needs to go and get this horse. i understand she is broke and cannot afforsd to keep him ,but at this rate, she pretty much just gave him away. she is notgoing to see the money, and if she does get any money, it will be a very small % of what the orginal price was to start with.
if they do come back with something was wrong on the xrays, she as the owner should ask for the films to be sent to her vet to be looked at, also a written report, DO NOT JUST TAKE THEIR WORD THAT SOMETHING WAS WRONG ON THE PRE-PURCHASE!
i worked for an equine vet for years and that is normal.
i really did feel sorry for this girl, but this is just getting to be too stupid!
