In The Netherlands yesterday, at the yearly studbook inspection of the Gelderlander horses two excellent Gelderlanders were equally the best.
One of them is Bodessa, a full sister of Adessa that was the best dressage horse of America at the KWPN studbook inspection last year. The owners of Bodessa and Adessa are new breeders of Gelderlander horses.
The other is Brenda. Her owner is the breeder of Manno, the most famous Dutch Harness Horse stallion. He has a Gelderlander without hackney blood now again.
So Gelderlander horses are gaining ground.
As requirement for a horse to be a Gelderlander, the original studbook for the Gelderlander horse defined in 1964 that a horse has to have at least 75% of the versatile Gelderlander blood in the pedigree. Bodessa and Adessa have 94% and Brenda has 81% of the original Gelderlander blood in the pedigree.
