Gelderlander horses are gaining ground

Thank you so much.

So Anton, could we put Zooloog on our 51% Gelders Hierarch mare?

 Just a thought.

Great to hear the ā€œreturnā€ of a breed I like so much. I just bought a 50% Gelder mare by Vulcaan. I’m trilled and looking for a stallion for her next year. Ideally one with a lot of Gelder blood.

My mare has only 25% Gelders blood, but I’m always on the hunt for a stallion with a high percentage of Gelders blood if I decide to breed her.

Bandit, I don’t know what type of mare you have, but if he suits her I believe Stardoozer said that Olivier has 62.5% gelders blood. You may not want to look further. I’ve bred to him several times using several different mares and can only say WOW to the foals that he makes. He’s an excellent stallion who puts down power, disposition, character and a lot of natural talent. NO, I don’t own even an inch of him, although I sure wish I did!

The foal will be 75% Gelderlander and have good sport genes from both sites. Probably it will become a real sport horse, maybe a horse with a strong character too, but this is not necessary.

I have Olivier’s DVD. I do really like him.

My mare’s bloodlines are very old.

Bandit,

Many years ago I bought an Immigrant son for a client. He was a wonderful, generous guy, trained to PSG.

Emigrant’s lines are just about as pure as one can get, in terms of Gelders blood. They are quite close to what is behind my own mareline.

Isn’t Immigrant 50% American Saddlebred?

There may be some confusion.

There is Immigrant, http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/immigrant2, the KWPN approved Saddlebred.

Emigrant, http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/emigrant23, the 100% Gelderlander.

And Emigrant, http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/immigrant3, the Canadian Sport Horse.

I’m not quite sure who is referring to whom!

The CSHA stallion Immigrant is a son of Emigrant.

There is also another son of Emigrant called Immigrant Jr.

ASB Allstars - You’re close! I think there were/are two Immigrants. The main one is Immigrant (birth name Callaways Mardi Gras), a 100% saddlebred stallion that was used as an experiment to see if the saddlebred blood would improve the harness horse. I think he was the only one that was used. He was exported to Holand, I believe.

I think there was also an Immigrant that at one time was licensed with the NAWPN. He was originally in California, and then I think the family moved to Florida? I can’t remember the bloodlines of the second Immigrant, but I think he might have had some saddlebred or hackney in him. Or maybe he was called Imposant?? Wait, here he is: http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/imposant4 . I think he was liver chestnut with 4 white? I remember the owner did do some driving with him. He had a couple of foals on the ground, but they really didn’t seem to be too much into breeding him. Anyone remember this horse?

Then there was also a dressage stallion named Immigrant in Canada. A Canadian Sporthorse or Warmblood. He was by Emigrant (Wodan x Graaf van Wittenstein) x TB.

Imajica - I am confused at which Emigrant you mean. There were several going back to the early 1900’s, but none of them have bloodlines that are related to your mare, that I can find information on. There have always been pure Gelderlander horses, especially back in the E years (1986,1963, etc.). They are still around; not as common, but you just have to know where to look for them.

Guess we were posting at the same time!

Here are some Emigrants:

Thanks Fantastic! The picture of Emigrant (1950) is one I haven’t seen before.

The Immigrant to which I referred was by Emigrant…the one imported into Canada in 1964.

Last year a Farrington mare was champion gelders. He has a lot of Gelders blood and produces gelders book foals from Gelders mares. Take a look at my Farrington x Flemmingh filly this year. I think the best we ever bred! Definately watch the video. She has effortless movement you can see in ever step she makes.

www.majesticgaits.com/emora.htm

Kathy

Kathy - your filly is stunning! Love her front. Super mover! I believe the filly is 40.5% gelders blood. (Farrington is 56% and Tamora is 25%). I love Farrington! I have seen his hind end on quite a few of his children. Can’t miss the Farrington booty!

What are your thoughts on Alexandro P, and have you thought of bringing his blood into your herd?
