General feedback on new site HERE

@Jarpur Yes, like Simkie said, those privacy settings won’t control who can see your posts within the actual threads on the forum, but you can control who sees your activity stream on your profile page, who can leave your visitor messages on your profile page, etc.

If you don’t want to make these features available to anyone, you could select “subscribers” as your privacy setting, and then not accept any subscriber requests. A subscriber request is sort of like a friend request.

They got the forum location added into the Today’s Topics list last night.

Thank you for the explanation!

Just want to say thank you to the Mods and the technical crew for all the work tweaking things for this new format. Things that were brought up as feedback, such as layout, functions, etc., have been addressed quickly. I appreciate the responsiveness and communication.

Thanks for all the hard work! My next suggestion is to bump the font size up on the main COTH articles. My eyes aren’t that old but I find it hard to read them at the current size/layout. I think the issue is not just size but in the number of characters across the page that make it tiring to read.

Also: I’m sure you guys are already doing this, but I’ve found it very helpful to use page analytics to compare how people use the site before and after the transition. You know if there are more page views and more posts that what you are doing has been successful, and if it’s gone down you know there’s something else that needs to change. Sometimes you also will see patterns of how people use the site changing that way, which can be good or bad.

Oh, and I am SO SO HAPPY to have the new Today’s Topics page. Thank you!

Is there a way to go back to numbering posts? It’s easier to keep track of important details by post number. Also how do I reverse the postings? I want the newest posts at the last page, not at the first page.

Tippy, I see post numbers in the top right of each post, far to the right but in the box.

To see last post that was posted, go into user settings and click on the Last Activity icon then save. I don’t see post numbers either. You won’t see where posters are from being on the Last Activity mode but sure saves a lot time.

I tried to follow your directions (in hopes of then understanding what they were accomplishing), but when I go into my user settings I do not have a Last Activity icon to hit (or save).

User setting then click on Account it will be there, there’s Posts or Last Activity icon. Sorry i get in a hurry and didn’t post right info.

Something else I’ve just noticed…it’s not a huge deal by any means but a bit inconvenient. The color scheme of the “user online” dot. When you’re in a thread and each user has a little grey or green dot by their post, indicating if they’re online…maybe it’s just my screen or my eyes, but it’s REALLY tough to tell if it’s grey or green. I have to squint and focus on it for a second.

@Moderator 1 It seems like many of the issues we were having have been dealt with. As I was navigating around today I thought “wow, the forum is working quite well today” and I just wanted to say that and thank you.

That was what i was referring to numbers on the pages. I see them when not logged in, but when logged in i don’t, i’m guessing being on Last Activity mode is reason why.

Everything on here works well except not being able to log in on phone or change password.

Hmm, the option to not have anything checked there doesn’t work it’s either or. I want to change my password and it does some screwy things. New password works for a few log ins then i can’t log in with new password. Have to go back to old one.
Guess it works to be blissfully unaware i should be in the same state would be less frustrating.

I don’t know if this has already been mentioned, but I miss the “similar threads” suggestions that used to be at the bottom of the page - sometimes this worked better than a search!

YES! Please bring this back!

I am loving the new site otherwise - the small details that mod&team have added have made it better than the old… now we just need the “See Similar Threads” widget back (especially for those tendon injury issues)…

Checking “posts” there is = to the default view, and should display posts as oldest -> newest with the post numbers in the corner. Analogous to clicking the “posts” tab at the top of the thread.

Is there still a search function?

Yep it’s off to the right of user name.

I find the wait between clicking and getting a response annoying. I also miss the color changes, and the ability to quickly scan for threads that have been answered, those little green dog ears aren’t that visible.

How does one sign out?
