Now trying to figure out how to add back in missing users to my ignore list (short of manually typing them in).
First of all, THANK YOU for all of the work that’s been put into this.
I work in tech (software designer) and I know what a large effort it must have been.
My two items of feedback would be
-
agree with others that the white is VERY bright – I miss the more subdued tones of the old site
-
the font is soooo small. I am an early-thirties (so, young eyes, no reading glasses yet!) and using a 13" macbook air, and I have to crank it up to 150% for comfortable reading. I can only imagine what a pain it must be for older readers.
Again, thank you.
If you have edit, you’re looking at your own post.
Try clicking the three dots on a post other than your own.
Or perhaps tell the mods which platform you’re using, so they can properly troubleshoot.
Even on my own posts on the mobile platform, I get all options. Maybe you’re just missing it.
Here is a screenshot. Android 6.0.1.
Haven’t had a chance to read much due to work and a bad cold, but I will say “THANK YOU!!” for opening up Current Events again, allowing many different topics!
Hmmm.
Tried to tag JB in another thread.
When I type @Moderator 1, I get a username list after three characters. Does tagging not work for users with less than three characters in their name?
Ok figured it out…format is different form old site so taking a bit to figure out. Had it figured out on desktop computer. …but the edit/quote function is different then on mobile. thank you.
Hahaha! Probably not, since you couldn’t even search by username of 2 characters before LOL!
Killin me, JB Can’t you change your username to … I dunno … JB rox ? JB is awesome? JB knows all?
(PS: pls tell me about your avatar! :D)
Outside of actual glitches, I’ve put in that the top request is to soften the color scheme from the stark white. I totally agree it’s hard on the eyes.
Also asked them to increase the number of threads displayed per page, as that should be a quick fix.
I’ve reported the actual glitches thus far that have been emerging, such as the Ignore lists not being imported with users and Ignore not actually working even after it’s been manually repopulated.
Beyond the glaringly white screen, which I apologize for not really appreciating the eye-unfriendliness of while beta testing, I want to give the tech guys time to address the big rocks first of things that just straight up aren’t working properly, then we can get into fine-tuning things further.
Please continue to provide feedback. I just didn’t want you to think we’re ignoring your suggestions if they’re not immediately being implemented or addressed.
Thanks!
I agree the stark white is very hard on the eyes. Also, nothing is getting marked as read.
I don’t like having to click on a thread to see who started it.
Ditto, was coming to post the same thing. If the Ignore feature doesn’t block certain posters’ threads from being displayed as was true for the old software, not having the OP’s name associated with the thread on the thread list removes an important tool for controlling my blood pressure
I do not have a problem with the white background (but will be fine if it is changed).
I do have a problem with constant movement of the COTH article and photo changing off to the right. Very distracting.
I know the photo changed before but it was small and right up in the corner so much easier to not be a bother.
@JB Just testing to see if the tag works, even if your username doesn’t pop up as an autoselect option.
ETA: Yup, it does!
I am another on who can not log in with IE 11
Thank you!
^^^^^^ this too. My eyes are just glazing over as I try to read. Page has no visual ‘pop’ like the old site. Needs some strategic eye candy to break the monotony.
How’d you get it to work?
How come it didn’t work for me here? What am I doing wrong?
Notification question - When I get a notification that someone quoted me, I then use the link to go to that thread and read the post. The notification box (red with the number in it) does not go away. I have to go back to notification and cancel that notification to make the red box go away.
Is there a way to make the notification go away with out having the two step process?
Looks like we accomplished that (Thank you :)) which I noticed because there is nothing to distinguish between threads you’ve read and threads that have been updated since you read them. Used to be the title changed from bold to regular once you read it.
