George Morris at Carolina Horse Park

I can’t see it either and I’m in the US. 🤷🏼”â™€ï¸

It was removed from the public area of the page. Might still be private. I recorded it on my phone in one of the open tabs that I had, since the video couldn’t be downloaded.

Lex will not be denied.

It was taken down, just 3 hours from the OP here.

Good looking out. I’m interested to see how this will play out. I don’t really see it as an oops. Also if this is seen as “okay” what will that mean for the Non-rated classes? Is that the hole they are trying to create? I don’t really see this as any different.

I edited some of this out for personal reasons. I am happy to discuss in private, but don’t feel like it needs to be out there right now. Feel free to pm me if you wish.

And don’t even both to get me started on masks. My volunteer job was jump crew and social distance enforcement on Saturday during schooling. I am an avid volunteer, and I have loved the park since the first moment I stepped foot in there, but I left there yesterday and today incredibly disappointed in humanity. People DO NOT CARE about others. Not everyone, some followed the rules. Others were entitled, privileged and cared only about themselves. Thanks to those who couldn’t show enough respect for volunteers to stay out of their bubble while not wearing a mask, I will be thinking twice about volunteering in the future.

I plan on writing an OP Ed and a letter to USEF.

I will add that the event that he showed up at took care of the situation immediately. And we had volunteers taking temperatures, but they wouldn’t have know who GM was, as those ones were military guys. One of them literally had never heard or seen a horse in real life.

Totally agree with you regarding the many self-centered people who cannot make the small effort to distance and wear masks. Surely they will be the first to whine, when shows start being discontinued due to lack of enough volunteers help to keep them running. Thank you for taking the time to volunteer and also to write the OP Ed and letter. People need to be called out. One thing I have learned from all the stay home time, I actually have started to enjoy it because it sure beats dealing with and putting up with a lot of entitled, spoiled people.

So much this. I’m a veterinarian so we’ve been open and essential. It is astonishing how much people either cant read (obviously this is a portion of our society and I do feel bad for them in these times trying to navigate things) or just blatantly do not give a care what we are asking of them. People leaning on our check in counter next to the sign that asks them not to. It’s crazy.

Heck, people can’t follow the arrows on the floor. No way are they going to read, and obey, a sign.

Can someone clarify for me what George was doing at the event please? Was he just spectating or instructing in some manner? I know he isn’t allowed to do either, just curious.

I’m certain He knows that he was not supposed to be there. Gotta say, KUDOS for the management for not being intimidated.

Ok, that doesn’t answer my question but thanks

Probably thinking eventers wouldn’t notice. Probably also had a student who thought it didn’t apply due to schooling show coupled with a rated show.

I thought he lived in FL? And isn’t he like 85? It seems so weird that he was willing to risk both the embarrassment of being thrown out and COVID to attend a low level event in the middle of a pandemic.

I don’t think he went there believing that he could pull a “You were thinking I was Denny Emerson, but it was really I, George Morris!” on a bunch of Eventers. Now that I think of it, he might have been there with Denny Emerson, as the two are friends. Anyway, he was likely visiting someone in Southern Pines and tagged along with them to go to the event. That’s my prevailing theory, unless something more untoward comes out about what went on there.

Unless he took a day trip to said unrecognized event, Denny is up in Vermont.

Are you sure of that? They have been seen together.

He was in Florida as of last week, but he has lots of friends in the area.

He was probably giving lessons/private clinics. There are several farms in the SP-Camden-Aiken area that I am 90% sure are still using him for a clinician.
