George Morris at Carolina Horse Park

That is one tough jockey!

One wonders how the firefighters were able to work with all their PPE covering their entire heads while subject to enormous heat and physical stress. Honestly, I have zero time for face mask whiners. It’s about the smallest ask you can make in such a situation. I truly don’t know what LESS you could do to help.

I’m so sickened by the people and their fake ā€œmedical conditionā€ cards and their threatening store employees and security guards when asked to do something so simple and easy and temporary. It’s truly the lowest of the low to chuck a tanny about face masks - like a nation of toddlers. I’m astounded.

Silly me thought there were more posts about the GM situation…

Honestly, jockeys are almost another species.

If you’ve ever watched one of the compilation videos of crazy racetrack mishaps, it’s a miracle that any jockeys stick with it. But most of them probably rode the next day, if not in the next race.

Every winter I run long distances outside in very cold weather. If I can run 20 miles with a mask on, I am certain that people can survive a shuffle through walmart. Bottom line, anyone not wearing a mask is a selfish ignorant asshat. Which they have every right to be. But it’s really that simple.

I’m kind of surprised that the USEF hasn’t put a statement out about it.

I would think they have a lot on their plates right now, what with one thing and another.

I don’t think they usually bother to put out a statement every time a suspended/banned person gets escorted off the grounds of a competition. Even a famous person.

If it occurs multiple times, that might warrant a statement. I believe that has happened in the past.

Well I would think they could release a statement about events and how they fall under USEF despite the lower levels only requiring a USEA membership. You know to clear up any confusion. I really have a hard time believing he didn’t know.

Usef is the governing body for its subsidiaries ie usea ushja and usdf. There is no confusion about this. These bodies must adhere to usef rules. Morris certainly isnt confused about this, and it is clearly stated everywhere.

Oh I agree with you. Just a suggestion so ā€œI didn’t knowā€Ā can’t be claimed by students or the banned member.

Nope, it’s all covid all the time.

I agree with Moo on this one. With the ever changing world of acronyms that the governing bodies are called I think a formal statement reminding people would not be a wrong thing.
To clarify, I am saying this a good idea for the general person. I totally agree that GM and whomever he was there with knows these rules.

Sigh. Right, because they need a never ending chance to call others names. What good is any thread with out calling others names.

I confess I would like to know the details - as in, did show management approach him and ask him to leave? Was he escorted off the grounds? Was there a confrontation?

I guess that is pretty much prurient interest, but still…

Although not entirely. If you have children on a show grounds, you have a legitimate interest in knowing what the reaction is to the presence of someone banned for inappropriate behaviour with minors. Was it a robust reaction (management approached and insisted he leave immediately, offender was escorted off property by security in order to ensure he actually left and left promptly) or a weak one (hey, George, I have to ask you to leave, sorry and thanks with no escort or follow up). I think the questions you ask are important.

Good points, FitzE. I completely agree.

I do not have a minor children (or major children) showing, so I do not have a direct personal concern; but I do have a general concern about the welfare of other people’s children, and I’d like to think keeping sexual predators of the grounds of a competition was a priority.

Not that I disagree with this, but I have never seen an event with security personnel. At the big events like Kentucky 3 day they have security but not small events. They tend to be 100% volunteer run with people wearing many proverbial hats. The closest thing you will see to security is the volunteers who are handling parking.

Fair point! I guess by management then? It’s been ages since I’ve been to an event. :frowning:

I can’t imagine he would make a scene about being asked to leave.

I would hope not. It is pathetic enough that he went in the first place.
