Go, Schockemöhle!

Again, he is STILL ABUSING HORSES.

Just did that and if it were current news, it would have made at least the first two Google pages. Nothing found other than Totilas, and that, while wrong and sad, is very old news. However, I’m assuming you must be at his barn often enough to know. Maybe you could provide us with some current video since you are assuring us he is currently doing this and abusing horses?
And again, what does that have to do with an act of generosity and kindness? Did he mention somewhere that he is hoping this gesture will erase his sins? According to you, nothing the man will ever do will be right or acceptable, and I find that extremely judgmental and very sad.

Nope he can never erase his sins.

As for video, it exists. Epona TV has it.

Hey if you want to protect a known abuser, whatever. Maybe you have motive like bought a horse from him or something. Just know that I, along with many many people see him differently.

I did a search on EponaTV, didn’t find anything. Care to share your source for CURRENT video of Schockemohle abusing a horse?
I applaud his humanitarian efforts, because it’s nice to see something positive and I appreciate it, whenever and where ever it shows up.

Oh so horse abuse has an expiration date?

Such horsemen!!

There is video. There are photos. But they are not from yesterday or 10 minutes ago. So go on defending the abuser. Enjoy!!

Nobody is defending abuse here.
My sincere apologies. I keep handing you a shovel, when in reality you should stop digging the hole you’re in. I promise I won’t do it again.

Let’s keep our eye on the ball, shall we ?
Schockemohle and his team are assisting Ukrainian refugees.
At the same time, he has a certain reputation in the horse industry.
Both are facts.
People (us) can voice their thoughts on both, without becoming snarky and demeaning to the other side. Right ? .
Please, let’s not turn this thread in to train wreck.

It’s nice to have a good news post once in awhile isn’t it.

It’s sad to hear he is abusive.

However it is great he is offering help. Bad people can do good things I guess.

Honestly, I cried when I read the article.

FWIW, a friend of mine rode sales jumpers for Schockemohle in the mid 1990’s. He knew he’d never be able to afford competing at Grand Prix. So instead he rode the big time jumpers before they became farmous. He loved it (even though he was in Germany and the Germans did bad things in WWII).

You’re welcome.

That was the idea, anyway. :woman_shrugging:

No, but we also cannot forever shun or punish someone for something they have done.
People all make good and bad choices. If we never allow a person to move on from that then are we any better?

Would you like to link that video or photos, since none of us can find it?

Rollkur, as you know, is now banned. For a reason.

It was first done by a Schockemohle and it’s fired up controversy after controversy. So I took a few minutes to give you reports and articles from around the world. There are tons more. So no, his giving aid and then talking about it doesn’t impress me at all.

Rollkur comes from a Schockemohle

This second statement is patently untrue, and one of your linked articles even states " Janssen is regarded as the inventor of the rollkur."

If you knew anything at all about it, you’d know Rollkur came from and was widely practiced by the Dutch, not the Germans or Schockemohle. Sjef Janssen is DUTCH.

If you read the other articles you would see how my statement is qualified.

I read all the articles. Go troll somewhere else. He took EIGHTY PEOPLE from the border and is paying their hotel bill.

I choose the horses.

Have a good night.

Having read your sentiments, it seems as if you’d be happier if Schockemohle had done nothing to help Ukrainian refugees, rather than disabuse you of the notion that he is an evil proponent of rolkur and thus nothing he does can ever be good.

There are many wealthy horse people that are also human rights abusers. Save your antipathy. Schockemole should be way down on your list of bad humans if you care about horrible horse abusers that actually are abusers of people as well.

You’re wrong.

I seek a true representation - the good, the bad and the ugly.

He was being presented as an exceptional human and he’s just not.

As for what you think I should do I can only wonder why you would think this is relevant.

So you believe an article about a horse person helping refugees out of Ukraine should have mentioned everything he has ever done that could be controversial in horse training, or the people he hired to train? I don’t believe that is true. He is helping refugees and some of his former employees have good memories from when he was kind to them.

The controversy surrounding Totilas is not news to most of us.

None of his training practices were mentioned, he was not being represented as an “exceptional human being” in horse training, nowhere was that mentioned. The purpose of the article was nothing about training horses, only the human angle from people he has helped in the past, and people he is trying to help now.

I didn’t say that you should do anything. Think a bit more maybe.
