some brands are really hard to see…[/QUOTE]
Yep, you can’t see my horse’s brand except for certain times of the year or in the exact right light.
I think it is highly plausible there are two horses only involved here, not a third, and that Kayne = Con Air. It is not like the GG imposter that turned out to be “Con Air” was totally talentless backyard quality. And names are changed ALL THE TIME, especially when a horse isn’t first registered with USEF (so an import situation) and tehn they are just registered with the new name. Even then, you will see horses that ARE regsitered with teh USEF being sold and then shown under different names without a name change done through USEF.
There is so much wrong with USEF and the tracking/accountability, and perhaps this situation will shed more light on that situation and encourage USEF to put better measures in place for teh future. No, a chip would not have helped this horse be found sooner by a tracking type situation, but if USEF required all horses to be chipped and scanned prior to entering a class or at least prior to registering, it would have revealed this was not the correct horse. Also would prevent a 12 year old horse that had been doing the AAs being rehomed, renamed, and shown as a 4 year old in a baby green class (which certainly has happened many times in the past).
