Good Guinness Missing
AFAIK from the threads so far… Con Air/Kanye is owned by MW, who was taking him as a trade, so MW is the owner that he is being returned to. There is no other party out there. Could be wrong, but thats what I got out of all of this.
One really needs a road map to follow along — LOL

In the junior ranks I remember Sophie B. riding Good Guinness (LAEC and SHOWPARK). I thought she did a great job keeping him high in the ribbons – I also recall that Helen McNaught (sp?) rode him some years back. Maybe 2005 ??

When all is said and done, I’ m feeling really bad for ConAir, nobody seems to want to lay claim to him – :-(
I had the pleasure of meeting Sophie yesterday evening and if I recall correctly she said she won a $25,000 class on him so that I would say is a big accomplishment… as is winning the USET finals

Eyes rolling in confusion. . . when someone can put together the Reader’s Digest version, please post so I can read. Thanks!

You’re right about Sophie riding him. I don’t know about those shows because my barn only goes to one LAEC show a year (Jumping Festival in Nov?). They used to do more years ago when I was there, but now go to Brookside instead. When you have Karl and his sister in your barn and their fantastic horses, it’s pretty much lights out for the rest of the juniors competing against them. I guess a lot of juniors will be happy Karl is aging out this year.

On Sept 8th 2008, Patrick Seaton, using Ali as his agent and go-between, sent his grand prix mount Good Guinness to Frank Madden to sell. Frank had seen all the footage, and agreed to take the horse ‘on the cuff’ to sell. Patrick decided to send him after winning three CA prixs in '08, and he beleived he could sell Good Guinness on the East Coast for a good price as a high jr/ao horse. Ali assured him and encouraged him…So in good faith he loaded his horse on Earl Jaque’s van and he headed to NY.
Has anyone heard from “Ali” the agent ?

I wouldn’t toss Imposter out of my barn (if I had one)! Sounds like a pretty nice horse- it’s not like MW would be leasing out 2’6 schoolhorses. Does anyone else laugh at the thought of what poor Imposter might have thought when they first tried to put him to a GP level course after years of doing jumper jumpers? “WTF, you want me to jump THAT!”

Jumping Fesitval is in September and the LA National is in November – but I was off,
Sophie rode him at showpark and del mar ------ my memory is fading on me. LOL

No–Kanye is GG! GG was delivered to MW as ConAir. GG does not belong to MW. MW, thinking that ConAir was the horse he was supposed to get (un-huh) changed his name to Kanye. But Kanye is really GG. The Imposter–meaning the imposter of GG, ConAir, might belong to MW. But the real ConAir is at another stable

Whew! I think that’s right!

No that is not right.

GG went as GG to the Wards, they were stabled there before GG#2 was loaded on a 2 horse trailer to the MAdden’s, both GG and ConAir/Kanye were at the Wards, not on the same trailer

oh cripes. I give up!

It’s hard to keep track of the various names and the dates are a big blur, but the only one they go to is the one with the World Cup qualifier, which ever one that is.

OK does anyone here know if the branded and chipped holsteiner was really on the trailer BEFORE it got to Ward’s barn?
Anyone know the shipper? Some people are defending him over on HSS as if they know him.

I posted this earlier. Apparently no one thinks it’s plausible?

Caitlin

Uh no, see I’m thinking that horse was already in NY and not on the trailer.
The manifest would tell, if the shipper would publish it.

This thread has been exciting to read. I hope it becomes a wake-up call for everyone. Responsible OWNERS need to be more careful with their property or investments than GG’s have shown. Don’t wait for 6 months to pass and then panic. They are lucky their horse was found alive and well. This entire chain of events could have been prevented with simple follow up. I call that common sense.

That’s new information to me AS FACT. I do see it as supposition.

So a) when did the halter switch occur? If they took GG’s halter off before stalling him, wouldn’t it be hanging on HIS stall door?

b) Was the 2 horse trailer driver not the same person who hauled the horse 3 thousand miles or so? I can see a new driver getting the wrong horse, but not the wrong halter if it was hanging on a stall door. If the Impostor’s halter was on his door, and he was already stalled with a name plate or other stall ID on the outside, a mix up seems highly unlikely.

So is it established as fact that the switch ACTUALLY and ACCIDENTALLY occurred AT BW’s stable. If so, me thinks something is odd, to say the least.

Has anyone said with certainty when the switch occurred?

As far as I can make out a CliffsNotes of this, it seems that Mr. Seaton sent GG across country to FM’s barn to be sold. At some point, GG was joined on the trailer by ConAir/Kanye, who also happened to be a plain, brown gelding with a star, who was being sent to Maclain in trade.

Somehow/somewhere halters got mixed up between the two, and GG was left at the Wards, under the impression that he was ConAir/Kanye. From their barn, he was leased to the Jr who took him to Gulfport. The real ConAir/Kanye, who was assumed to be GG, was sent on to FMs and taken to Florida and shown in the Childrens.

Is that right?

Yes.

People no matter the speculation nothing more is going to come out of this. No one really knows what happend except the people directly involved that were there when the switch or mix-up occured. I do not think anyone is going to tell how it happened other than the horses where on the same trailer and the wrong one was unloaded and the other sent on to FM.

So just let it drop already. Be happy for GG that he is safe and well and his rightful owners have him back.

Just accept what you are being told and move on. I really do not think anything more will come out about this.

Except that I haven’t seen any confirmation that the two horses were ever on the same trailer. I have seen speculation that GG and the other horse might have been together at an overnight point.

Has there been any backtracking on where Kanye/Con Air was before he wound up at FM’s?

I have been trying to register on HSS and it won’t let me…
It keeps telling me user name and email address are used… yes, by me when I register. Then, when I choose Log in… I get a blank page and nothing else…

Grr!!!
