Goodbye, sweet Dublin (update p. 25, Dublin has crossed the bridge; update for details on funeral on page 32.)

Oh my…words just fail to do justice. My prayers are with Dee Dee’s family and loved ones tonight. She will be missed by many and remembered fondly by all.

Ahhhhh Dublin…

what’s a life?

yours is celebrated here in our tears, our love, our emotion washing over and through the blank white empty reply boxes filled with love and heartfelt shared pain.

I wish you Godspeed and a safe journey over Rainbow Bridge, where you will be reunited with our loved ones, human and animal, and let them know our love is timeless.

I guess it is time to Let Go.

bowing my head, hands to heart, Godspeed…

Any more updates from Mr. Dublin?

We’re all praying for you and curb-chain-jingling for you, Dublin!!!

Like many others I did not know Dublin, but my heart goes out to her family and loved ones. May there be peace in your hearts knowing she is finally home.

My heartfelt condolences.

I am so sorry to read this. I am relieved that she is once more able to be a free spirit, one with the Heavens.
My deepest condolences to you David and your family. DD was a great person and I’m pleased to have “met” her through COTH.
Know this David, that she still loves you and willbe with you forever.

I did not know Dublin as well as many did, but saw from her posts a truly wonderful person. My much-missed Lord Stirling will be there to carry her around some jumps while she looks down on us.

David, we pray. We hold you and all those close to your wife in the light. I admire your courage and composure and grace. We will not stop being there for you and family when DD decides she can leave. Ever, we will be here. June

Dee Dee -

I’ve always enjoyed your posts although I’ve never personally talked to you. Your presence will be missed. Please give my beloved Sweets hugs and kisses when you see her.

Dave -

Thank you for sharing such an amazing woman with us. hugs

How’s he gonna read that magazine rolled up like that? What the … - a fly.

Oh MAD, “a straight line from Heaven to Earth.” That about did me in.

And then picturing Dee Dee talking to Man O’War, I can see it now, and then riding the Sainted Tiger … all of it so wonderful, except that what would be most wonderful of all would be if she did not have to go, if somehow God could reach down and touch her and magically make her well. There must be a pretty amazing thing he needs her for, because I can think of no other reason to take her away from Dave and her family and Lucy and all of her many friends.

When we first spoke about this in November, when she told me that her cancer was back, we cried and cried and cried. And she said that she wished she could be as strong as Cactuskate was, because those two became very close as they discussed their respective illnesses.

Dee Dee, you are a pillar of strength. You are an example for all of us. Each and every one of us who know you, who have met you, who have been E-buddies with you, every one of us loves you girl! Every one of us feels that our lives are better for knowing you. Even when we were collectively branded a bunch of old farts and old fogeys who can bang on for hours about auto releases and how courses were MUCH harder in our days (and they WERE!!!).

I can only imagine the chat that you and Victor are going to have when you two meet up. I can just see it now. And the thought brings a big smile through the tears, because boy oh boy, those of you who knew Victor, OMG can you see it now?

Fly

Fly, fly little wing
Fly beyond imagining
The softest cloud, the whitest dove
Upon the wind of heaven’s love
Past the planets and the stars
Leave this lonely world of ours
Escape the sorrow and the pain
And fly again

Fly, fly precious one
Your endless journey has begun
Take your gentle happiness
Far too beautiful for this
Cross over to the other shore
There is peace forevermore
But hold this mem’ry bittersweet
Until we meet

Fly, fly do not fear
Don’t waste a breath, don’t shed a tear
Your heart is pure, your soul is free
Be on your way, don’t wait for me
Above the universe you’ll climb
On beyond the hands of time
The moon will rise, the sun will set
But I won’t forget

Fly, fly little wing
Fly where only angels sing
Fly away, the time is right
Go now, find the light

It is so hard to say goodbye, but knowing that she is now free of pain makes it just a wee bit easier to say those words.

Goodbye Dublin.

Friday at about 2:30 pm Central time, I was on my way to pick up my daughter from school and the song “Superman”, by Five for Fighting came on. At that time I didn’t know DD had passed, but I just started to bawl. Even now thinking of her…<<OMG>>…it’s just so sad.

David & Dublin,

I will keep you close in my prayers. My greatest sympathies to friends and family. Cancer is such a terrible disease to fight. My future mother-in-law is now fighting the battle. So far she’s doing well, but I know that quite possibly I will be in your shoes.
David, thanks for letting us know Dublin more.
Dublin, when you cross that rainbow bridge say hello to my gelding, P.C. and my beloved lab, Ivy (both of them left this world way too young).

My sympathies,

MKB…

In the next few days, unless the medicine is truly miraculous, I will be making the decision to send my beloved Spike (the border collie) to the Rainbow Bridge. Somehow I feel better knowing that both Cactuskate and Dublin will be there to throw a stick for him to catch.

How he loved to play catch. It will take both of them to keep him happy. He was the epitome of the tenacious border collie .

May you have a wonderful and peaceful trip, Dublin, to a brave, new, painfree world.

Nina

Awww Dublin

God bless…
