I’ve admired this stallion “on paper” for many years and now have a mare that would suit him just perfectly.
I’d love to hear about any GT babies out there (pics are great) along with what sort of mare he goes well with.
And, most importantly, how good is his frozen?

I like her very much. She is smart, athletic, dual talented and attractive. She had her first foal this year, a very good colt by Vallado. I purchased her late in life, and she was unstarted, but I did send her off for some basic training, which went OK. She is a strong willed mare, and had been used to doing her own thing for a long time, so she was a bit spoilied in that regard.
I think she is doing growing at 16.3. 
But, her mother was 17.1 I am told. She was bred here with frozen, and it appears there are many frozen babies out there from him, so I’d venture to guess its good.
He is actually on my list of consideration for one of my other girls.
I think you see a consistency in type, abilty and performance. Many of them are in the Dressage and Show Jumping arenas.
(There are 2 nice ones I found on the Hunter/Jumper exchange website the other day!)
I think he’s a very good stallion, good luck in your choice.

I have a weanling filly by him out of a Hanoverian mare. She has the sweetest temperament I’ve ever seen in a foal.

I bred one of my mares to him 4 years ago and I was very happy with the results.
I used him on a lovely Hanoverian mare by Rio Grande that I use to own and the result was a beautiful modern type leggy filly. Sophie is now 3 years old and she has fantastic uphill movement and is a really nice jumper/dressage type mare.
Sophie has just started under saddle and from what her owners are telling me she has been excellent to work with and they are excited to get her in the showring next season. I think they want to head to the jumper ring with her.

The Goodtimes frozen semen was excellent quality…and my mare at the time took on 1 dose first try. Wish they all could be that way!

Give Kathy Hickerson at Majestic Gaits a call – she has several Goodtimes offspring herself, and has sold lots of them. She can tell you everything you want to know. From my experience, Goodtimes throws horses with lots of jump and movement, real all-rounders. They are smart horses, with fun personalities.

Actually usually the LAST person I ask about a stallion is the owner or agent. Not that Kathy isn’t totally cool and honest, but there is a definite tendency for 99% of stallion owners to “gild the lilly.”
I’d rather get my info from others first…

What a cutie! How tall did she end up? I understand GT is only about 16.1hh.

Well I have no idea where the height came from but Sophie is now 16.3h.h at 3 years old. Her dam is 16.1h.h and Goodtimes is 16.1h.h…I am thinking the height came from the Dam’s sire side Rio Grande.:yes:
I was told by a few other breeders that Goodtimes does not throw a lot of height to his offspring.
We have a Goodtimes colt that was licensed for breeding last year. Really lovely, modern type, super mover with lots of elasticity, super canter, very good through the chute with lots of power and technique behind. Incredible temperament…super laid back but also responsive and respectful.
Our mare is more an old type Holsteiner, very consistent in producing movement and jump. Goodtimes refined her a bit and added suppleness. He did not add size or height. He did add what he’s marketed as adding namely good movement, lots of carrying power from behind, good jump, and a beautiful type.
The frozen was great, the mare caught with one dose (and successfully transfered the embryo to a recipient mare).

I have a 2008 goodtimes filly, she has the most super friendly temperament. I adore her. Plenty of carrying power and she is certainly very pretty! (attached two head shots) Her dam is a big, long lined flemmingh mare, it seems she may have her dam’s height but she is more compact than mom!:yes:

You can certainly spot a GT offspring a mile off alot of the time can’t you!:lol: She was for sale but I have decided she is a keeper, her personality is just fantastic and I can’t wait till she is four!
I’ve seen Kathy Hickerson’s mare by Goodtimes – Miloma – in person and I’ve seen two of her foals in person, including Uloma (#1 Elite mare in the country last year with the Dutch). She’s honestly one of the best mares I’ve ever seen and one of the top five I covet in this country. Fantastic, powerful movement. Super, super mare.
Goodtimes could clearly jump the moon. If I bred Dutch, I’d seriously consider him. I’d be very pleased to see him in the damline. I think he was known as a phenomenal broodmare producer. Miloma’s certainly living proof. I’ll never forget that mare. Her movement blew me away and she was 8 or 9 months pregnant at the time.

Sounds like he might be just what I’m looking for. I want a shorter back, big engine, good gaits. Both the mares I’m thinking of for him have super personalities already so sounds like that’s a given.

This is a thread CLOSE to my heart as Wildcard SCF (now Elite!) whose breeding is Goodtimes X Silvio 1 Elite Preferent, is my “Heart Horse”, and my all time favorite! I have had FOUR of my own Goodtimes’, two full siblings to Wildcard (all three ET’s Wartimes/Welborne and Windfall"), and Zoe (Goodtimes X Wanroij Preferent). My sister has had three of her own that I have had personal experience with (Goodtimes X Michellino). ALL SEVEN, out of three very different mares, have been beautiful, typey, smart and EXCELLENT movers…Goodtimes truly throws “whole package horses”, and in my experience, in addition to type and beauty , passes on a powerful quick hind leg regularly…I can usually spot a Goodtimes the minute they trot!<G>

Wildcard freejumps for FUN to break up the monotony of her dressage training! She absolutely LOVES it and in my opinion, could have a career as a top show hunter or jumper as well (despite her High Point Championship and wins at DAD!<G>! Anybody can ride her, but she has the sensitivity and “forward” to interest professionals as well…“Jewel’s” consistency under saddle has been remarkable…She has rarely gone to a show where she hasn’t won at least one class. Of interest as well is that she acheived a perfect “10” for her Free Walk this summer, and all of her gaits have been scored over 8’s by judges…
Both of Wildcard’s full siblings have been sold to Grand Prix riders/trainers, one as a jumper, and the other as a dressage horse. All are dual talented and very special. Extensive photos of all of the Goodtimes can be found on my website and on Lauren’s at goldhopefarm.com . The ONLY thing that you can not count on Goodtimes to add, in my experience, is height. According to the breeding indexes in Holland, he throws slightly smaller than the average in Holland. Wildcard’s dam is 16.3 hands and Wildcard and her sister are just over 16.1 h. Their full brother Welborne (was Wartimes), is very tall…I am told about 17 Hands. If you have a tall (and perhaps long lined )mare, you really can’t go wrong with Goodtimes!
For Kyzteke and others who have asked, the Goodtimes semen is FANTASTIC, and most of the seven offspring that we have had have been on one frozen insemination (and actually Wildcard's two full siblings were acheived both with one insemination and then ET)! We have never had anything but GREAT semen from VDL Stallions, purchased from and distributed by Kathy Hickerson.
I am in agreement with hansiska..I think that Goodtimes might be best known by his exceptional daughters! We have actually produced our first Second Generation Goodtimes...Wildcard's first (and only to this date) foal Carte Blanche SCF (Lupicor X Goodtimes Elite X Silvio 1 Elite Preferent) was honored with the title of the #! KWPN Jumper Foal in the USA (tie). He is now being "groomed" for Pre Approval with the KWPN next Fall...."CB" is still as gorgeous and sweet as ever, and what a MOVER! We have the highest hopes for him and he is my second "Heart Horse"....only just behind his mother Wildcard!<G> Carte Blanche is a Second Generation homebred for us, and proof that Wildcard is an excellent producer as well as show horse.....Photos of Carte Blanche can be seen using this link:

THis has been the complete opposite of my experience. Perhaps it’s because I don’t usualy deal with “single stallion” owners, or ones that have not been in the business very long. But my experience with SO’s like Mo Swanson, Suzanne Quarles, Max Mickle and Edgar Schutte has been that they are my best sources of information regarding heretability, fertility and assessment. The feedback I’ve gotten from the internet has been terribly unreliable, with a lot of the offspring owners suffering from “Poopsie Syndrome”.
THaqt said - though I don’t breed Dutch - Goodtimes is very interesting and I wish you luck in whatever you chose to do!

My mare has gotten in foal every time with one heat to him, and the one time I decided to try something different, we went through several heats with no pregnancy…almost gave up for the year, tried one dose of Goodtimes, and job done
The oldest of the full siblings Good as Gold is a true stallion prospect, and is one of the best movers you will ever see. He is the complete package with almost perfect conformation, beauty, movement and the WOW factor. He earned an 8.7 for movement at his inspection as a premium foal and was asked back by the judges as a stallion prospect. He ribboned both years he showed at DAD, and is the best horse that I have ever bred.
His full sister Good to be Queen was also an amazing, powerful mover,and absolutely stunning looking. Goodtimes has consistently modernized my mare (A Michellino daugher from Denmark) in all of the foals, and each year I consider doing something different, and then go back to Goodtimes, as I would have a hard time improving on these foals :). They are all incredibly smart as well…sometimes I think too much so…
