The trainer at our farm owns and trains a Goodtimes gelding, Supertimes, who looks just like his sire, including the fat snip on his nose and he is a fabulous, powerful mover with alot of carrying power as well. Sweet in the stable but does have an interesting opinionated streak sometimes under saddle, especially if he has had a few days off! Nothing dangerous, its just like he wants his rider to know that he doesn’t really HAVE to do stuff, so you should appreciate all the more when he is good!
Supertimes was this year’s BLM finals champion at 3rd level with a score of around 72%. In his warmup class the day before he got something crazy like a 79%. The plan is to show at PSG next year.

Goodtimes could clearly jump the moon. I think he was known as a phenomenal broodmare producer. Miloma’s certainly living proof. I[/QUOTE]
WAS? He’s not dead is he? I’ll have to go back & look – when was he foaled?
Oops! Sorry about the verb. Whether or not he’s still alive, I should have used the present tense. He IS known as a broodmare sire.
BTW, my quick internet search found he was born in 1988. But why trust this Hano breeder for your info? I found this page chock full of info, video, pedigree, scores, etc.:

Yes he is still alive, I saw him a few weeks ago, He is currently standing at the sport horse centre in the UK, He has a fabulous stable manner and comes alive under saddle still! Boy does he bounce  Fabulous to watch and a complete pleasure to be around. Worth noting he is completely clean limbed and sound at 20 years old, lovely lovely stallion

Yes, that IS worth noting! All the ability in the world isn’t worth much if they won’t stay sound.
I am hearing SO many good things about him – I’m sold!
Seems the only drawback to him as a sire is the fact he doesn’t throw alot of height. But in the case of my mares, I think we’ll be fine.
Thanks so much to all who replied both on this thread and via PMs – I really appreciate it!
Keep 'em coming.
Hey Schiffon,
Any photos or video clips of Supertimes? He sounds great!
Warmly,
Karin
I am horrible at gilding the lilly! LOL. Stallion owners that do that are not doing their stallions any justice. I want the mare owners to get what they want to fit their mares. It is better for the breeders to want to come back and refer their friends! I don’t own Goodtimes, but VDL does and yes I sell the frozen for them. There is plenty of frozen here to choose from and when I don’t have something that fits what people are looking for, I’ll be glad to say so too.
I do think that people should research it as much as possible though. I do for my own breeding too. The best you can tell about a stallion is what he stamps in his offspring.
Goodtimes is one of my favorites. We have had success with him and many of our breeders too like Karin and Lauren have had super success with Goodtimes too.
I have Elite mares by Goodtimes and have bred to him and have imported foals by him and had them in training here. I’ll be glad to tell you anything you want about him that I know. Our KWPN head inspector Jacques Verkerk from Holland was talking at the judges training this year what a good dam sire Goodtimes is. He said he likes to see it in the 2nd or 3rd generation in a breeding. I loved hearing that as I now have 3 Goodtimes mares for breeding. My Keur Elite mare Miloma (Goodtimes - Dreamstreet) who is always my favorite to ride too. She had a super foal by Rascalino last year that was first premium and this year she is in foal to Schroeder (Sandro Hit - Escudo I). She has produced super. I have a new Keur Elite Goodtimes mare Zalanta (Goodtimes - Houston) in NL who has had 2 really nice foals from Johnson (Jazz - Flemmingh). One of which is a super filly that we will likely keep. I also have a yearling Goodtimes filly in NL out of our Keur mare Taloma (Flemmingh - Ahorn) that we are keeping too. Fantastic mover.
For sure Goodtimes throws a powerful hind end, lots of knee action, shorter stronger back and most of mine have been in the 16-2 to 17 hand range but I would not breed him for height. He puts on plenty of bone and good feet. Very smart offspring that love to play and work. Mine know how to get out of the paddock if it is not double chained! We had one take all the tops off the electric fence and pile them in the middle of the pasture. I understand Goodtimes sire Nimmerdor used to do this with jump cups too. They often have a lot of white socks and blazes. And yes he does stamp. I’ve seen them do well in both dressage and jumping. Strangely enough my Goodtimes mares are both bred with dressage lines and bred for dressage. But, I’ve seen just as many that are super jumpers too. Nice all around with lots of power.

Dutch Times is incredibly nice. Do you think he’ll take after Goodtimes as far as height? He looks quite leggy.
Dutch Times by Goodtimes
Hi Big Bay Boy! Thank you! This is quite possibly the most beautiful foal we have ever had…I do think that he will exceed his sire’s height, as his dam is just about 17 hands. His older full brother Good as Gold should be about 16.3 or a bit more (he is 2 now), and is quite leggy as well. The only negative consideration that I have found as far as breeding to Goodtimes is his taking away size, but with my mares height,I do not worry. I very well may rebreed again in 2009 for the 6th time…the more research I do, the more I keep thinking why change what I am doing when I have been so pleased with all of the Goodtimes X Alino Queen foals…still fingers crossed for my palomino WB filly by him which may be in utero right now and hopefully is just as nice as my others of the same cross.

Lauren – do you feel GT actually “takes away” height or just can’t be counted on to produce it?
I ask this because one of the mares I am thinking about for him is an Arab mare – only about 15-15.1hh. But this mare has consistantly PRODUCED size in every one of her foals by a wide variety of stallions. Her colt by a 15.3hh stallion was almost 16hh and her colt by a 16.1hh stallion is now almost 16.2hh.
The other mares I think of for him are in the 16.1-16.2 range, but again – I don’t want HUGE – 16hh is fine for the Arab crosses and I think 16.1-16.2 is plenty big enough for the WBs.
Besides (and correct me if I’m wrong), he seems to consistantly throw a full body, which is going to take up alot of leg no matter what the actual height of the horse.

HI Kyzteke, in the case of my foals and my sisters, all by Goodtimes, all have been (or may be in the case of the younger ones ) a touch shorter than their dams, but all of the 7 I am mentioning are out of three tall mares, all mares are between 16.2 and 17 hands. I think my sister or Kathy Hickerson can give you a better feel from a different array of mares, but in our case all were a bit less tall than their dams (but certainly big enough Karin , Kathy or Siegi, does the Dutch Index system actually say that he takes away size on the average mare or just does he not add it?? I will defer to the pro’s at this, since my experience is all with the same 3 mares…one had three Goodtimes foals (My sisters Preferent Mare Marie Louise), a different mare of hers Jolie’ had one Goodtimes filly and my mare Alino Queen is on her fourth live one (we lost one) for this spring. Hope this helps!
Goodtimes 2 year old posting photos for Lauren
Here are a couple of photos of the Goodtimes x Alino Queen (Michellino) Good as Gold that illustrates the type of conformation and movement that Goodtimes has known to throw. He has always (in our case) given a good, strong, shorter topline, modern type, and very good conformation…this photo was taken last summer as a just turning 2 year old. All of the Goodtimes babies have seemed to mature quickly and they never seem to go through the ugly duckling stage! And, can they MOVE!!Great hindleg and suspension…and they really pick themselves up in front and GO!
All my Goodtimes I’ve had have been 16-2 or larger. I do have 2 mares that are 17 hands but probably mostly because of bigger marelines. Because Goodtimes is just around 16-0 hands that if your looking to add height bigger than 16-0 hands, I wouldn’t count on it. Most people that breed to him are not looking to add height or size. The index shows that he produces -1.51 cm from the average height of the Dutch warmblood which is 164 which means the average size of the (mostly 3 year olds) they measured from him in Holland was 162.9 which is around 16 hands. You can guess that the 3 year olds would grow and there were a few older horses measured in there, but also he is bred mostly to bigger mares than him as the average is bigger and most people who know him are likely not to breed to a smaller mare than him. So, my guess is that he will at least produce the height of a smaller than 16 hand mare or maybe add to it. But, I wouldnot expect him to produce big even though it is possible.
Clear as mud? Hope that helps.

I leased my sister’s mare Zalanta for a 2008 foal from Rousseau… oups Kathy, you meant Valanta right?
She is by Flemmingh out of a Goodtimes mare (imported by Kathy from Holland) and gosh, talking about stamping a mare…to the second generation. She has much more of Goodtime than Flemmingh, and no, she is not tall. She was 15.3 at three when presented for her studbook (not a good idea)and now 15.3 3/4 hh at four almost reaching her 16 h. She has GT color too and his lovely head. She is the most elastic mare I ever saw. She puts her front legs streched in front of her sometimes for a few minutes before she decides to get up. And she doesn’t need any assistance to scratch herself … from her neck to her tail.
My sister bought her as a dressage mare (thanks Kathy) but the first thing she did upon her arrival was to jump the fence to be with other horses at the farm she was kept. She did the same here, quarantine was pretty short!
I don’t know if she likes to jump or not because… it just does not make any difference for her. Why get into the trouble to go around when it is much faster to jump over it, that’s it. And she has this fanstastic trot but maybe this is from Flemmingh,(well he is the sire after all).
And to top all that, she is THE most friendly girl . We just love her and she gave us a First Premium colt, what can we ask more… well, I don’t know. I just received a $250 check in the mail yesterday from the KWPN-NA, no explication with. Maybe it is because her foal has received the highest score of the Keuring from the stallion auction. I have to call them to check this out. Well this is Christmas soon :):)

Hi Everyone,
I am in agreement with Kathy about size…I wouldn’t breed Goodtimes to a small mare, but wouldn’t worry about size when breeding to a good sized mare (as individually defined).
Suzanne, your comment about your mare being “friendly” is SO interesting…I just got back from visiting Wildcard Keur Elite (Goodtimes X Silvio 1 Elite Pref), and have to tell you that I have NEVER MET such a social, friendly, and intelligent horse…This mare is more like a smart dog than a horse!<G> “Jewel” never does anything “wrong”…It’s almost like she has reasoning ability and it is “below her” to act up or do anything stupid. You should SEE the way that she glares at horses doing things “below her”!<G> One thing that makes this mare SO unique is that anyone can handle her or ride her, but she does have what I call a “Pavo Cup Button” and when a capable rider asks for it, she gets sensitive, forward, and produces! This mare has been this quiet since just started…As a three year old at Fair Hill (the first time away from home under saddle) Jewel led a group of older horses through the woods when some were reluctant…Wildcard’s trainer Angela calls Jewel “Old Reliable”!<G> This is probably why she wins/ribbons so consistently under saddle…She doesn’t care where she is or about her surroundings…only pleasing her rider and “getting it right”!<G>
Sorry for the long post…As you can tell this mare is close to my heart!<G>
Warmly,
Karin
