The USEA podcast has a preview show out about this event, over 70 entries in the 4*, going to be an awesome day of eventing! Might be one of the only FEI events we see in North America this year. What I would do to be able to watch such a great field in person right now!!

I also see some Canadians who were here competing last weekend, I am kind of shocked with everything going on they are allowed to enter the US and head straight to an international event. Mind blowing really.

They were just at Will O Wind Horse Trials in Mono Ontario last weekend. Im in Ontario so I won’t be crossing otherwise I would love to volunteer lol

We have had several FEI events run this year and there are several more on that calendar. There are 2 still set to run in Area II right now with Plantation Fields (2- 4S) and VA HT (3L and 1-3*S). And there also several in Area III and I’m sure other parts of the Country. Plantation Fields will also be live streamed too. But enjoy GM this weekend.

that’d be quite a trip to volunteer trip haha. And some folks are exempt from travel quarantine protocols - the average schmoo like me would be quarantined. Will be fun to watch the stream though.

For Canadians, they have to isolate once they return. So I guess they must be staying down there. It would be hard to come back then be stuck in your house for 2 weeks and not be able to make sure your horse recovered properly or keep them in work. In Ontario, they are fining anyone who leaves their house after returning from the US over overseas within that 14 day period.

I assume since the horse is on their property it won’t be an issue to be quarantined, just don’t see how/why its worth it. Some UL riders don’t see the point in running them this year if they aren’t working towards anything.

I’m surprised they can go over the boarder, but I guess it’s open to go into the states, just not open for the US residents to come into Canada unless its for business.

I don’t know the accuracy of this - but a similar topic came up on the weekend and apparently there is a quarantine exemption for commercial transportation and some horse people re relying on that to cross the border and then continue without a 14 day quarantine. This is only what I was told - I have no idea if its true that trainer/riders are relying on this exemption, or even if there is actually such an exemption.

There is for commercial transportation, but I think the border is doing their due diligence. Even if they don’t have to, they better self quarantine because Ontario has been doing well and we don’t need anyone bringing COVID back because they wanted to go eventing! I just cant grasp it.

I just heard KOC say in the live stream that she rode her test in a double bridle, which used to be legal, but apparently is no longer. Such a bummer.

OMGGGG flashbacks of last summer when I did my dressage test in my hot orange bell boots and got eliminated because I forgot to take them off LOL

XC going well for most today! Many safe rounds inside or just over the time.

I’m about 2 hours away from GMI. The weather has been AMAZING this week! 60s at night and low 80s during the day without a lot of humidity. Our area had a ton of rain the first week or so of August…the ground is soft but not too soft and the grass :yes:
