Groom's "quarters"

Photos circulating on Facebook show the grooms quarters at Tryon… They appear to be bunks in large tents with Astro-turf floors. Some suggest there isn’t heat/ac/appropriate electrical and no restroom/shower facilities.

I’m disgusted.

There are already corrections going around that this is free housing for volunteers provided by a local church. I guess we will see soon enough.

Hopefully you are correct.

I just checked the page where I originally saw the info. It was deleted because of FEI threats to take away grooms’ accreditation.

Sounds political

Sounds like someone is trying to manufacture outrage.

Sounds like outrage is due.

It sounds to me like outrage is, at the most, premature. I haven’t even seen the Facebook post in question, but if there are corrections being put out that the pictures causing the outrage over the grooms’ quarters don’t even show the grooms’ quarters, what is there to be outraged about?

If accurate, it’s appalling. Like beyond ridiculous. If I can I’ll verify veracity. At panams they rented rvs for grooms, and I refuse to accept we have fewer available rvs than canada.

There is nothing from COTH, the official games Facebook page, or the unofficial games page. I mention the unofficial page because it’s purpose is to report on the facility.

that is likely the shelby mission camp…NOT grooms quarters at all. this is volunteer housing

I remember seeing news reports about the building of modular housing for WEG, found it;

I saw the FB video before it was taken down. Whatever it was, it most definitely did not look like the photos of the room on that third link (white room with bunk beds). It also was not modular housing. This was a straight-up open air tent-like structure.

Groom’s housing, manufactured by one of Mark Bellissimo’s companies.

I know at least a couple of Canadian dressage grooms are in an RV, but not sure if that’s part of official accommodations or if they found their own.

For firefighters they brought in a whole fleet of specialty RV-type vehicles with sleeping quarters during the Mendocino Complex fires. I believe there are also similar trailers that are used for filming on location and the like. So these kinds of things exist. No need for temporary housing to be unpleasant.

Garden sheds :lol::lol: seriously that’s also ridiculous. And I’m back to at panams there were rvs. It’s shite to have tents and garden sheds for grooms at the World Equestrian Games. Embarrassing.

Yep, tents and garden sheds and I have it that the “formal accomodations” are 45 minutes away so…tents and garden sheds.
