Guide to all things Pony? - and, meet Grundy

@endlessclimb

Awesome! Do you know if they do clinics, too? I don’t want to show up at a jackpot as her first time with cows lol

No info besides what I posted.
I’m sure if you call M&K they can tell you more.
Let me know if you & Grundy go, I can come & be your COTH cheer squad :mega:

Flooding!! (I guess I could stand in the back…:rofl:)

Grundy is out in the dark watching the gigantic combines and associated equipment harvest beans. I wonder what she figures they are. If I didn’t know, I’d think it was some sort of alien invasion. She’s not outright scared, but is definitely alertly watching.

I can hear the Old Man spinning tales to her about how they harvest cute little bay ponies every fall.

Watching the combines must have worn her out, she was super tired today. Got on and off a few times in the dressage saddle, walked around for a few minutes, called it quits. I don’t trust the saddle fits well enough to ask for much, and she was so tired anyways I didn’t want to start a fight I’m not in the mood to finish.

Good girl, Grundy.

I wonder if she was born on a Monday?

I’m dense and I don’t get it!

Solomon Grundy, born on a Monday
Christened on Tuesday
Married on Wednesday
Took sick on Thursday
Got worse on Friday
Died on Saturday
Buried on Sunday
And that was the end of Solomon Grundy

"Monday’s child is fair of face,
Tuesday’s child is full of grace.
Wednesday’s child is full of woe,
Thursday’s child has far to go.
Friday’s child is loving and giving,
Saturday’s child works hard for a living.
But the child that is born on Sabbath day,

Is bonny and blithe, good and gay."

The point billet seems to be doing the trick for getting the dressage saddle to stop sliding forwards, so that’s good news.

Grundy let the Old Man out of his stall at 10pm, so I was out there putting an eye hook with a snap on it in the pitch black. Who needs sleep? …grumble grumble hooligan grumble…

FWIW my latches are spring loaded to open to avoid the risk of anyone getting hipped by them, so all she had to do was lift it - but still…

Wearing our first super loose side reins today. Nothing she could have done would have engaged them, theyre there just for the weight of something on the bit. Good girl.

It was SO windy this weekend that I didn’t feel like being out in it. It gives me a headache after awhile.

I spent an embarrassing amount of time figuring out how/where/etc of how she likes her face rubbed. That was the extent of our weekend.

Agreed. Obnoxiously windy and rainy weekend when last week was still in the mid 70s. It’s always interesting to see how a new horse reacts in the wind. Two of mine have been edgy and the other three are/were okay with it. I always feel like they pick up smells from who knows what and most of the time I’d prefer not to be on their back to find out what they do :joy:

Did a little bit of work with the side reins again, she was super so called it quits early.

Introduced her to the percussion gun. Once we got over “what in the sam hell is that?” we VERY much enjoyed it. Lots of big releases, head down, leaning into it. Good girl!

We also had cold, windy and rainy this weekend. I was lucky and borrowed and indoor or I wouldn’t have ridden either! I hate the wind.

I just introduced side reins loosely on the lunge line as well last week so my guy had an idea of a “feel” and contact on his mouth, something that he is not a fan of (and to be expected of course).

Grundy looks great!

I’m dying watching my husband trying to turn the horses out on the cameras. It was rainy this morning so they stayed in, but he gets home early and could put them out - I admit that I didn’t include the step of “put a halter on” when I described the instructions, but I figured the horses would follow him. They follow me!

NOT GRUNDY! She was happily inside and didn’t really feel like going into the pasture. My husband is in there, has ahold of her blanket and is trying to drag her out, tries to lead her by her forelock, tries to grab a handful of mane, tries to cup her chin. Finally, on her OWN terms, she goes into the pasture. Atta girl, retain control.
