I hate them, think they’re stupid…especially the first one with the horse singing. My 20 year old uber feminist daughter was irritated with the one where she’s laying in the water with her boobs hanging out, which cracked me up, because she’s not one to comment on those things. Really though? WHAT are you selling? I still don’t know, don’t care. But…judging by the content, it’s a commercial aimed at men.

Justtheticket wants us to support a fellow woman in wearing whatever she wants without being considered a pawn.
Keep up.
The model can do whatever she damn well pleases, and the Buy-Stuff industry will do whatever it damn well pleases, but I, for one, will not “support the right” of exploitation in the name of supporting a fellow woman.
Unless you live in a cave, raise all your own food, and wear clothes made from grass or hides you support all manner of “exploitation” of all manner of things…and maybe some people.
People have been using sex to sell stuff since shortly after Noah landed the Ark. The reason? It works.
Hannah can walk away any time she wants to. That she doesn’t may annoy you, and many others, but that’s her call and not yours.

I think it is meant to parody.

I never realized bikinis were considered so scandalous in this day and age. On a woman who became famous as a swimsuit model, no less.
They are only scandalous if the woman wearing it is beautiful and has a great body. Fat women? God forbid you say they look bad in them, and might consider a one piece. Then you are woman hating. Only fat women are allowed to wear them and avoid the pearl clutching. Because apparently then, it is refreshing to see a woman so comfortable with their body. But they darn sure better not be comfortable with their body and be good looking. And certainly not get paid for it!!!

Exploitation is in the mind of the individual. If she feels exploited, she has the right to walk away. It’s not like she was brought to the country against her will, kept captive, and forced to do this work. You don’t get to decide whether she is exploited; she does.
Why isn’t anyone pointing out that Flo’s adorable quirkiness is being exploited by Progressive?
And as far as sex selling products and services, it’s the MEN who should be insulted - thinking that boobs will influence their decisions! How dumb are they? I never bought a product because a hot guy was portrayed in the ad.

I’ve never bought a product because some chick is showing off her wares!!!
But I’ve looked at the ad. Men are very visual and advertisers know this. So they do things to catch the male eye. A comely female is one the most eye-catching things the Mad Men can use. Feminists may grouse about this but that’s the way men are wired. If they’ve got a complaint write a nasty letter to the Pope to complain about this particular Act of God!

Oh, wow, really, Captain Obvious?
And here all this time, I thought otherwise. :rolls:

No, actually, it is not. Exploitation is a cultural phenomenon.
Now, AS I POSTED, the model can do what she wants. I’m talking about Justtheticket encouraging us all to “support our sisters” in “wearing what they want” when this has nothing to do with our sisters and their choices, but rather the commercialization of sexual themes.
I’m with Flash44. If I were male, I’d be embarrassed to be targetted like this. But then, if I were male, I might agree with Captain Obvious.
Flo’s adorable? oh, um … ok :uhoh:

Well, for some folks stating the obvious is just part of living.

You can’t have it both ways. Either a woman has a right to decide what she will do with her own body or she doesn’t. I support that right and encourage women to exercise it. Apparently you only support it when it fits your agenda.

If making one grate one’s teeth and hit “mute” on the remote is evidence of being adorable…
Aregard, I understand sarcasm doesn’t come across well in text, so I’m letting you know that the “support your sisters” comment was in fact sarcastic. I’m understanding that attractive young women offend you, so I’m sorry to have hit such a sore spot with you.
Also, lighten up. Life’s too short to be angry about TV commercials.

THIS^.
Love these culture-warriors always trying to change What Is into What Is Not and Will Likely Never Be. Swim upstream, much? They might be happier with a little radical acceptance of the world as it is. Since most of it isn’t your problem anyway. Does one NOT have to go out of one’s way to see crap like this posted on YouTube?

The freedom to act heinously doesn’t mean it is moral and right to act heinously. What country are you living in?

Wow. Way to assume.
Now, you could have forestalled quite a bit of backing and forthing by speaking up sooner, but I appreciate that people have real lives. I’ll stop referencing your sarcastic comment.
Sorry. I don’t spend any time thinking about threads here or commercials. I had no idea that people actually do. Clearly I was wrong.
I’m pretty sure I haven’t assumed anything. Your comments have made it clear how you feel about the unsung exploited class, the swimsuit model. Those poor souls.

Wearing a bikini on tv is a heinous act?
Hate the commercial! To the point if it comes on, I flip the channel. It just seems stupid.
