We are officially one week out.
A box full of plants that I ordered a couple months ago showed up yesterday.
Right, because there’s not enough to do in the next week

I am locking in my packing list for the inspection. I am still a little confused what to wear for the ridden portion of the MPT. I’ve watched video after video, and it goes between show clothes with a jacket, to riders in polos.
I can pack both of them, but since I’m alone I’ll have to make a game-day decision the morning of. I won’t have time to change. @tabula_rashah what was the most common attire you saw?
Not that it means much, but it’s going to be pretty hot that day:
Mostly toned down show clothes (ie no bling or colors). But honestly if it’s going to be a million degrees and you will feel more comfortable in a polo (and therefore present better) then wear that. I really have never heard the judges make a single comment about what a rider or handler was wearing
Ok. I’ll bring a variety of stuff, and decide after talking with the organizer maybe?
I was thinking to wear a polo and khakis (with my spanx underneath so I don’t have to wrestle sweat later) for the morning, then change into riding clothes at the lunch break to be ready for the ridden portion. I could wear a black long sleeve, the black polo, or full show attire (none of my stuff is blingy anyways, I never want to stand out for the wrong reasons haha). Mare will be in her somewhat flashy Halter Ego bridle, and just a plain white pad.
Bring several options and wear what the majority of others are wearing if you are seeking to blend in. It really doesn’t matter.
Had our final ride this morning, she was great.
Tail is banged and washed. Mane is washed. Face is washed. Spent some time hosing her with the nozzle on ‘flat’ to get all the dirt out. Buffed and polished her feet (easier to do it early, than deal with trailer induced deep poop stains, it will need a reboot but shouldn’t take as long).
Nearly everything is packed up. We leave tomorrow!!
Good Luck!
HAVE A GREAT TIME!!! Take lots of pictures of Dory – I mean Shaney – for the COTH Aunties.
Good luck! Looking forward to a full report.
Gooooo Dory!
Good luck, Shaney! No Dory hijinks allowed this week!
GOOD LUCK. Expect a full report. With pictures.
And get some sleep.
Good luck. Lovely mare!
There is at least one more thoroughbred coming, Careless Whisper who competed in the RRP a few years ago.
Shayney is settling reasonably well. The camera in the trailer was more funny than anything, but didn’t offer an explanation on how she can get her right hind boot discombobulated every single time. I wonder if she’s rubbing it on the ramp? No stomping, no kicking. Just… always it slides down.
She was giving dirty faces to every car that passed, and hiding her face from every semi. She wore her hay net as a hat a lot.
Well her blaze still looks spanking white - so at least she had the good sense to keep clean.
It’s going to be 94 degrees today.
Hopefully we can get out jump chute acclimation done early and spend the rest of the day trying to stay cool.
She looks like she is settling in well. I love that you have a photo of her next to the AHS banner. Have a great time today, can’t wait for updates.
Good thing you clipped her. Same temperature here today too. YUCK! You both will be exhausted at the end of the day.
