Love it. I’m not surprised this is a thing! Hanover produces so many and with their naming system (letter from dam’s name and needs to include Hanover), it HAS to be hard to come up for names under 18 characters that aren’t taken yet!
Do you know if this new for 2017 or was it done in previous years?

I believe it was done in previous years, PPP. I’m not quite sure for how long, though.
I’m not and was thinking the same, RPM. Perhaps I’ll sent them an e-mail and ask. I’ll update if/when I find out.
So, they said they’ve been doing it for about 10 years. The winners get notified by e-mail after the name is accepted by the USTA. That will be about year from now, they said.

Rules look pretty simple and nothing to say multiple entries prohibited. Do you think they might be receptive to Florsheim Hanover? BostonIan Hanover? Striderighthanover? Skeckers Hanover? Poor Fit Hanover?

I somehow don’t think they’ll be enthused with those entries. I’m not familiar with their shoes but they do make nice horses.
You never know what names they will use. My SO had a filly with the name that read My Cup Runneth Over Hannover but the first part was spelled without any vowels or spaces. We called her Ginger. Not sure how that one was accepted by the USTA!

There’s no rule that says the name has to be spelled correctly or include all the letters or even be a real word. Looks like they did what they had to do to fit it in 18 characters, and it plays off the parents’ names a bit. If you don’t know what it’s supposed to be, though, it might be a little like when you get behind a vanity plate and rack your brains trying to figure it out.
