What a stroke of PR genius! I was on the fence about this guy until I saw this video. Now I realize that I’ve wasted all of these years training with fat jealous losers who are so jealous they won’t even offer up their time and facilities to host free clinics for trainers they’ve never even met. The sort of cyber-bullies who use private messages to warn friends about the reputations of other pros. Thank goodness he caught this person off guard by calling late at night so we could all see that when she’s not hiding behind a screen name the only answers she has to his tough questions are questions of her own. I’ve been taken in too long by the jealous witches who post on the Chronicle saying that this man might not have the maturity and insight to train riders like me and off-breed horses like mine to GP. This guy has the guts to confront people about their so-called “freedom of speech” and their use of private communication to influence other equestrians, and the wisdom to secretly record it and post it on the internet. We can all see who’s in the wrong now. Bravo, maestro!

Well, NP himself put that video Out There in a few places as Evidence of how not to behave like a professional (oh, the irony… ) so he was more than willing to share it with anyone and everyone. All that being said, this is not helpful to the OP’s “friend” and serves only to muddy any actions she may be able to take…

I did not report it as I believe (hope?) the OP is more than capable of understanding that this is not a good idea…

1. never consented to the recording

2. lived in a state where both parties must consent to any recording

You might want to refresh yourself on some of the privileges/defenses available under Pennsylvania law to a defamation suit. If you google there are some pretty informative websites. In particular I would look for ones by non-profits that handle media law or law school/law firm websites.

That being said, it does seem like there isn’t a whole lot to discuss here other than the fact that it happened. And it’s not hugely horse-related, aside from involving one trainer. So I would not be surprised if the thread was closed.

For the record…no, the victim never gave consent to Nick to be recorded.

Second, Pennsylvania, where Nick resides, is a two-party consent state of which he realized after the fact as he added that edit to the second video.

Third, as indicated in the disclaimer in the original post, the victim is aware and indicated she had no issues with the links being posted.

Research was done prior to the links going up; they weren’t just tossed up here without forethought and checking.

I think we have all been MORE THAN fair to Nick. He actually deserves much worse, but I think we are trying to stick to facts.

This makes no sense. I wasn’t trying to tell the mods how to proceed or giving a legal opinion. I simply pointed you (and others) towards resources on the topic given the seemingly misinformed information being posted.

If you want to learn about defamation law, there are great resources out there written for a lay audience. Up to you whether you want to be well informed or not.

I am not “repeating lies”. I am just reading your posts and your own repeated words and insults.

I am not trying to make you shut up - how so? Carry on as you wish - my point was that you can make the same points without the need for rude comments and sneers.

You are doing a bad job of “defending common decency” (as you put it) when you use insults and sneers as a way to accomplish that…
