Has anyone else started reading the book “Off Course” that was just written and released about the USEF?

When I was in high school, one of our teachers was a cheerleader for the local Canadian Football League (CFL). A lot of the guys thought she was pretty hot though she dressed pretty conservatively for teaching and back in the early 80’s, cheerleaders were more covered than the example posted.

No it isn’t.

Lots to read. Lots of back stabbing and black listing within the organization. The overcharging of horse shows and the lack luster support for us grass root riders.

Not as acceptable in today’s lyrics? :joy: It’s a bad or worse. If it offends you don’t listen to it.

That’s what I meant by $$$.

Apparently, you misunderstood what I wrote.

I said Snoop Dogg, yes, was basically like an Olympic mascot, I knew he was everywhere.

I said it was the Megan Thee Stallion commercial I was unaware of.

The rest is not worth my energy responding to.

See this is the part I don’t get.

Find something offensive or not to your taste?

Cool. Valid. You do you.

You’re probably not the intended audience anyway. Nor am I always the intended audience for a particular type of entertainment.

People people people people people.

I for one didn’t appreciate Martha just as much as I didn’t appreciate Snoop or the Meghan Thee Stallion ad for the Olympics.

“Relatively elegant” compared to what other Olympic sports? I think your feelings, that “other black people” IE those who conform to your view as living up to the “elegant pursuits” of Equestrian sports, should have been chosen, is snobby. I suppose it’s Denzel Washington’s elegant voice rather than Snoop’s hip hop style of speaking that you prefer.

I don’t recall anyone “behaving like trash” while the commenting on any of the Olympic Equestrian sport broadcasts.

I dislike hip-hop personally, not a fan, but I’m not a fan of Martha Stewart either. I thought the interviews with Stewart and Snoop were uninteresting, but not offensive at all and I bet a whole lot of people, especially non-horsey ones, thought they were great.

None of the three people being complained about here were actually commentators during the rides.

There’s real membership vs “fan” membership. They did that to pump the numbers which fan memberships are a maximum of $25 and often given away with other offers. Competing members it’s 21% year over year decline.

Exactly which is brought to light as well in the book. I am not the author nor have any relation to them - I do not know them at all. In fact a friend of mine who is a steward is who told me about the book initially. I’m someone who is sick of the USEF putting profits above horse and people welfare, pedophelia and cronyism is rampant, as well as blacklisting for ridiculous reasons, and to think people for one second believe that because they create a DEI initiative that they are doing something noble for the sport: nope, they’re doing only because they think it sounds nice, but not actually putting any real action behind anything noble with regards to it. USEF is run by attorneys and investment bankers whose sole focus is to generate bottom line profits. Not what I want to be part of and one of the many reasons I refuse to participate anymore along with so many others I know. They are a pathetic excuse for a governing body and we should all be embarrassed - the Europeans think we are pathetic.

And what I really have a problem with is that they enforce practically nothing, especially with their cronies. The fact there’s a current individual suspended by SafeSport that continues to show up at horse shows and USEF, the stewards and show management do nothing. That is criminal.

why does it bother you that USEF wants to encourage non-white people and LGBT people in this sport? And to be frank I can see that your focus is very much on the “T” part of that equation. I’m not sure how any of these things are a threat to our sport or society in general

Guess you should walk away.

I will no longer associate myself with them, correct. Along with 21% more people this year

Because you’re really focused on a weirdly small thing that is not the problem

Do you realize I have no problem with DEI if that was what was actually truly a noble focus? It’s all words on a page to make people think they’re so wonderful. It’s all BS. Please tell me what one thing they have done to make this sport more inclusive. Please add up what you have spent in their fees alone at shows plus factor in the show management is paying them additional money for the dates. And please tell me other than sending emails out about horse welfare what they have actually done to make changes. I see daily changes coming out from FEI AND THE EUROPEANS AND AUSTRALIANS. Why not the USEF? This is why I am now electing to keep jumpers in Europe and show there . Where there’s not cheating and they take the future of the sport seriously beyond profits.

Okay so if it’s just meaningless words on a page and having no impact then why does it bother you?
