Nothing make me happier than when these old references come up.
I mean what was the point of writing a whole book when what you really want to say could fit on a post card. - Make H/J’s great again- all white and full of sex offenders
But we can be pretty sure Judy is reading.
Well. If I had to hazard a guess, I’d say it’s that a book can be sold and seems more credible to the easily bamboozled than a postcard or unhinged social media post.
Boy, I am the wrong person for this forum.
Anywho, here is my stall set up at Rebecca Farm 3 years ago. Thank you Sara Broussard for supplying us with flags to show our support the community.
Ooh, then maybe we can be assured of a follow-up book! Maybe something told from the horse’s view:
Gunner’s Story: The lamentations of a snowy white horse who has the misfortune of being purchased by a young African-American equestrian with aspirations of winning a Maclay Medal.
Why wouldn’t you want to use one of the biggest stars to promote a sport that would have probably been underwatched by the general public? I think it is a great way to get people who would not otherwise have been involved interested!
Omg you woke monster. Ruining the sport lol.
Horses in the Hood. Intro to horses for kids that had never seen one except on TV and came from the worst parts of East LA. No idea if it is still operative but it was running for years with lots of support from both communities,
no his are gross too… dont forget the extra helping of misogyny.
but i guess if we want a pot smoking ex drug dealing gang banger and a hoochie momma stripper representing our sports i guess we are well on our way.
anybody who thinks that community has not been very well represented in the equestrian community for at least as long as i can remember truly lives under a rock lol
Watched the commercial.
I didn’t have the sound up on my laptop so was going by YouTube’s closed captions.
What, precisely, am I meant to be offended by?
It’s comparing dressage horses to dancers - a comparison many horse people make - and she’s calling the horse and the sport “hot.” Which - yes, hot can indeed mean sexually attractive but not universally.
Megan Thee Stallion’s dancing in the commercial isn’t even that provocative, I’ve seen more provocative moves from Britney Spears and Miley Cyrus.
It has the vibes of a goofy Super Bowl commercial, not some salacious shield-thine-eyes and thine-child’s-eyes vibe.
Thank you!! I knew of the program and completely blanked on every detail as soon as I remembered it and thought to bring it up here.
There’s an eventing barn near me that has a version of their farm logo with the Progress Flag colors. Always encouraging to see
I think OP might be offended by the language? Or perhaps maybe that the person featured in the commercial isn’t white?
I thought it was great, and so cool to see horses get a bigger stage.
Not at all an expert on Megan Thee Stallion and won’t quibble with you on Snoop Dogg because his image has absolutely been cleaned up but looking at a basic wikipedia-level overview of Megan Thee Stallion, yes, her lyrics relate to her own confidence in her sexuality but nothing indicates she’s a, er, “hoochie momma stripper” as you put it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Megan_Thee_Stallion
Even if she has been one at some point, either she was doing what she had to do under less-than-ideal circumstance or it’s work she chose to pursue and since it’s not my life I’m not going to shame someone else.
Ok, it seems pretty clear that you are the author.
Why are you hiding?
isn’t the term bi racial?
Well the thread lock posters have showed up to focus on the minutiae instead of the meat. Eating my popcorn.
