Have you guys seen the Equi-trek trailers in the UK?

Why can’t the american companies make something like this???

what you mean these -
www.equitrek.co.uk check out the lorries they lovely

I love the horse vans… wow very nice

GLS- yes!!! Those are the ones!!! I would kill for the Star Trekka!!! Ahhhh, makes me wish I were a Brit!!!

i want the super sonic or the valent

They are sort of like Bender-Ups right? I wish they were in the US just so BenderUp had some competition and maybe wouldn’t be so expensive!

Brenderup.

Does anyone remember the bumper pull trailer with the ITTY BITTY living quarters in front that someone showed a while ago? I’ve been meaning to look for that and just ogle it.

LOVE horse boxes. SO impractical for me, though. :sigh:

I want that Sonic van. Heck, brand new, importing it and with the Euro to $ conversion it’s still cheaper than my F250 and a new trailer would cost.
Been trying to find a lightly used or new something like that here in the States. Ugh, not easy. Looking like crazy for a couple months now, nothing so far. When I find one though…trading in or selling the truck!
Hubby’s concern was, “Well how are you going to pick up hay in that?” Easy sweetie and I don’t even care if it’s raining with a van!

SO impractical for me, though. :sigh:[/QUOTE] Why, besides having to stretch over to the passenger side when driving? But is there another reason?

:lol: Oops! You can tell I haven’t been trailer shopping in a while! I wouldn’t mind up grading my lil stock for one of those Equi-treks! But i’d be so spoiled with a dressing room

As much as I ADORE my Brenderup, I’d trade it for a Sonic in a heartbeat. Imagine not having to hook up!

Even if we could just get Rice trailers here, there’d be SOME competition for Brenderup. There’s no reason the B’ups are so expensive except for lack of anything else remotely like it.

I would adore a lightweight, single horse rig to go to shows/lessons etc. with an SUV type everyday car… I’ve got a stocker for mare/foals, emergencies etc. But it has disadvantages in the rain.

I thought that too…until I really thought about it. Brenderups cost so much because they’re made with quality materials and use more sophisticated engineering on the chassis.

What other trailers will you see that are 20 years old and aren’t entirely rusted or corroded? There’s steel and then there’s good quality steel. There’s galvanizing, and then there’s good quality galvanizing. The fact that they last so long is a testimony about their quality.

No matter how many competitors there were, I think that the prices would be the same if the quality was the same.

My trainer has a twenty-odd year old rice that’s still in lovely condition. The side ramps on the Equi-trek trailers bothers me a bit. I’d hate to have an accident with the trailer ending up laying on the ramp. That would be bad.

My hubby thinks I’m an idiot because I have a little three horse box and use my truck and trailer. Maybe I am. :sigh: But I find the ramp really heavy and awkward on the box, so I don’t like using it.

I want one of these:

Maybe when I win the lotto.

Not sure I get what I am missing that is so intriguing. Is it that you pull the trailer with a non-pickup? With no bed and no tackroom in the trailer (living quarters)…where the heck does the all the hay and tack for those 3 horses go?

When I leave for a long weekend–the cab is packed, the bed is packed, and sometimes the spare stall in the trailer is packed!

And if you are just looking for horse van…

The usa has http://www.frankdibella.com/ and http://www.frankdibella.com/ to name a few.

All of them have a living area in the front. Granted, it’s not huge on the smaller models, but it would be enough to store tack and hay.

I don’t think I go anywhere nice enough for that rig… it would be stuck in the mud at a schooling show somewhere

For the prices, I don’t think I’d dare let a horse within fifty feet of it! I’d just park it in the drive and drool over it.

But they still cost way more than the exchange rate and shipping will account for…due to the lack of competition. I’d love to have the options they have in europe. I have a horse thqat won’t haul facing the front. I’d love to have the option of light european rear facing trailer redily available on the east coast.

Some of this might be accounted for by different materials. In Europe the trailers have either laminated wood or fiberglass walls. The US manufacturer decided to go with phenolic core for added strength.

There was a guy that tried to produce another brand of european trailer in the US. He went out of business.
