Have you guys seen the Equi-trek trailers in the UK?

I can’t get over the price — 5,000 pounds Even with the conversion rate, that is still less than $10,000.

Trailers here are outrageously expensive.

I remember seeing (in a magazine or online) a tow vehicle/trailer which was a 2 seater car whose back end slid under the “goose neck” of the trailer and the end result was 1 vehicle, looking like a small horse van. Or was it a horse van? It might have been a small travel trailer?

Does anyone else remember seeing something like this?

I think that small vans disappeared in favor of BP and goose necks when people began to haul their own horses and needed a separate vehicle when they got to the show.

GVWR isn’t the weigh of the trailer…it’s the max weight including the trailer and payload. The Portax is about 2250 lbs empty. That’s similar to the TrailersUSA Minuteman Sport that I use.

I bought a used Brenderup a couple of months ago from a dealer in Norco, CA. They’ve just started importing Equi-Treks if anyone’s interested.

They were stand-up folks, and did a full inspection on the Brenderup for me even though it was a consignment trailer. Checked the brakes, tires, lights, fixed some minor things, etc. Treated me as though I were just as important as the rodeo couple at the counter next to me, who were ordering an $80k custom trailer!

Find them here: All American Trailers

I still don’t quote get it - see this site: http://www.boeckmann.com/en/product/horse_trailer/portax

Payload is 1321kg (2912#) and “total weight” (icon shows a trailer + horse) is 2400kg (5291#) - so does the trailer weigh 2912#?

2400-1321 is the total weight you should put in it (horses and tack). Trailer weight is 1321.

I am smitten Equi-Trek vans, which are not available here. I was in England a few weeks ago and they are listing for £24,000 (approx. $35k). Side load, easy to drive with a regular license, and lightweight. I’d buy one in a heartbeat. http://www.equi-trek.com/products/sonic-150

WHY CAN’T WE HAVE NICE THINGS???

Equi-Trek Portland appears to have the vans! http://www.equi-trek-portland.com/equi-trek-horse-trailers/#sleep

Those were not there the last time I looked. You have just made my day!

scruffy, look at THIS!

http://www.equi-trek-portland.com/event/western-states-horse-expo-2016/?instance_id=170

“Western States Horse Expo 2016
The Biggest Horse Show this Summer! will host L & D Trailers sharing the Brilliantly designed Equi-Trek, Ltd. Horse Trailers and Transports!
featuring info on SONIC! – Ford Transit Small Horsebox !
taking orders for FALL 2016 delivery”

OK so I went to the Expo to look at the Equi-Treks and they had the Star-Treka (3 axle largest trailer) at the show.

Impressions:
Very nice!
Horses can’t put head down past chest bar due to two external tack boxes. Not so in Show Treka?
Not much tack room - even less than my Brenderup Baron…
This one had a shower and toilet!
Living area was bigger than I expected.
Ramp is on the right side so no unloading at the side of the road into traffic…
No fridge…
Bunk beds changed in this model - now they’re a pull out larger bed.
Breast bar can be dropped from the outside now in case of emergency

Priced around $29k and tax.

Xanthoria, Böckmann Portax front ramp is on the right, at least here in North America.

No LQ, however…

I don’t care aboout the living quarters as much, although the small livingspace would probably be great for a weekender show. I like that they are light and that many of the companies seem to offer a rear facing option without adding a lot of extra length. Only one US company, Turnbow, offers a rear facing trailer as a standard, and they are expensive and very hard to get on the east coast. Also, most of the european trailers seem to have a minimum 7 foot height with many at 7 '6" or higher. Why US companies make the average trailer 6’6" OR 7" WITH 7’6" as an expensive add on option,I’ll never know! What I would like is simple: Something like the show treka: a rear facing trailer with a small dressing room that is not 18+ feet long and has decent headroom for taller horses…and does not need to pe pulled by a 1/2 ton or larger truck…very difficult to find off the lot in the US :)[/QUOTE]

I have a rear facing trailer and it was no more expensive than the front facing and it is also the same length that a front facing trailer would be, and my trailer is 8ft tall. it was not much more for the extra height. if you look you shall find. I will say i did order this trailer as the company only builds custom trailers and they build exactly what you want. Why wouldn’t you go this route when you are investing that much money? So i got exactly what i wanted and was told there was no “standard” there and that whatever i wanted would be standard on my trailer.
