Healthy Haircare Moisturizer - anyone use this?

Silly question. I love that Show Sheen Detangler stuff but I go through it like crazy. Has anyone used the Healthy Haircare Moisturizer stuff, and how does it compare?

I realize that for brushing out tails, the detangler is probably best. But I also use it after I ride & hose the horses, to re-moisturize and detangle manes & forelocks. I’m wondering if I can save some $$$ using the Moisturizer for that instead. (Since a quart of the Moisturizer is only about $1 less than a pint of the detangler.)

I love the Healthy Haircare stuff and use it quite often. Can’t compare to the Show Sheen detangler product as I don’t use that, but if it is like Cowboy Magic (which I don’t like at all), I would prefer the HH as it isn’t so greasy and doesn’t leave a residue. My sensitive horses have all done okay with HH where other products sometimes make them itchy. Since you mix it with water, it lasts a long time, so is pretty economical as well. Smells good too!

Ah yes, “the pink stuff”.

I use it in the winter, and for a short time in the spring after my mare has been bodyclipped. It does seem to help with dryness/brittleness of the tail, and it’s a great moisturizer on a freshly clipped coat. I ALWAYS use it right after body clipping, it sits right next to the body clippers.

Yes and love it.

Yes, love it, spray lightly (LIGHTLY!) before putting my blankets on in the winter to alleviate static.

I have used it for years to moisturize dry skin and regrow hair on scrapes and such. But it doesn’t have silicone in it like ShowSheen, so it’s not the best for use as a detangler. The two aren’t really comparable IMO. Different uses.

LOVE IT!

Doesn’t really detangle but great for coats, etc.

I’ve been using it for about five years now and love the moisturizing and shine aspect of it. I don’t mix it quite as strong as is recommended and I only lightly apply as a little bit seems to go a long way. As far as being a true detangler - have to agree with the others - it’s not a detangler. I like to use the Pantene detangler for both my horses and me.

Use it and love it… Used to use laser sheen, but I switched and I won’t go back. I still use a shampoo and conditioner, but I use the HH whenever I brush.

We use this on all our horses, and prefer it to Show Sheen on a daily or weekly basis because SS typically leaves a residue which attracts dirt, etc. Also, for polo, we are tying our horses tails up and the SS just makes them WAY too slippery. HHC seems to really condition and protect the hair and is more economical than SS. For a detangler, I think Vetrolin Shine works just as well as SS and doesn’t leave as much residue.

Yes, swear by it! The best non-smelly product for hair growth and conditioning I use it on my ASBs mane and tail - spray it on the tailbone and use your fingers to rub the bone and you will see growth. It doesn’t contain silicone so it isn’t the best for detangling and shine.

Yep totally love it!

Love the pink stuff, and I use it as an everyday detangler on tails.

Just used it a few hours ago on my gelding’s itchy tail.

Better than Infusium?

I love it! It’s fantastic on coats. I always have it on hand when I body clip to give a sort of hot oil treatment after-2 parts HH to 5 parts warm water. I also keep a spray bottle mixed up of 2 parts HH, 1 part lazer sheen, 1 part baby oil and 5 parts water. I find it attracts dirt in tails, and it’s not really a detangler by itself. I do spray manes and tails when bathed and still wet. Prefer it more on the body.

I started using it this spring when my horse’s skin and coat were very dry and sensitive and he was getting lots and lots of rubs. I used it every day for months and LOVED it (would do a good grooming, then spray lightly, rub with a towel, then smooth his coat with the towel. Also used it after every rinse or bath). I can honestly say it made a difference, since the only real difference in my usual grooming process was the addition of the pink stuff! I’ve backed off of it a bit, using it just a few times a week now, but since I have to clip him next week, I’ll probably start using it all the time again.

Don’t know about the detangling properties of it. I’ll spritz his tail, but I only brush it out if it is well washed and I still use Vetrolin Shine to detangle.

Nice thing about it is that it is NOT slippery like Show Sheen or Vetrolin Shine or whatever. So, I feel comfortable using it all over…I never use the other stuff on their bodies.

I love this stuff! I add it into either the Healthy Hair Care Sunflower Sunscreen or Vetrolin Shine. That way I get the sunscreen benefit with added moisture. I find that it keeps the coat so moisturized that the dust just sits on the surface.

When bathing I will also put a couple glugs into a bucket of water and use this as a final “rinse.”

Love this stuff. Love it way better than Show Sheen, which in my experience, breaks hairs and leaves a residue.

It helped my TB’s tail a lot. I swear by the stuff.

Yep! used it just today. I really like it, but its not at all like the shine product you are using right now.

I like cowboy magic for major detangling, it adds “slip” but does not moisturize, rather it drys the hair.

Healthy hair, I dilute with water, to make a spray to use over the body. It adds shine, moisturizes. I use it straight in my filly’s tail.

Now, my horse has sad appaloosa tail, and is out in pasture, so I put the HH on straight, and finish with a bit of cowboy magic, which seems to help keep the hair from catching and tangling out in the field.

This time of year in CA we have “tar weed” which can make a sticky mess of out of the horses. I discovered a little HH on a rag wipes it right away.
