I got goosebumps when I opened this thread. 39 and thriving due to generous hearts in the horse community. Fingers crossed we get a photo update!
I’ve read all 45 pages of this thread today. Wow. You guys are awesome.
Has anyone ever written up this story as a feature for a horsey magazine or some other publication? If not, I would love to try! (I’m a freelance journalist these days)
Thanks so much for keeping us updated CloudyAndCallie! This is the email:

Funny says thank you very much for the cookie money!!
She’s doing well, eating, napping, pooping…repeat.
She is completely blind now…her sight has been slowly slipping away and it was a little difficult for her. But she has adjusted and gets around fine. She knows her surroundings and stays close with the herd. Her buddy, Fred, stays very close by her side and keeps her safe. It’s very sweet… He’s a young TB, quite full of himself, but he is so kind and careful with Funny.
Besides her eyesight, she is doing very well. Great appetite, comfortable getting around, and seems quite content.
Especially when she hears her German Muffins bag open up!! ???
This is the best way I could come up with for posting the photo:

What a lucky mare! They should all be so fortunate. A million thanks to Kim for her excellent care of Funny!
Can’t help but continue to open up these updates and be so thrilled to be a part of Funny’s life. The photo is amazing … I hope I look that good when I’m the human equivalent age of Funny!
45 pages! Oh my. Is this worth the read? I missed the story the first time around.
I can’t believe she is still around, that’s awesome! I remember the thread the first time around when we dribbled for her. Amazing job by her owners!!
Talkofthetown, yes, it is absolutely worth reading and it will renew your faith in people. Well, I thought it did. : )

Good to know! Will be doing lots of sitting around at airports next week. Bookmarked!
what a truly wonderful and heartwarming story.
Thanks for sharing the picture, I will update her Facebook page!!!
oh she looks FABULOUS! Good onya!
I hope our mare is doing well. I’m still sending a dribble every month for the old girl to spend on treats.
Got an email from Kim this afternoon that our mare, Funny, was put down today because of a series of strokes. Kim took care of our mare for years with just a monthly dribble from some of us owners.
Thank you Kim you were wonderful to take our mare and care for her. She had a wonderful retirement with you and the gelding she liked in her old age.
You were wonderful to our mare Kim!
RIP Always Funny.
I just sent Funny’s estate to Kim and Keith to go out to dinner and a champagne toast to Funny’s life. The mare was so happy to live there that she saved a little from the dribbles we all sent for 5 years so that she could repay Kim and Keith a little to thank them for helping her. TB mares are so great!
I hardly ever read this forum and just today read this thread for the first time. What a wonderful group of posters to help this mare. I wish I could have been one of them. RIP Funny.
Godspeed Funny! Really wonderful of Kim and Keith to give her a safe harbor in her last years. Thank you!
I am so sorry to read she reached the end of the earthly road. Condolences, and kudos to Kim. and to all those who helped.
For the past few pages I’ve been afraid to open this thread expecting that it would be the last news we would hear about our old chestnut mare.
We need more people like Kim/Keith and the COTHERS that pulled together to save her.
Funny was our starfish.
