Ummmmm…these people ARE asshats, but if you re-read the original ad, the part about “Struggling” is NOT about the horse struggling. I think the owner meant THEY are struggling financially, and cannot properly care for her.
I’ll help with $100 for expenses if someone can take her in. Maybe we can give her a few good months.
Jeezus, if someone can organize something, I’ll kick in $25, whichever way you all decide to go.
Sounds like these people genuinely need help and/or some education about the options available to them.
Cother generosity never ceases to amaze me:winkgrin:
Jingles the old one gets a good final home
Hi there,
Long time lurker, but I have to jump on in. I live in Remington and have plenty of room for another old lady. I am working on my SO but I am sure he will not turn down any horse in need. I have fields, food, and friendly horses. If someone wants to grab her and put her here, my farm is open.
I emailed the owner the following:
Regarding your horse for sale.
By asking $200, the only offers you get will be from the kill buyers, who will ship your beloved horse in horrific conditions to the slaughterhouse, where he will die a cruel death.
The kindest gift you can give your horse is to euthanize him, where he is surrounded by those who know and love him.
Euthanasia is not a horrible thing. Animals do not dwell on the future like we do. They do not fear death if it comes peacefully.
And her response:
im sorry but i have to do what i have to do we dont have the money to do alot of things so this is what we chose thanks again
I hope somebody can go save this horse, even if it is to give it a dignified death. Hopefully, it can live out its final days in someones field.
Jingles! I can’t believe how everyone is offering to pitch in! $15 to a paypal is my offer, not much but… Every bit counts.
I can kick in 25 if someone can take her. Hoping someone can step up. Old horses are a pleasure and easy to have around.
I can’t contribute at this time, but sounds like Bluengray will be willing to take her in if possible.
Poor girl, at least the owners are not being sh!theads about people contacting them with what to expect. Maybe they will come around to giving her away. That part just blows me away.
Is there an email for this person besides the Craigslist address? I am not able to send a message, comes back with errors. I am not super computer savvy.

Girl you rock! I’m nowhere near, but can chip in some $.
Someone go get her please! I think we can come up with the ransom.
No $
But advice to whoever can take her in. Keep copies of the ad and correspondence. Photos of her front, back, sides dated on her present property. You don’t want to be blamed for her condition (which I hope isn’t as bad as it sounds). There seems to be an anti-aged horse theme in otherwise well meaning rescues… But that is a whole 'nother thread.
Will they give her away? Or take $100? I’ll kick in another $50 if they are resistant to a giveaway. If so, the monies promised from COTHers can go to trailering, feed, etc. Anyone close enough to Bluengrey in Remington to pick her up? (I have no idea where that is, sorry…)
I didn’t total up the amounts that others have offered, but Cloudy and Hattie are in to help get the 200$. Don’t tick off the seller. While savoy8 was able to get her horse for 1/2 price, sometimes people just won’t reduce the price.
Now how to get the horse to the person will will take her in? And will her SO get ticked off and mad?
If someone who can buy the horse has paypal account, that is the way to go. I’m back from barn and will be out this afternoon, but PM me what is still needed after the above donations are counted to get horse to safety. I’m be back tonight.
BlueNGrey, THANK YOU!!!
We have somewhere to put Ms. Mare!!! Whooohoooo!!!
It looks like we need trailering now. Is there anyone with a trailer who could pick up and drop off Ms. Mare?

Don’t tick off the seller. [/QUOTE]
That’s my worry. I’m always worried the emails that result from folks just having to say something “constructive” or nasty to the person with the ad is going to end up badly for the horse. If you guys really want the horse out of there, tread lightly with the seller. Until the horse has gotten it’s upgrade, anyway.

Totally agree B&G you totally rock! Jingles that this will work out.
How much is transportation via paid service from where she is to where she’s going? Cloudy and Hattie have some $ to help, if her sales price has already been met.
PM me. Back later. Paypal is the way to go.
Be careful with owner. Pride and face are not to be attacked. At least they don’t want horse to starve to death there.
Darn, I wish I could get a horse to live to 35 yoa!
Can one of the more established Cothers call Bluengray and maybe get some photos of her farm as well? Since they don’t have any history here it would be nice to confirm that the mare would be going somewhere safe… Just saying…
