Peanuts sent This makes me so happy. COTH rules
Iâll pay alittlegrayâs gas money so that the leftover donations can go with the mare.
Diesel is 4.10 here. They cannot fool us with that 4.09 and 9/10 crap.
This is something I will never understand, how can they keep saying gas is â3.80 per gallonâ (or whatever the price is) when they price it at 9/10âs of a gallon! Just price a gallon!
What does that make the actual cost? I can never figure out fractions. Would you divide the 3.80 by 9 or 10? and then add that number to the 3.80 and that would be the ACTUAL cost of the gallon?
Ah well, nevermind that, this thread ROCKS!!
This thread is amazing and makes me so happy. Could someone PM me the paypal address so I can contribute a little as well?

The 9/10 isnât referring to the volume of gas youâre getting, it refers to the thousandths decimal place in the price of the fuel. 3.80 and 9/10 basically means 3.809. This way theyâre able to round up all the time.
I personally sent my gift to be used for the mare, more specifically to cover gas and food costs of those picking her up, having her initially checked by a vet, feed, and any additional vet, farrier, and feed costs needed for her.
I believe that little gray is accounting for all the monies with care, that BnG is very generous to offer her farm as a soft spot to land, and haulers, purchaser, and shotgun riders have a good heart as well. I suggest we let them do what they need to do, wait for an update, then if and when there is any extra that we put it to a vote at that time. Last thing we want is for all the kindness and good intentions reflected in this thread to get mangled in a train wreck.
With all that said, I do think we need to hear more about the Moo-Thru.
Oh heck I didnât write an âearmarkâ on my paypal. Just use it for whatever she needs.
I hope the universe sends the vibe to the mare that sheâs got a huge fan club and weâre all just champing at the bit to get her moved!
Someone please pm me the paypal address!!!

I am in favor of Ms. Mareâs âfundâ going with herâŠeither for her continued upkeep, or if she doesnât have much time left, Bluengray is going to incur expenses for euthanasia. I donât care how my tiny dribble gets used, as long as it goes to making mare happy and comfortable for however long is possible.
This is my vote as well. Couldnât have said it any better.
If there is money left over, I would vote for getting the mare a really good vet checkup-get a new Coggins drawn, spring shots, and check her teeth and float if necessary, anything else needed. Unless, of course, sheâs not doing well; then I would say letâs make sure she gets the peaceful end she deserves. If there is any leftover after a thorough vetting, letâs make sure BnG has plenty of good quality feed and bedding for her, and give the rest for her continued upkeep.
I figure my dribble maybe cuts into the gas for haulilng her, but in general, Iâd say get her to her new home, get a vet out, and unless sheâs in agony right now, feed her up, check her teeth, see if some TLC and equine company (thatâs the bit that gets me, the no-other-horses part) is the real medicine she needs! $805 (after her purchase price) isnât going THAT far with horses, we all know, so I figure itâs all towards her upkeep one way or another.
You never know with these oldstersâI rode one as a kid who worked up until a year before he laid down in the field and died, at age 42 (and he wasnât even an Arab!) Good care, company, and a sense of purpose can do wonders for seasoned equine citizens.
What an amazing thread!
Hi folks, as promised here is the noon update!
We are at $1040.00!!! With donations from nashfad, murphyâs mom, and one other $20 donation with no screen name so if that was you please let me know! Plus another couple of folks have asked for paypal info so I know we will soon be close to $1100.
I havenât heard anything more from the seller other than that her parents DO still have the mare but she wasnât sure when they would be able to meet us out wherever the old girl is. I get the feeling from her email that the mare possibly lives off by herself somewhat. Just a gut feeling.
I also want to say, although this âsellerâ IS communicating with me, it is like pulling teeth.
I will update every few hours until this whole thing is done.
Any leftover money should go with the mare. Thatâs my vote.
ETA - all leftover monies will go to BluenGray to care for the mare as long as possible. I think the discussion was more about what to do should the mare be euthed and there is leftover $$ at that point. Thatâs where talk of rescues came in, etc.
Here is what I have from the seller so far, and last night I did ask her for a contact phone # so hopefully her next email will include that info.
Yesterday:
We do still have her let me talk with my parents and see whats good with them on picking her up if they dont mind, we live close to remmigton to it wont be a long travel. I will get back to you asap.
Last night:
It wont be more then $100i dont think, and i will contact you with the day sometime soon my parents are working so i will have to get in touch with them. THanks
So you can see it sounds like she is very young.
Has any of you actually laid eyes on this horse? Because it is beginning to sound as if your chain is being yanked.

Itâs possible. Should that be the case it is easy enough to hit the refund button on donations. Frankly I think we are dealing with a young, fairly uneducated individual.
Ok, Dribble received from DangerHorse and I think the one I couldnât identify may have come from axl?
Also received from Trevelyan96!
Thank you all again!!

Do you have an address and phone number?

No, I asked her for that late last night. The pattern of her emails suggests she is either in school or working during the day - and I say that based on when I have gotten responses from her. Should I not hear back from her today or should she refuse to provide, then I think we can decide whether to call it quits from there.

Thatâs my thought as well.
Thanks for all you are doing, and thanks to everyone else who has pitched in and given good vibes to this situation, and especially to B&G who has offered up a wonderful home. Too many horses never get this chance.
Iâm keeping the faith that this grand old lady will find herself âin cloverâ very soon!

I completely agree with the last line here - I have a pretty good gut instinct and I donât feel âhadâ yet. I could be wrong, we shall see I guess. I think we may need to be patient with this one for a couple days while she figures things out but we ultimately will get our hands on this old timer.
