if we want to donate it to a reputable rescue that’s fine with me as long as it’s a rescue we all agree on.
I think this is a great idea - should the mare have to be euthed and there is $$ left over, maybe a few rescues could be selected to benefit?

I think you should get paid back for your gas money. The rest of the money for the mare’s upkeep/euthanasia unless the euthanasia is soon. In which case it would be nice to send any unused funds to Sunkissed Acres or another agreed upon rescue.
I was hoping to read that the girl had emailed back to give you a pick-up day/time. Heading to bed now but hope the morning brings the final arrangements !

I also agree that leftover funds go towards vet care so BnG won’t be completely footing the bill for teeth, vaccs, etc.

Anyone who sends money to SKA needs to read that thread where she was soliciting money for a sling…the 2nd year in a row. After she collected money for a sling almost exactly a year before 2nd solicitation. She is now working facebook. Plus read the thread where she said the feed company was killing 6 or 8 of her old horses. I forget how many died as she kept adding to the number. Don’t even get me started on that, as I was solicited by telephone to get $ out of the company!:eek: When of course it was NOT the feed from that company that was killing horses, if anything was killing horses. The state ag dept had no record of anything, btw.
I do want to say that it is great that so many people are trying to help the mare. All of you who are on the ground up there doing the labor to get her are great. People who areoffering tranport and blankets are great also. And the people doing the coordinating, a hard job, are great.

Don’t feel bad if you don’t have money to contribute. The economy sucks. Just love your horses and take care of them. And give support to all of the people doing the legwork to get the old mare.
We all are realistic that if she’s too far gone, the money will euth and bury. But if she is a candidate for rehabbing, then the money will help out. As we all know, every horse is expensive, from the 100000 horse to the free horse.
So no apologies necessary for not being able to throw in money!
And oh wow guys, right. We don’t want owner or her family to know how much money the mare now has.

This. I would not have sent money if I had worries about how it would be spent. Lets not lose our good intentions now.
If I had it right now I would send it. But bank account is enimic. But if someone would PM me the Pay Pal information maybe by end of week when pay day hit and bills paid etc if some left over I maybe albe to do a small drible for mare. No promises at this moment. But will try just incase mare is happy and healthy and may need long term care kwim…
Next time you make contact make sure you get a contact phone #, since it seems she is hard to track down/doesn’t have a ton of internet access.

I am in favor of Ms. Mare’s “fund” going with her…either for her continued upkeep, or if she doesn’t have much time left, Bluengray is going to incur expenses for euthansia. I don’t care how my tiny dribble gets used, as long as it goes to making mare happy and comfortable for however long is possible. :yes:
