What is “HV”? Oh, never mind. I just figured it out: Hanoverian Verband.

<roll eye>
I realize she can’t do anything right…but…
She actually contacted HV because us in Canada need to have the Hanoverian stallion activated in Germany in order to register the foal.
I asked her last week that she look into it (re: Romantic Star).
It won’t help her with the AHS one bit since Hanoverians born in the US will need to be registered through them.
You beat me to it! Call PETA on me as well, as I ship the same way. The only horses I get double stalls for are youngsters 18 mos & under.
Never had an issue.

.
It won’t work as I negotiated a “No foreign sire fee” with the verband between Canada and the US. The US stallion owners have to have a primary activation with the AHS before they can have a secondary HV activation. The HV activation is now automatic when stallions AHS dues are paid.
Again, if she was taken off and rested for a minimum of 8 hrs per 24, then no harm;no foul. Check your facts first.
Slant load trailers DO come in WB size, btw. Did you SEE the trailer she was in?
If you didn’t see the trailer and you didn’t know if she was taken off every night, then you really know virtually nothing about whether it was “cruel and inhumane” or not…
Let’s recap.
Waldenbrook Farm (John French) took her to Small Claims Court to recover $5000 she owed him. (And good for him, for actually proceeding with legal action ).
She failed to appear at the Small Claims hearing in Feb. 2010. John French apparently DID attend the hearing and judgment was rendered in his favor. IOW, the court ordered her to pay Waldenbrook Farm $5125 (I assume the extra $125 was to cover his court costs).
She apparently failed to pay per the judgment, so the court ordered her to appear at another hearing on Sept. 20, 2010. She failed to appear at that hearing also, so the court issued a warrant for her arrest on Sept. 22, 2010, with bail set at $5000.
That was over 17 months ago. So she STILL hasn’t been arrested? She better have a good lawyer since she has now ignored THREE separate court orders revolving around this one case. I can’t imagine how much her bail will be once the law finally catches up with her!
Meanwhile she is out at horse shows, and is able to send funds to IHF for her stallions’ nomination fees, etc. Just wow.
So since she may be in jail by the time my foal is born in 6 weeks or so, I have no hope at getting that breeding cert, eh?
This whole thing is pitiful, OP, any word on your mare?
I just posted this response
"Whistle Blowing " …
I’d be the first, among others, to jump all over someone who tried to derail a thread by bringing up hearsay, rumors, false accusations, etc about another poster but Man Alive, every single board (except it seems, HGS) has rampant stories about people getting burned by JB/GFF and unless someone actually SAYS something, more and more people are continue to get burned. And badly too …
Its not fair. Its not right. And in the end, it taints ALL breeders because really and truly, a lot of our business is based on trust and standing behind our word, whether that is sales of semen, sales of youngsters, in utero sales, mares in foal - whatever - and if someone who appeared to be a Big Name Reputable breeder like JB/GFF could screw someone time and time again, that buyer is going to think twice about believing what Susie Smith of ABC Farms is telling her, even IF Susie Smith is the most honest person to walk on the face of this earth
Do a google map search of GFF at the address on their website. Looks at all of the greenness AROUND GFF, and then look at the condition of that property. Is that how you want a youngster born and raised that you are paying good money for? On a dirt lot with no shelters or trees?
If others - MANY others - have been burned, what makes you think you are going to be any different???
I will - once again - go on record as saying that I liked JB very very much (note past tense being used) and other than having to chase her up for the paperwork to register my filly maybe 12-15 times, I did get it in the end but many others didnt. At all. But hearing what she has pulled on so many people and the charges against her not only in CA but also in VA, this is no longer hearsay - this is a breeder that doesnt appear to care how many people she hurts, how many dreams she dashes, how much money she takes, how many promises she makes that are broken
Do you REALLY think people dont deserve to know about her???
There is a thread running on COTH now about a woman who trusted her, didnt know her background and has had her mare leased out to her and has shipped her from the East to the West Coast. The mare is now “in limbo” (thank God!) at the haulers place a few hours away from GFF. He cannot get hold of JB and wont drop her off until the bill is paid (smart man) and the owner is frantic on the East Coast wondering what to do
If she had only known BEFOREHAND, the whole mess could have been avoided
If there was some attempt on JB’s part to right the multitide of wrongs she has done, I think there would be one helluva lot of people that would give her a second chance. But to brazenly talk about upcoming breedings, show results, new mare acquisitions when SO many people are still owed money, semen, breedings, etc is just wrong on so many levels
I - for one - would love to see her list her youngsters / mares in foal / in utero’s / breedings to her stallions with the following clause attached to it
I am trying to clear up some past indebtedness owed to many people. As such, on the $10,000 price on this youngster, I will agree to have you pay 50% of the agreed price directly to someone I owe money to and the remaining 50% to GFF. I am hoping in this way that everyone will see that I am trying to make up for mistakes I have made in the past and that people will recognize my sincerity and my intention to make this right for everyone. All I will ask in return is that the person that does receive the money that was owed to them, makes it known that I did keep my word on this
Bingo
That would go such a HUGE way to restoring people’s faith in JB and would actually allow people to feel good and be confident about dealing with her again
What about it Jill? You game to start to make restitution to everyone in this manner? It WILL take a long time but believe me - with every step you make forward, as small as it may seem in the beginning, will go a HUGE way to restoring trust in you once again
And if you dont? IMO you are sunk. You will have no more money coming in. The horses will suffer, you WILL end up in jail once they catch up with you on the outstanding warrants if you cant make bail and you will have dug yourself a hole that you cant come out from. This should be a no-brainer to figure out what is the right thing to do …
I welcome your response
on this thread (when several posters criticized others for bringing up JB/GFF issues):

What may I ask IS HGS?? Seems a site that attracts the “faithful” much like a cult leader might do to an oh so lovely “drink”
What may I ask IS HGS??
Another board. Just like COTH or a multitude of other boards, where Jill seems to feel safe and protected enough that she posts there a lot even when avoiding / ignoring other boards / posts …

Answered many times already
It’s not as you assume, it’s merely a place that is much less cutthroat and nasty than this place can be
There are “followers” and “cultish” people there as well, but they exist here too. It’s just that the gloves don’t stay on very long here - they stay on longer there
Just wow,
I have to assume from everyone posting here that their farms are immaculate and that every horse or foal has it’s own private yard, with irrigation for grass growing year round. That their air ride van is waiting in the back for any trip they may need to go on.
I applaud you all. I wish I had the money you did. Because I have 1 acre and 3 horses on that acre. That acre gets muddy when it rains and yes there is NO grass!!! YIKES!!!. I struggle constantly with leaving them out in the rain, or cooping them up in a stall while it rains and then waiting until it dries until they can go out again. Last year that mean’t stallbound for 3 weeks because I was “afraid” of mud.
The pregnant mare that was shipped to CA had a healthy foal right? so apparently the shipper knew what he was doing. I have used both and have found that the trip success lies with the shipper not as much on the method of shipment.
When someone posts a rational response to a specific issue they are told by “bashers” to “focus on the OP’s problem” So only the bashers are allowed to bring out all their other complaints. “Defenders” must shut it.
I have no issues with people trying to resolve their issues with someone. OP has not responded since the day she started her thread, even John French took down his thread on FB. How do we know that these issue haven’t been resolved?
And now someone suggest HGS is for the “cult” like??? simply because they like to focus on the positive side of breeding and not have a group bashing?
As for stallion owners bashing other stallion owners that is tacky. In fact I’ll take that further that I would not look at a stallion of an owner who is bashing another stallion owner. (Edgar is the exception because he is representing the AHS)
The credibility of any complaints have become obscured in the nonsense that people choose to throw into the mix. Geld the stallions? Seriously? The individual issues people may have are now called to question because people who know nothing of what they speak are throwing out garbage.
Anyway I am done, I came to this site to get information and instead I leave being very frustrated at how vicious people can be. So I will mosy over to HGS where I can simply enjoy seeking breeding advice and not be afraid that I will be judged by those around me because of the size of my property, my choices for hauling and my non-stop lack of grass.
and for Scarlett,YES.

Kudos to you, you are definitely someone I would love to meet…no one is allowed to voice their opinion on here unless it agrees with the choice of negativity. Granted most of us know the reputation of Jill Burnell but burnt once shame on her burnt twice same on you…the professional thing to do is be cautious in your actions. Lesson learned is investigate before making decisions that will effect the future of your horses.
I am hoping that since we have not heard anymore from the OP that things were settled.
On the matter of bad checks and warrants, I had one written to me years ago. The person was prosecuted in 2007. A warrant was issued, she lived around the corner from the police station, they would not go pick her up but last month she was arrested and finally settled the check with me. So sooner or later it will catch Jill.
Some sideways business to be sure…
BUT
Is coth so incredibly gullible to believe that if you are shady about your transactions that you automatically mistreat your animals, or horde them?
I have heard NOTHING that is concrete evidence of abuse. She owes some people some money… Buyer beware!
But please put the crazy train on the tracks as none of this is amounting to an animal abuser.
Kmsuds - 3 horses on 1 acre with no grass and stall bound for 3 weeks. I honestly wouldn’t keep my horses in those conditions and certainly hope none ever get sold to that situation.
And Peskee - you stated “And most of us know the reputation of Jill Burnell”. How exactly do you know who knows and who doesn’t? It’s a big country with a lot of mare owners - so I’d love to know how you feel this information is supposed to reach those mare owners? By osmosis? Or after they have had a bad experience because they DID NOT KNOW?
And NOMIOMI1 - not sure what part of the US you live in but there is a crisis with horses/ponies from coast to coast. Yes that’s right even pregnant mares and foals just weaned being dumped at the killer sales because owners hit the wall financially and had no PLAN B.
I’d love to know where some of you buy those rose colored glasses.
Wow Summit, not sure how you stay in business with that attitude, but obviously I would not want anything you would be selling. And frankly have heard I wouldn’t want to buy anything from you.
Bashers gone rampant, how sad. Hope you’re not too comfortable on that pedestal of yours.
“Peskee” Thanks! love to meet you too
“NOMIOMI1” obviously the crazy train is not quite ready to grow up.
ps Summit I personally don’t own any rose colored glasses, but think you might be in need of some for your personality disorder.

So this statement escaped you ?
Kmsuds - I applaud you on your post! I don’t often post on these forums or get involved in heated discussions as I do feel it doesn’t offer a good representation for any party involved…But, I almost posted something similiar to your comments on another post a few weeks back. But, not knowing the back story on the thread I opted to keep out. But, thank you for voicing some of the issues that I had wanted to bring up.
I have nothing to say about GF and her horse care or handling as I have absolutely no first hand knowledge. I have bred to her stallions three times now and have had good customer service and semen arrived promptly. The first year one of my mares aboarded her foal and Jill was once again good about the rebreed the following year. Yes, I did have to “push” a bit to get my breeding certificates. But, overall my experience was good in my dealings with her.
I do feel for those who have been in the path of her financial issues. I certainly hope that she sets her finances straight with all of you.

Thanks Eowyn, sorta brings back memories of the playground bullies
so sure I won’t be posting here much.
I had great service breeding my mare and bought my most favorite mare ever there 7 yrs ago,
It does seem that “some” don’t know much about CA horsekeeping. What I wouldn’t give to have lushious green pastures and no mud that sucks my shoes off in winter
but my horses are healthy and happy and that’s what counts
I’m very surprised the IRS hasn’t gone knocking on her door. There is no escaping the IRS  An audit on someone with a warrant? Not sure of the various CA tax laws, I’m curious how lenient they are…They love to audit equine professionals in my part of the country. Her books must be very interesting
