Hey Brown Saddle Lovers

I know everyone was drooling over this baby on a thread last year: https://www.fine-used-saddles.com/saddles/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=524&idcategory=19 but nobody grabbed it because of the size/price.

I present to you: http://www.winningedgesaddlery.com/horse-tack/saddles/consignment-saddles/jp-giacomi-dressage-saddle-17mw-brown.html#.V7iZXpMrKRs found in my travels today.

That is one HECK of a deal if it will fit you/your horse/that extra rack in the tack room that looks lonely.

I was drooling over one of the Olympic equestrians’ brown dressage saddle. Can’t remember now whose, or if it was eventing dressage or GP dressage.

This is the one I used to drool over:

There was definitely someone in the GP dressage who had a brown saddle, because I didn’t watch the eventing dressage and I remember thinking, “Hey, they have a brown saddle!”

I love my brown saddle. In fact, there are 3 or 4 of us in my barn with brown dressage saddles, thought I was the first. Mine is straight up dark brown with gold piping, but I kind of wish I would have gotten either a brown and black saddle or a brown/chestnut colored one. Ah, well. The most important thing is that it fits me and him
maybe someday I’ll suck it up and order him a new one in new, fun colors!

ETA: The pair with the brown saddle was Tinne Vilhelmson Silfven and Don Auriello: https://www.chronofhorse.com/sites/default/files/1LMB_6105.jpg

I love brown dressage saddles. A friend of mine has a brown Bates, and I just drool over it. I wish I could find a reasonably priced brown dressage saddle in my seat size and tree width, just never had any luck.

There’s one on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Wintec-Isabell-Adjustable-Stirrup-Bar-Dressage-Saddle-17-/322225639261?hash=item4b06250f5d:g:FY0AAOSw0UdXrcDx

Oh you are a bad influence! My jumping saddle is a Bates, and I refuse to sell it, even though I don’t jump anymore. I didn’t know they did brown dressage saddles too though! That is probably the best excuse for getting brown boots too, “my black boots would leave marks all over this beautiful brown saddle
”

Can’t get this one out of my head, since someone posted it recently in the “Looking for Needle in Haystack Thread.” Shape, color, antique look. If I were collecting . . . .

Fine used saddles has a saddle of mine for sale right now
very dark brown 18 inch schleese wave. It’s a beautiful saddle.

The first saddle posted is just spectacularly beautiful. I’ve been told by several saddle fitters and reps that brown dressage saddles are becoming very popular again. My new brown County dressage saddle is shipping the end of this week and I can’t wait!

I just bought the Ovation Moorland boots in brown for schooling. I don’t think you could show in them, but they are amazing for schooling, and they are way more comfortable than most tall boots for doing things around the barn after a ride.

If you have a smaller bum, here is a Wintec Isabelle in brown for a good price: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Wintec-Isabell-Adjustable-Stirrup-Bar-Dressage-Saddle-17-/322225639261?hash=item4b06250f5d:g:FY0AAOSw0UdXrcDx

And a drool worthy county: http://www.ebay.com/itm/County-Connection-Dressage-Saddle-18-5-Havana-Brown-/152208589469?hash=item237056c29d:g:6NUAAOSwARZXjuV9

And finally, I have had a serious crush on this saddle for a while now: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Used-JRD-Dressage-Saddle-Brown-w-Black-and-Green-Wide-18-67601-/371652625314?hash=item56883903a2:g:Y3MAAOSwzJ5XaXL1

Sometimes I secretly hope that my mare will need a different tree size when she quits growing so I can order a dark brown saddle with oxblood welting. In the meantime, I’m going to settle for a brown dressage jacket and brown bling and padding on a black bridle.

I have a brown miller klimke and I love it. It’s not a beautiful brown like some of those posted above, but it’s more of a uniform chocolate. The only pics I have of it are under saddle:

In an ideal world, my next saddle will be a brown prestige.

My horse is a dark chestnut and his bridle is black with brown padding and a tiger’s eye browband, so I think we can totally get away with mixing black and brown!

A facebook friend of mine just posted a picture of her trilogy saddle, it’s a 2 tone brown seat/knee rolls and either dark brown or black panels, I was drooling over it. Went on their website and couldn’t find a picture so it must be custom, but I am firmly in the brown dressage saddle camp.

I remember when I was working with my saddle fitter he kind of nervously asked me how I felt about brown saddles because he had one he couldn’t get rid of (no one wants brown) and he thought it would work for my horse. I was so damn excited, and it looked exactly like the one on that site. Of course in the end it fit my horse perfectly but the seat was too small for me. I tried many brown saddles but none of them worked out, and in the end I ended up with a boring, faded leather black saddle. I love the saddle, I would just love it more if I could strip the black and dye it brown.

I’m kind of picky about what shade though: I love the rich cognac colours, but I don’t go as crazy over the dark browns.

I think the first attempt at building my saddle from Custom is sitting on a custom rep’s trailer for sale most likely at some sort of discount - it’s dark brown with cognac, 18" seat Advantage R monoflap, and the tree is more of a medium width - so of course can get adjusted either way from there. It didn’t fit my mare quite right and they made a new one no questions asked
beautiful saddle, and I love my version of it. I’m all about the brown, and dark browns.

The new Jeremy Steinberg N2 saddle is super pretty, too. Those don’t fit me - their trees just felt strange to me and not comfortable, but I know other people who love them.

My trainer has a beautiful brown Hermes saddle and a black one. They are both gorgeous but I prefer the brown one. She is sponsored by them. Her everyday boots are a really pretty brown too.

Where do these hordes who love brown dressage saddles shop - because that’s where I’ll send my brown Stackhouse on consignment! LOL.

eBay!

I have a lovely brown dressage saddle! The only complaint I have with it is that its hard to find modestly priced brown dressage bridles or girths or leathers.

Ha - I’d rather pay a commission than deal with selling on ebay!

PDDT, my girth is TSF and I have leathers from KL Select and Beval. For bridles I’m no good because I like the hunter stuff.
