High waisted breeches

I’m looking for suggestions on high waisted breeches. I’m a very petite female but I’m oddly built. I have a longer upper body that’s very narrow, a very 3-D butt, a size 26/2 waist, but my hip points are very high. I tend to prefer a higher rise waist in jeans and my breeches. I used to adore tailored sportsman, but I’ve noticed their “mid-rise” is leaning towards the lower side these days and their cotton/material is kind of cheap. Does anyone have any suggestions for a decent brand? Please no Tuff rider, Tredstep, equine couture, etc. Thanks in advance.

I’m the same size with the same issues. My side zip TS hit my hip bones and its really painful! I have a mid ride (older style though) and they fit me really well.

I’m not sure where you live, but I have a pair of Elations (from Greenhawk) and they fit me really well and are super comfortable. I have a pair of Tuscany’s as well and they fit like a glove.

I havent tried the newer TS so I don’t know how they compare now. Perhaps you can find a good pair of used TS on FB? That’s where I got my current pair from and I’m super happy with them.

If they are just for schooling the noble riding tights (pull ons) are my absolute FAV! So bummed they pulled out of Canada.

I also would LOVE to find breeches (not tights) that are higher waisted than most of what I find out there. I currently use TS mid rise, but I’d love to find something structured and actually on my actual waist. Seemingly impossible!

Go on eBay or call up Middleburg Tack Exchange or MD Tack and ask for some show quality used Tailored Sportsmans. There are a bunch still out there in the older material/fit that are in show ring condition.

I’ve never tried them but your thread made me recall a recent article I read raving about the Caitlyn breeches by Aisling. May be worth a try.

I also hunt for high waisties. I recently picked up a pair of Horze Daniela breeches, and although they work well for the waist, I find the fabric to be less stretchy than I’d like.

Pikeur has several styles with a high waist. They are much cheaper if you are willing to order from the UK/EU.

I like the Romfh Champions and Isabellas (although the Isabellas are pretty pricey).

If you are looking for show breeches …Pikeur, Struk, she FITS have nice high waist options …for everyday I love my Noble Outfitters Balance Riding Tights

It sounds like you might do well in Ovation’s Celebrity Slim Secret breeches. Annoying name, but its a true high rise that accommodates a slim waist much better than Piper’s mid-rise.

I’m a loyal TS follower but was fed up with the metal closure cutting my stomach, so I tried Decided to look for something new. I have the corduroy Aisling’s and love them. They are well made and look expensive. In fact, I may order myself another pair right now!

I got some of those Annie’s breeches, and they are high enough for me (I like high rise, have long hips and even mid rise seems to be too low). I got this pretty gray one from them and they are my new favorite breeches to wear.

Try some of the SmartPak Pipers!! They are actually my favorite - they come in all styles and they are actually super affordable.

And ruining so many shirts!

I have been wearing Smartpak Hadley breeches lately. Kind of a weird synthetic material, but they are not too long. I can’t wear most breeches because I am short.

Another vote for the Smartpak Hadleys! (Altho my problem is the opposite–need large sizes)

Have you tried B Vertigo? I love their high waisted breeches, super stretchy and comfortable.

I luuurrrvvvveee my Romfh Champions! I feel that I am built similarly to you (per your description), and these fit my shape wonderfully. I have a saved search on eBay for them, and I try to scoop them up, as I see them.

Just a note on the Romfh breeches - the cut for the Champion is different for the knee patch/full seat breeches. I got a pair of Isabellas that fit like a glove. I’ve only had the chance to wear them once but I know they’ll be my go-to white breeches. I ordered a pair of Champion KP breeches to wear for xc, but they weren’t nearly as high-waisted as the Isabellas. Looking at the stock photos, it appears as though the fullseats have 3 buttons on the front, where the knee patch only has 2. They are still nice breeches, but not the right fit for me.

I also have a pair of Hadleys. The material is nice, but I wouldn’t consider them high-waisted. They gap at the waist and are far too short for me (I can go with a regular or long length depending on the breech).

I only have the fullseat Champions, and you’re right, they have 3 buttons. The Sarafina fullseats only have two.

I have a pair of the Hadley fullseat silicones, and I get stuck in my car when I wear them! (I also love the fit though)…
