Yay!! So happy for you both. May we get a photo when you see her tomorrow? Jingles for continued healing.
ETA: Not necessarily a wound photo (although that would be OK also). Would love to see her “smiling” face. I’m a sucker for TBs.

Gosh, this looks great!
Only a horse person could say that in response to those photos! But I agree—I think week in the clinic is probably what would’ve taken 3-4 weeks at home. Very pleased even if my wallet isn’t!
Oh, and get this: I got laid off on Thursday! It has been a darn month.
Oh my gosh! What’s that saying??? “Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?” I’m glad your pretty mare is doing well.
I hope the layoff won’t cause you terrible difficulties. Great timing, right after a huge vet bill.
Your mare looks great! What a pretty face.
How is her range of motion in the injured hock?
What a cutie! You’re a lucky girl. Well, you are both lucky girls to have found each other. Thanks for the pic!
And I SHOULD have added “I’m so sorry”. I hope you are able to find a better job quickly and that you got a severance package!
Thanks! I’ll be just fine. In the meantime, glad I will get to spend some extra quality time with my girl while she’s recovering.
That’s the attitude.
Wound looks really great! Keep us posted.
Well… you’ll have some extra time to dote on her while she recovers. It looks like the vet did a fantastic job.
Oh I am just seeing this now. I went through a similar experience in September with my gelding. He is now fully healed and we’ve started introducing jumps again at his rehab stage (slow and steady).
Jingles for the same outcome for your gorgeous mare!
I had a TB mare with a similar looking scar. It happened long before I bought her, it was listed as a marking on her papers when I got her at 6, but it never seemed to bother her no matter how hard she was worked (and I had her when I was a teenager - she worked hard ). She passed at 26 without it being an issue. I hope you have a similar outcome.
We are doing well! Sutures came out last week, but she’s still in the big bandage for support—we’ll try to “downgrade” that on Friday. Completely sound and has been happily hand grazing outside in the sunshine. I truly don’t know another 4-year-old in my life that has been so happy and sweet during stall rest. She’s been enjoying lots of good grooming sessions and I’ve taken the time to teach her some carrot stretches and some fun things in-hand. She’s really something sweet.
That faaaaaaace. Such a boopable snoot.
She’s a charmer! So happy she’s coming along so well.
